• Establishing priorities saves time, trouble, and
efforts.

others want to see.

• Understanding others needs empathy. Empathy
recognizes the inherent right of a person to have his
or her own personal views.
• Listen for the total message i.e. 10% of the
communication comes through words, 30% by sounds,
and 60% by body language.
• Avoid selective listening – hearing only that pleases
own selves or fit into preconceived ideas.
• Give the other person time to finish.
• Use reflective responses to communicate your
attentiveness.
