What have you learned from
 you audience feedback
The statistics we found out clearly show that people really thought our documentary
was really informative it shows that the research we did prior to the filming really
paid off and the questionnaire really give us a true report of what people wanted
and that's why I think the documentary was successful. It also shows that the
majority of people really enjoyed our poster which again means the research into
bbc3 poster worked and that our poster was really informative. The only way I think
it could of been improved would be including interments in the poster as it clearly
shows the genre then. And finally people thought that our radio advert was really
informative too I think that this was due to the very informative voice over which
really related to the target audience and also we used some sound bits from our
documentary in the radio advert which again pared the two together and really
made the link between them. And we mentioned the time date and channel right at
the end of the advert which enforces the information on the viewers mind.
Again from our statistics we found that our documentary was enjoyed by the vast
majority of our audience. What I have learned from this feedback is that a lot of people
really like the fast paced editing of the documentary and that it works really well the
format we choice. I also think it was successful as we stuck to a lot of the codes and
conventions we research early on but we did break a couple such as the voice over we
did not contain a voice over which I think made it really interesting and really increased
the flow of the documentary. Again the poster was also successful we stuck to the
normal codes of a bbc advert so it looked really professional and the leading lines in
the poster really help attract people eyes to the poster and lead them through it. I think
some people did not like it as there is no stand out feature to the poster and it does not
give the subject of the documentary which I think put people of it so I will consider this
next time. Finally the radio was still popular but the least popular out of all the medias I
this suggests to me we should of done more research into radio trailers and not rush
I was really pleased with the result of this feedback the vast majority again thought the
documentary was to a professional level. I think this shows that we followed a lot of the
codes and conventions of a documentary, and that it worked really well as a concept. I
think what I have learned from this is that some people think that its not professional
because they are used to a voice over in documentaries but we wanted to break that
to make our documentary stand out. And finally I think that people thought that some of
the shots were not of a great quality so thought it could of been filmed a bit better so
next time I would consider better lighting and make sure the subjects face is lit from
the front and not in front of any windows.
Another positive set of results where gathered from this questioner people found our
documentary really eye catching i think this was down to the opening montage In that
we really tried to engage the viewer and get there attention really focused on the
people in the band and I think the fast paced editing and dramatic heart beat really
makes the documentary eye catching this shows me that a fast paced opening
sequence is really important as it grabs there attention and makes them want to watch
the documentary.
I think this is a really good interpretation of the codes we followed this has told me that
we successfully achieved a lot of our goals in getting good interviews using the rule of
thirds and a good mese en scene and also tried to keep a fast pace keeping the viewer
interested. I think the no’s where due to the fact our documentary did not feature a
voice over which people normally expect of a documentary. But this was a convention
we wanted to break as we wanted to try and push the documentary forward and let the
footage speak for it self helped along with interviews. From this we can see the
majority of people thought it was a good idea and only some people did not like the
thought of it and prefer the more traditional documentary that contains a voice over.
