This document provides an overview and training on Smart Majlis, an online platform for teachers in the UAE to communicate, collaborate, and share resources. The training covers:

- The purpose of Smart Majlis for discussions, chats, and sharing documents
- UAE laws regarding appropriate social media use, including avoiding political, religious or sensitive topics, and maintaining professional relationships with students

4. Why use Smart Majlis?
• You can have an unlimited number of users in your group
• You can track documents (e.g. versions)
• Work on projects together and then share results to others (groups or via EduShare)
• E.g. Group for all grade7 teachers of English - can use this for feedback (mistakes, pitched at right learning
level, need to adjust timeframe for teaching, etc)
• Have live conversations regarding current issues
• Keep up to date with the latest research in the field via colleagues

5. Log in to Smart Majlis
• Go to http://smartmajlis.moe.gov.ae
• Log in to the system using your usual Ministry of Education credentials
• On the 1st log in you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions (Arabic)
• Check the white box at the bottom of the page
• Select submit
• Welcome to Smart Majlis

8. Quality Control
• The UAE has strict laws on what you can post on social media. Any post deemed as slanderous to an individual,
company or government entity may lead to problems with the law. It is best to avoid posting things about a
company.
• Student photos or videos should never be posted on personal social media accounts
• Here, it is no different to any other school – conversations around relationships should be
completely avoided. You are in a trusted professional capacity.
• Conversations around political and religious views should be avoided. Please do not put yourself in any risky
situation by discussing sensitive topics.
• Swearing, profanities and vulgarity are not permitted in the UAE, and this includes all social media
• No different to at home, contact with students outside of school is not permitted. You are again putting yourself
in a risky situation with WhatsApp groups etc.. consider using the MOE email addresses instead.
• Be mindful of what you post in any. You are always representing the Ministry. At any point someone could
screenshot a conversation. Always think would you be happy for the public to read this.

time creating discussions, responding to other discussions & uploading relevant material.
