Strengths And Weaknesses Of Speech Recognition
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
People use calculators to perform calculations that have a numeric keypad to input the data and a
display to get the result. To overcome this, speech signal can be used to input the data and the result
is an audio signal.
Speech is the vocalized form of human communication. It ranges from 90 Hz to 7,000 Hz. Each
spoken word is created out of the phonetic combination of a limited set of vowel and consonant
speech sound units. The voiced speech of a typical adult male will have a fundamental frequency
from 85 to 180 Hz, and that of a typical adult female from 165 to 255 Hz. Thus, the fundamental
frequency of most speech falls below the bottom of the "voice frequency" band as defined above.
Speech recognition is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally the more traing, the higher the perfromance of the system for virtually any task. The
reference pattern are sensitive to the speaking environment and transmission characteristics of the
medium used to create the speech, this is because the speech spectral characteristics are affected by
transmission and background noise. No speech–specific knowledge is used explicitly in the system;
hence the method is relatively in sensitive to choice of vocabulary words, task, syntax, and task
semantics. The computational load for both pattern training and pattern classification is generally
linearly proportional to the number of patterns being trained or recognized. Hence computation for a
large number of sound classes could and often does become prohibitive. Because the system is
insensitive to sound class, the basic techniques are applicable to a wide range of speech sounds,
including phrases, whole words and sub word units. The basic set of techniques developed for one
sound class (e.g., words) can generally be directly applied to different sound classes (e.g., subword
units) with little or no modifications to the

I. Consumer electronic products, telecom industry and globalization –
The focus of this paper is to review the sourcing strategy of Apple, a technology company providing
consumer electronic product, and examine if it is a good fit for telecom industry to adopt the same
strategy.
Consumer electronic by definition is any device that contains an electronic circuit board and is
intended for everyday use by an individual to enhance the quality of life. These devices can be
found in communication, office and entertainment products. Some examples of consumer products
are television, personal computer, cell phone, refrigerator, washer and dryer. Traditionally, consumer
electronic refers mainly to products that installed or used specifically at ... Show more content on

The advancement of technology has made distinguishing some consumer electronic products from
telecom equipment difficult. For example, cell phone and laptop are both categorized as consumer
electronic product by the definition of consumer electronic product. However, since cell phone is a
tool for communication, it also can be categorized as telecom product as per the definition of
telecom equipment. Similarly, laptop can be used to communicate via VoIP as well as exchange
information over a distance. By definition, laptop also fits well as a telecom product. Conversely,
telecom equipment such as modem and router can also qualify as consumer electronic products as
they are both everyday use devices to many individuals to enhance quality of life. For the purpose of
this paper, we will categorize cell phone and laptop as consumer electronic devices and keep router
and modem in the telecom equipment section.
As the internet and hand held device technologies continue to advance, the area of interconnect
between the telecom and consumer electronics industries have together reshape the consumer
behavior. People no longer have to rely solely on telephone or telefax to communication or
exchange information in distance. The texting feature on the cell phone, for example,

ABSTRACT
A simulation model is presented to analyze and evaluate the performance of VoIP based integrated
wireless LAN/WAN with taking into account various voice encoding schemes. The network model
was simulated using OPNET Modeler software. Different parameters that indicate the QoS like
MOS, jitter, end to end delay, traffic send and traffic received are calculated and analyzed in
Wireless LAN/WAN scenarios. Depending on this evaluation, Selection codecs G.729A consider the
best choice for VoIP.

INTRODUCTION
During the recent years, there is a growing trend in real–time voice communication using Internet
protocol (IP). Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows delivery of voice
communications over the Internet or other packet switched networks rather than the traditional
Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Many VoIP applications are available on the internet:
Skype, Viber, Tango, and Yahoo messenger. All of these applications provide good quality and free
calls. In VoIP, the analog voice signal from the transmitter is converted into the digital format before
compression and encoding it into a stream of IP packets for transmission to the receiver over IP
network. At the receiving end,

The knowledge systems eliminate the need to recreate the wheel.
The DDS examines more alternatives, stimulates new ideas, and makes it easier to communicate the
findings of the data analysis. This system is a support system for managers generating statistical
projections to help them make confident and intelligent decisions moving forward (O'Brien &
Marakas, 2017). The system must be built as with the knowledge base and therefore it is hard to
determine exactly how much these systems will end up costing and is why some may tend to shy
away from them.
Innovations in technology are advancing every day. Technology advances come at a rate that can be
intimidating to some and exhilarating to others. Innovation defined simply is a new idea or new
methods to more effectively or efficiently accomplish something. The advancements in technology
and the innovative processes they bring may not always be for the betterment of all people, but
definitely, aid in the growth of organizations.
People born before 1980's remember a time before cell phones. People born in the 21st century may
know little about phone booths, rotary dial telephones, and landlines. In a matter of twenty years, the
advances in technology are phenomenal and continual in regards to the cell phone (Ray, 2015). The

Machines designed to replace human labor played a crucial part in the developing social production
to perform production and transportation functions. Inventions such as the SPINNING JENNY
& the STEAM ENGINE commenced the Industrial Revolution. This marked the evolution of
machine production.
Basic indexes of technology: The most important indexes in technology are productivity, reliability,
and economy of operation. The productivity denotes the quantity of goods produced, processed, or
shipped per unit time. The reliability of technology is characterized by the capacity to produce
itemized quantity of goods without interruption. As the name suggest economy of the operation is
determined by the consumption of materials, power and by the cost of supporting facilities
necessary for the operation to take place. The indexes of any operation can be improved by
perfecting the design of the working elements and by automating operational processes which is
nothing but modernization. The life of any technology can be improved by well–timed
modernization which ensures that the technology meets the demand of technical and scientific
progress.
ROLE OF R&D:
Consumer demands continuously changes to indicate the different needs as the society develops. A
fresh range of high quality products is what the consumer wants. In order to meet up to the needs in

making it not just a mobile phone but also a smartphone. Table of contents Chapter 1. Introduction
Background In the past it was never clear that the cell phone would have such an important status in
today's society. But the development of the cell phone into a smartphone proves this statement right.
This includes transformations, besides the normal functionalities of a phone like text messaging,
receiving and making calls. A smartphone's operating system reflects the users lifestyle because it
controls the choice of applications, the general features and functionality in a phone. However the
mobile market is fragmented amongst the following software platforms or operating systems;
WebOS, BlackBerry OS, Windows phone formerly known as (Windows Mobile OS), Android OS,
Meego OS, Bada OS, Symbian OS, iPhone OS, and Tizen OS. Due to the continues advancement in
the technology of a smartphone, each smartphone needs an operating system in order for it to reach
its full capacity in today's world, however a phone is not smart on till it is powered by an operating
system. i.e. phone manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, SonyEricson etc. Play a role by
manufacturing a phone (hardware) with the demand and capability of running this software, which
is the OS inside. This simply means that the phone (hardware) is the infrastructure, while an

By setting up a centralised security system based in Mumbai for the entire network Reliance
Infocomm was able to reduce manpower needs from 10,000 to just 200 software engineers.
TECHNOLOGY Reliance Infocomm uses Qualcomm Inc.'s Code Division Multiple Access
(CDMA) 2000 1 X technology. This technology handles better voice quality & higher data rates as
compared to GSM. Reliance Infocomm has tied up with Kyocera for supply of high end PDAs.
Reliance has procured around 50,000 PDAs. The PDAs will be focused for high end users whereby
one can use it both as a phone as well as a PDA. The phone will be used for making voice calls
whereas PDA will be utilized to provide wireless data access for web clippings, HTML, SMS and e–
mail. Using speakerphone facilities one can use PDA while one is making voice call. ENTRY
STRATEGIES – By deciding to use PDAs for high end market they have not only done value
addition to their services but also they have decided to cater for the segment where margins are high.
– Infocomm's strategy from the beginning was simple. It started operations late, after the market had
stabilised to a degree. But eventually when it did, it did it with a splash. Its aim was to acquire
critical mass quickly by undercutting competition This was because it saw that the telecom industry

This can enable customers to place orders directly. Helpful Internet Tools There are many Internet
tools that could benefit Dirt Bikes employees. Of the vast number of choices, I have decided on two
that I feel the company should implement soon than later. The first Internet tool that I recommend
for the company is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). "A VPN is a secure, encrypted, private
network that has been configured within a public network to take advantage of larger networks, such
as the internet" (Laudon & Laudon,2013 [Leave a space after the comma] ). VPN benefits are
endless, but the most obvious is, the company would be able to e–mail one another with no risk of
outsiders gaining access to sensitive information. This would be particularly helpful if the company
develops new products and sensitive specs need to be e–mailed to a manufacturing employee
halfway around the world. In addition to the added security VPN's provide the benefit of lowering
communication costs by providing encrypted services at a lower rate than say a traditional non–
Internet provider would offer. My second recommendation would be the use of Voice over IP
(VoIP), which is a popular voice transmission and corporate networking platform. "All employees

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Nop Phone Service

Advantages
VoIP phone service providers o er many advantages to the residential and small oce/home oce
user. If you have a high speed internet connection then choosing a VoIP phone service might be right
for you.
1. Low Cost :
This technology leads to greater nancial savings. This happens because there exists only one
network carrying the voice and video provided by only one supplier. If you have a broad– band
Internet connection (DSL or cable), you can make PCtoPC phone calls anywhere in the world for
free. If you wish to make a PC to phone connection, there's usually a charge for this but probably
much cheaper than your regular phone service. You can pay as you go or you can sign up with a
VOIP service provider and pay a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low Taxes :
Since the calls are being carried over the Internet, governments have not heavily taxed VoIP phone
services. Compare that to your local telephone bill (go ahead and take a close look) and you will see
you are spending quite a bit on taxes each month. Therefore, choosing a
VoIP provider could add up to signi cant savings for you and your family.
3. Portability :
One important concept to understand about VoIP is that unlike its forefathers (lets call them
PSTN for now), it is not distance or location dependent. As far as VoIP is concerned, you could be
calling your supplier 1,000 miles away in Indonesia or calling your business partner on the other end
of town, and it doesnt make any di erence at all, in terms of connectivity and cost. You can make and
receive phone calls wherever there is a broadband connection simply by signing in to your VoIP
account. This makes VoIP as convenient as email if you are traveling, simply pack a headset or
Internet phone and you can talk to your family or business associates for almost nothing.
4. No extra cables, no extra cost :
A VoIP phone number, unlike your regular phone number, is completely portable. Most commonly
referred to as a virtual number, you can take it with you anywhere you go.

While millions of people can easily be seen as holding sales jobs, the promotional techniques used
in selling are also part of the day–to–day activities of many who are usually not directly associated
with selling. For instance, top corporate executives whose job title is CEO or COO are continually
selling their company to major customers, stock investors, government officials and many other
stakeholders. The techniques they employ to gain benefits for their company are the same used by
the front–line salesperson to sell to a small customer. Consequently, our discussion of the
promotional value of personal selling has implications beyond marketing and sales departments.
Advantages of Personal Selling
One key advantage personal selling has over other promotional methods is that it is a two–way form
of communication. In selling situations the message sender (e.g., salesperson) can adjust the
message as they gain feedback from message receivers (e.g., customer). So if a customer does not
understand the initial message (e.g., doesn't fully understand how the product works) the salesperson
can make adjustments to address questions or concerns. Many non–personal forms of promotion,
such as a radio advertisement, are inflexible, at least in the short–term, and cannot be easily adjusted
to address audience questions.
The interactive nature of personal selling also makes it the most effective promotional method for

An Essay on 3G Wireless Communication Technology
Branch: EEE
The advent of Wireless Communication
Communication has been one of the most fundamental aspects of human development. It took the
eccentric genius of Nikola Tesla to come up with the design of the first radio transmitter in 1891.
The first transatlantic radio communication in 1901 was a sign of further things to come.
Communication technologies that have been developed over the last century have largely shaped
human interaction and have played a crucial role in sustaining human relationship be it ... Show

The recent introduction of 3G mobile services in India have however brought in enhanced data and
voice transmission and are welcome signs in the improvement in mobile communication technology.
The essay deals in–depth with 3G wireless technology and the difference with its successors (3.5G
and 4G) and predecessor (2G).
3G (3rd generation mobile telecommunications)
3G wireless technology represents the convergence of various 2G wireless telecommunications
systems into a single global system that includes both terrestrial and satellite components. One of
the most important aspects of 3G wireless technology is its ability to unify existing cellular
standards, such as CDMA, GSM, and TDMA, under one umbrella. It improves the efficiency of data
can be transferred through the cellular phone. The data transfer rates for third generation mobile
telecommunications is up to 2 Megabits per second. Aside from this feature, 3G cellular phones also
have conventional voice, fax and data services, as well as high–resolution video and multimedia
services which can be used while on the move. It also includes mobile office services such as virtual
banking and online–billing, video conferencing, online entertainment and access to the Internet.
International Mobile Telecommunications–2000 (IMT–2000), better known as 3G or 3rd
Generation, is a family of standards for mobile telecommunications defined by the International
Telecommunication Union, which includes GSM EDGE, UMTS, and

Voice Of Voice Over Internet Protocol
Abstract
When Voice over Internet Protocol was being introduced, it was perfectly engineered to work using
the existing model and infrastructure without bearing huge cost. VoIP uses Internet Protocol to
connect, transmit and terminate the calls. Most of the industry is using VoIP services to connect their
offices locally, in different cities and in different countries. VoIP enables User/client to place a
telephonic call to their offices/friends/families. This paper will focus on how VoIP works and what
are the security concerns. Also the industry's concern about Quality of Service (QoS) and will
discuss about threats in general.
Introduction
IP is used for data communication and for Voice Dialogue exchanged between two parties, is also
carried on the same data network. Data network could be a private network (Local offices within a
city or many cities in the same country/region and also using IPLC's to connect other
countries/continents) or on Internet by creating Hard/soft VPN tunneling in between the offices. In
general discuss it is considered on the Internet only but it being used by creating point to point
connect using Wireless or only data connectivity between two office. Using Internet to transmit VoIP
traffic is very inexpensive as compared to Local data connectivity or using your IPLC. Phone calls
are placed using VoIP over any kind of data connectivity. The simplest way of VoIP communication
is, when both the parties can receive and make calls using internet.

can create flexibility, better customer service, and increased productivity. This will also create a
home–based virtual office environment. This will help with employee retention, especially those
that are experienced and skilled. Travel Agency, Inc. ultimately wants to move to a leaner and
smaller footprint to save costs and to help service their customer base. However, to do this, Travel
Agency, Inc. will need to overhaul their network to meet the requirements of a telecommuting
business model. This business model will ultimately serve to help Travel Agency, Inc. grow and
thrive in this highly aggressive and competitive market. Project Background Industry Before the
days of the Internet, if a family wanted to travel to a far–off, exotic locale, they would have to either
find a local travel agent or call a travel agency and plan their getaway. In the 1990's, the Internet
became a staple of everyday life and began entering many homes. As the availability of the Internet
increased, so did the services available to clients. With the increasing availability of the World Wide
Web the travel industry found itself faced with revolutionizing changes. All of the tools that were
once solely available to travel agents now became readily available to anyone with access to the
Internet and a search engine. Websites quickly formed around the idea of providing consumers with
quick vacation planning ideas at low costs. Getting

Past, Present and Future Trends in the Use of Computers in Fisheries Research
Bernard A. Megrey and Erlend Moksness
I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever
created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their
user. Bill Gates, Co–founder, Microsoft Corporation Long before Apple, one of our engineers came
to me with the suggestion that Intel ought to build a computer for the home. And I asked him, 'What
the heck would anyone want a computer for in his home?' It seemed ridiculous! Gordon Moore, Past

Our aim is to provide critical reviews on the latest, most significant developments in selected topic
areas that are at the cutting edge of the application of computers in fisheries and their application to
the conservation and management of aquatic resources. In many cases, these are the same authors
who contributed to the first edition, so the decade of perspective they provide is unique and
insightful. Many of the topics in this book cover areas that were predicted in 1989 to be important in
the future (Walters 1989) and continue to be at the forefront of applications that drive our science
forward: image processing, stock assessment, simulation and games, and networking. The chapters
that follow update these areas as well as introduce several new chapter topic areas. While we
recognize the challenge of attempting to present up to date information given the rapid pace of
change in computers and the long time lines for publishing books, we hope that the chapters in this
book taken together, can be valuable where they suggest emerging trends and future directions that
impact the role computers are likely to serve in fisheries research.

Build up an Effective Website
The website must be designed and built to work for the organisation's strategy. Basically there are
two essentials of an effective website, attractiveness and meeting the needs of visitors.
Technologies that an organisation could choose to enable the Web to deliver rich information (Oz,
2006) are HTTP, HTML and XML, FTP, RSS, Blogs, podcasting, Instant Messaging, Cookies and
proprietary technologies.
The organisation can choose to own and maintain a server to build the website with its own IT staff
or outsource the service from website hosting service or storefront broker.
The organization should register a domain name related to its business, and include a Meta tag to
make the website search engine friendly so that people can easily find the website when not
knowing the address.
If the website serves the organization for its global strategy, the website should be able to adapt to
the local culture and language to the target market.
Internet in Supply Chain
Internet has helped to speed up the goods and information flow between manufacturers, distributors,
retailers and customers. By connecting Supply Chain Management (SCM) Systems to the suppliers
and buyers, organisations shall be able to better plan the demand, control inventory and fulfil
demands more effectively and efficiently. It helps organisations to reduce the risk of under or over

NOTE: To ensure that quality of service requirements are achieved, the Voice–over IP (VoIP) service
over the wide area network (WAN) should be protected from packet losses, latency or jitter. To
reach this objective, the network performance can be managed using statistical techniques such as
traffic engineering. The standard bandwidth of an integrated services digital network (ISDN) data
link would not provide the quality of services required for corporate VoIP services. WEP is an
encryption scheme related to wireless networking. The VoIP phones are usually connected to a
corporate local area network (LAN) and are not analog. 7. An IS auditor selects a server for a
penetration test that will be carried out by a technical specialist. Which of the following is MOST
important? A. The tools used to conduct the test B. Certifications held by the IS auditor C.
Permission from the data owner of the server D. An intrusion detection system (IDS) is enabled

It is anticipated that 4G speeds could be as high as 100 Mbps. Thus, 4G will represent another
quantum leap in mobile Internet speeds and picture quality. Ericsson confirms that 4G could bring
connection speeds of up to 50 times faster than 3G networks and could offer three–dimensional
visual experiences for the first time. The following graph represents what has been the typical
progression of wireless communications:
Quality of Service Challenges In wireless networks, Quality of Service (QOS) refers to the
measure of the performance for a system reflecting its transmission quality and service availability
(e.g., 4G is expected to have at least a reliability of 99.99%). Supporting QOS in 4G networks will
be a major challenge. When considering QOS, the major hurdles to overcome in 4G include: varying
rate channel characteristics, bandwidth allocations, fault tolerance levels, and handoff support
among heterogeneous wireless networks. Fortunately, QOS support can occur at the packet,
transaction, circuit, and network levels. QOS will be able to be tweaked at these different operating
levels, making the network more flexible and possibly more tolerant to QOS issues. Varying rate
channel characteristics refers to the fact that 4G applications will have varying bandwidth and
transition rate requirements. In order to provide solid network access to support the anticipated 4G
applications, the 4G networks must be designed with both flexibility and scalability. Varying

The Virtual Reality Simulation Environment For Assembly...
Cloud based IoT interactions to support simulation analysis using VAE (don't change this title, use it
in last section of paper befor examples)
Overview
In this section, we discuss a case study involving use of the Virtual Reality simulation environment
for assembly analysis (VAE?) and GENI resources; the primary emphasis was to compare suitability
of remote collabora– tion protocols that can support several engineers from different locations to
analyze the design of micro parts and propose, compare and validate/modify assembly plans. The
GENI resources utilized in this case study included the ProtoGENI aggregate [4], and the
OnTimeMeasure [6] software for instrumentation and measurement.
The potential benefits for allowing a user to collaborate with remote experts while assessing a part's
design by utilizing virtual reality environments and other tools is attractive to both education and
commercial manufacturing segments. Vir– tualization and cloud–based resources offer affordable as
well as on–demand methods for students in K–12 and universities to learn about advanced
manufacturing problems without the need of expensive local resources. Research efforts has
emphasized the emergence of cyber physical frameworks to support assembly of micro devices

They would only need a microphone, speakers, or a telephone that is VOIP enabled. Even though
there are up–front cost involved with the IP phone system, it will reduced the communication and
network management cost by 20 to 30 percent. This is a chart example of how VOIP works.
The chart above demonstrates how the system is used (Essentials of Management Information
Systems, CH. 6, pp. 209). The computer services and telecommunications cost will be lower with
this type of system installed in the organization, which will remove the recurring charges of private
lines. Another type of internet tool that would benefit the company would be a VPN (Virtual Private
Network). A VPN is a secure, encrypted, private network that has been configured within a public
network to take advantage of the economies of scale and management facilities of large networks,
such as the Internet provides your organization with secure, encrypted communications at a much
lower cost than the same capabilities offered by traditional non–Internet providers who use their
private networks to secure communications. VPNs also provide a network infrastructure for
combining voice and data networks (Essentials of Management Information Systems, CH. 6, pp.

about the email been accessed by non–employees. For instance, if a company came up with a new

A description of the current information systems Operational systems, databases, and data
warehousing One of the main functions of any business is to be able to use data to leverage a
strategic competitive advantage. The use of relational databases is a necessity for contemporary
organizations; however, data warehousing has become a strategic priority due to the enormous
amounts of data that must be analyzed along with the varying sources from which data comes.
Company gathers data by using Web analytics and operational systems, we must design a solution
overview that incorporates data warehousing. The executive team needs to be clear about what data
warehousing can provide the company. Operational systems Operational systems are optimized for
preservation of data integrity and speed of recording of business transactions through use of
database normalization and an entity–relationship model. Operational system designers generally
follow the Codd rules of database normalization in order to ensure data integrity. Relational
databases are efficient at managing the relationships between these tables. The databases have very
fast insert/update performance because only a small amount of data in those tables is affected each
time a transaction is processed. Finally, in order to improve performance, older data are usually
periodically purged from operational systems. Databases and data

The application server will provide the processing power for the transactions that are processed on
the website. The most important considerations for this server are its speed and memory. The
website being designed by Primus will eventually include a comprehensive list of features. Each one
of these features will place an additional burden on the system processes and memory. In support of
the demands placed on an application server's memory and processing power, Rayport–Jaworski
(2003) says The logic involved in implementing the business rules can at time be convoluted and
can require a fair amount of processing power to determine (p. 362).
The requirements of the web server will depend a great deal on the architecture of the site. If the
page displays are largely a product of the logic of the application servers, the web server's job will
be a simple matter of passing data to the application server. If a large number of static pages such as
forms and documents are utilized in the site, the web server's job will be more demanding. The
situation expected at Primus is that it will have a number of different page templates and a great deal
of processing to generate the content for these templates. For this reason, the web server will be one
with disk storage and access speed beyond the capabilities of the application server, but less than the
capabilities of the database server. The processing speed

a) Trends and Projections Today's on–line travel market is succeeding because the companies are
using a more software–centric, online business model termed E–commerce. This has become the
popular avenue for businesses as it mirrors the ideas of mobility. The sheer amount of data available,
coupled with the advanced operating systems and social media platforms, have created new
possibilities for E–commerce organizations. The infrastructure of E–commerce has expanded into
platforms such as peer–to–peer networking, crowd–sourcing, social websites, and mobile devices
and media. E–commerce trends are findings ways to incorporate every aspect of our daily lives into
an online package associated with our everyday needs (Fishbein, 2013). Following the invention of
Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), primarily used by the airline, banking, and retail industries
during the late 1960s, the introduction of E–Commerce progressed towards a global enterprise
design which incorporated commerce for web, mobile and the business–to–customer and business–
to–business models. Such designs became more useful as they increased the ability to manage and
provide powerful tools to aid potential customers with searching, merchandising, master data
management, order management, and web content management. Such designs present a great

2.2 Objectives The objectives of this study are: – to provide a comprehensive perspective of markets
for Data Centres across Vietnam, – to identify important market drivers, – to assess current
challenges and opportunities; and – to determine a prognosis for the sector over the next few years
with space and service value forecasts. First Draft Bien Nguyen (nguyenngocbien@yahoo.com;
+84 95 888 8910) 3. Market Overview 3.1 Introduction Although Vietnam remains underdeveloped
in the sector, but this country is also considered as an obvious opportunity for future development.
The growth of Data Centres in Vietnam is linked to the growth in Internet penetration throughout the
country. The growth of Data Centers in Vietnam is also pushed by the growth, both in number and
size, of enterprises who are increasingly demanding professional ICT services and outsourcing as a
trend to cut cost and boost productivity. The following statistics illustrate such relationship. Basic
and updated statistics on the Internet development in Vietname are provided in Table 1. It is quite
interesting to note that there is more than one–fourth of the population has access to the Internet, but
the number of broadband Internet users account for only 12.7% of total Internet users. Among
Southeast Asia countries, Vietnam is ranked after Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, in range of
Thailand, and above countries like Indonesia, the

Main Aspects Of Vendors And Packages
IV. Vendor Comparisons Below is a table comparing the various key aspects of vendors and
packages they offer. Table 2 summarizes the main added media channels supported by these
contact–center packages. A checkmark in this table indicates areas that we consider fully addressed
in an off–the–shelf manner; otherwise, comments provide a brief explanation. There are other media
channels that aren't reflected in Table 2 including fax capabilities, which is broadly supported by all
these package offerings. Another up and coming feature is the ability for desktop sharing, where an
agent may aid a customer in completing a form by sharing the mouse and keystrokes. Because of its
nature and thought of security concerns it is used sparingly. Total Cost The following table (table 3)
is a comparison of the major cost components. These are U.S. List prices, and may not always
compare the same configurations, functions, or features. In some cases, the incremental per–agent
charge is based on total defined agent seats, while in others it is based on concurrently logged–in
agents, or ports. Pricing shown is U.S. List, per–seat or per–concurrent agent (per–port), for
software only (unless noted otherwise) While they vary considerably in some architectural respects,
contact centers utilize many of the same subsystems and components regardless of the vendor.
Specific architecture can be different per vendor based on requirements and the packages chosen for

Friedman shows how, as services and goods become increasingly tradable, more jobs are likely to
become outsourced, digitized, or automated. He predicts that untouchable jobs in the new flat world
will fall into three, broad categories: people who are special or specialized (e.g. Madonna,
Michael Jordan, or your brain surgeon); people who are localized and anchored (e.g. waitresses,
lawyers, plumbers, nurses, etc.); and the old middle jobs (e.g. people in the middle class who are
under pressure because their jobs are becoming tradable). Friedman explores what he thinks the new
middle–class jobs will be in the flat world, calling the people who will occupy those jobs––which he
divides into eight categories–– the new middlers. The eight categories are: Great Collaborators
and Orchestrators, The Great Synthesizers, The Great Explainers, The Great Leveragers,
The Great Adapters, The Green People, The Passionate Personalizers, and The Great
Localizers. Friedman outlines four skill sets and attitudes that educators and employers point to as
the right stuff to make it in the flat world. The first skill set individuals must possess is the ability
to learn how to learn. The second skill set is what Friedman dubs CQ + PQ IQ, or that
curiosity and passion, combined, are more important than intelligence. The third skill set/ attitude
Friedman uncovers is Plays Well with Others. The final skill set

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Speech Recognition

  • 1. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Speech Recognition CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION People use calculators to perform calculations that have a numeric keypad to input the data and a display to get the result. To overcome this, speech signal can be used to input the data and the result is an audio signal. Speech is the vocalized form of human communication. It ranges from 90 Hz to 7,000 Hz. Each spoken word is created out of the phonetic combination of a limited set of vowel and consonant speech sound units. The voiced speech of a typical adult male will have a fundamental frequency from 85 to 180 Hz, and that of a typical adult female from 165 to 255 Hz. Thus, the fundamental frequency of most speech falls below the bottom of the "voice frequency" band as defined above. Speech recognition is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally the more traing, the higher the perfromance of the system for virtually any task. The reference pattern are sensitive to the speaking environment and transmission characteristics of the medium used to create the speech, this is because the speech spectral characteristics are affected by transmission and background noise. No speech–specific knowledge is used explicitly in the system; hence the method is relatively in sensitive to choice of vocabulary words, task, syntax, and task semantics. The computational load for both pattern training and pattern classification is generally linearly proportional to the number of patterns being trained or recognized. Hence computation for a large number of sound classes could and often does become prohibitive. Because the system is insensitive to sound class, the basic techniques are applicable to a wide range of speech sounds, including phrases, whole words and sub word units. The basic set of techniques developed for one sound class (e.g., words) can generally be directly applied to different sound classes (e.g., subword units) with little or no modifications to the ... Consumer electronic products, telecom industry and globalization – The focus of this paper is to review the sourcing strategy of Apple, a technology company providing consumer electronic product, and examine if it is a good fit for telecom industry to adopt the same strategy. Consumer electronic by definition is any device that contains an electronic circuit board and is intended for everyday use by an individual to enhance the quality of life. These devices can be found in communication, office and entertainment products. Some examples of consumer products are television, personal computer, cell phone, refrigerator, washer and dryer. Traditionally, consumer electronic refers mainly to products that installed or used specifically at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advancement of technology has made distinguishing some consumer electronic products from telecom equipment difficult. For example, cell phone and laptop are both categorized as consumer electronic product by the definition of consumer electronic product. However, since cell phone is a tool for communication, it also can be categorized as telecom product as per the definition of telecom equipment. Similarly, laptop can be used to communicate via VoIP as well as exchange information over a distance. By definition, laptop also fits well as a telecom product. Of the vast number of choices, I have decided on two that I feel the company should implement soon than later. The first Internet tool that I recommend for the company is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). "A VPN is a secure, encrypted, private network that has been configured within a public network to take advantage of larger networks, such as the internet" (Laudon & Laudon,2013 [Leave a space after the comma] ). VPN benefits are endless, but the most obvious is, the company would be able to e–mail one another with no risk of outsiders gaining access to sensitive information. This would be particularly helpful if the company develops new products and sensitive specs need to be e–mailed to a manufacturing employee halfway around the world. In addition to the added security VPN's provide the benefit of lowering communication costs by providing encrypted services at a lower rate than say a traditional non– Internet provider would offer. My second recommendation would be the use of Voice over IP (VoIP), which is a popular voice transmission and corporate networking platform. "All employees ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, top corporate executives whose job title is CEO or COO are continually selling their company to major customers, stock investors, government officials and many other stakeholders. The techniques they employ to gain benefits for their company are the same used by the front–line salesperson to sell to a small customer. Consequently, our discussion of the promotional value of personal selling has implications beyond marketing and sales departments.

So if a customer does not understand the initial message (e.g., doesn't fully understand how the product works) the salesperson can make adjustments to address questions or concerns. Many non–personal forms of promotion, such as a radio advertisement, are inflexible, at least in the short–term, and cannot be easily adjusted to address audience questions. Voice Of Voice Over Internet Protocol Abstract When Voice over Internet Protocol was being introduced, it was perfectly engineered to work using the existing model and infrastructure without bearing huge cost. VoIP uses Internet Protocol to connect, transmit and terminate the calls. Most of the industry is using VoIP services to connect their offices locally, in different cities and in different countries. VoIP enables User/client to place a telephonic call to their offices/friends/families. This paper will focus on how VoIP works and what are the security concerns. Also the industry's concern about Quality of Service (QoS) and will discuss about threats in general. Introduction IP is used for data communication and for Voice Dialogue exchanged between two parties, is also carried on the same data network. Data network could be a private network (Local offices within a city or many cities in the same country/region and also using IPLC's to connect other countries/continents) or on Internet by creating Hard/soft VPN tunneling in between the offices. In general discuss it is considered on the Internet only but it being used by creating point to point connect using Wireless or only data connectivity between two office. Using Internet to transmit VoIP traffic is very inexpensive as compared to Local data connectivity or using your IPLC. Phone calls are placed using VoIP over any kind of data connectivity. The simplest way of VoIP communication is, when both the parties can receive and make calls using internet. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Megrey and Erlend Moksness I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user. Bill Gates, Co–founder, Microsoft Corporation Long before Apple, one of our engineers came to me with the suggestion that Intel ought to build a computer for the home. Our aim is to provide critical reviews on the latest, most significant developments in selected topic areas that are at the cutting edge of the application of computers in fisheries and their application to the conservation and management of aquatic resources. In many cases, these are the same authors who contributed to the first edition, so the decade of perspective they provide is unique and insightful. Many of the topics in this book cover areas that were predicted in 1989 to be important in the future (Walters 1989) and continue to be at the forefront of applications that drive our science forward: image processing, stock assessment, simulation and games, and networking. The chapters that follow update these areas as well as introduce several new chapter topic areas. While we recognize the challenge of attempting to present up to date information given the rapid pace of change in computers and the long time lines for publishing books, we hope that the chapters in this book taken together, can be valuable where they suggest emerging trends and future directions that impact the role computers are likely to serve in fisheries research. 1 Past, Present and Future Trends in the Use of Computers 3

Build up an Effective Website The website must be designed and built to work for the organisation's strategy. Basically there are two essentials of an effective website, attractiveness and meeting the needs of visitors. Technologies that an organisation could choose to enable the Web to deliver rich information (Oz, 2006) are HTTP, HTML and XML, FTP, RSS, Blogs, podcasting, Instant Messaging, Cookies and proprietary technologies. The organisation can choose to own and maintain a server to build the website with its own IT staff or outsource the service from website hosting service or storefront broker. The organization should register a domain name related to its business, and include a Meta tag to make the website search engine friendly so that people can easily find the website when not knowing the address. If the website serves the organization for its global strategy, the website should be able to adapt to the local culture and language to the target market. Internet in Supply Chain Internet has helped to speed up the goods and information flow between manufacturers, distributors, retailers and customers. The following graph represents what has been the typical progression of wireless communications: Quality of Service Challenges In wireless networks, Quality of Service (QOS) refers to the measure of the performance for a system reflecting its transmission quality and service availability (e.g., 4G is expected to have at least a reliability of 99.99%). Supporting QOS in 4G networks will be a major challenge. When considering QOS, the major hurdles to overcome in 4G include: varying rate channel characteristics, bandwidth allocations, fault tolerance levels, and handoff support among heterogeneous wireless networks. Fortunately, QOS support can occur at the packet, transaction, circuit, and network levels. QOS will be able to be tweaked at these different operating levels, making the network more flexible and possibly more tolerant to QOS issues. Varying rate channel characteristics refers to the fact that 4G applications will have varying bandwidth and transition rate requirements. The most important considerations for this server are its speed and memory. The website being designed by Primus will eventually include a comprehensive list of features. Each one of these features will place an additional burden on the system processes and memory. In support of the demands placed on an application server's memory and processing power, Rayport–Jaworski (2003) says The logic involved in implementing the business rules can at time be convoluted and can require a fair amount of processing power to determine (p. 362). The requirements of the web server will depend a great deal on the architecture of the site. If the page displays are largely a product of the logic of the application servers, the web server's job will be a simple matter of passing data to the application server. If a large number of static pages such as forms and documents are utilized in the site, the web server's job will be more demanding. The situation expected at Primus is that it will have a number of different page templates and a great deal of processing to generate the content for these templates. For this reason, the web server will be one with disk storage and access speed beyond the capabilities of the application server, but less than the capabilities of the database server.
