2. The movie was taken from the life story
of Marva Collins,a public school teacher
who is very dedicated in her profession
and is very passionate to educate
children. In the public school where she is
teaching,her colleagues are against in her
way of teaching because they believe
that the behavior of their students will
never change.
3. Marva can no longer understand the
policy of the school,so she decided to
build her own primary school. Marvas
husband as well as her children
supported her. At first, only few
students enrolled in her school even if
the tuition fee is low. These students
have difficulties in learning,but Marva
is so persevered to teach them.
4. She faced financial crises but it did not
stop her. It even reached to a point
where she thought of closing it, but
God is so good to her because
someone published an article about
her school and donations came. Later,
the population increased. Marvas
school became successful as well as
her students.

- A talented and and determined teacher who
leaves Chicago’s public school system to open
her own school.

- Husband of Marva Collins who helped his
wife in creating own school.

*Patience in handling students
differences in behavior and
attitude.
*Love towards the students
regardless of race, social
status, and etc.
7. As I watched the movie, I
was amazed by the courage of
Marva Collins. As a future
teacher, I was motivated to be
an effective teacher in the
future. I am encourage
perform better and effectively
in the field.
8. Also,I want to develop my
students not just
intellectually but in a holistic
manner but I will start the
change in my self first
because as the saying goes
“We cannot give what we
don’t have”.
