Question 6 Evaluation Media Coursework

2. From constructing my magazine, I have developed a lot of new
technology skills from creating a Fronter page to using
Photoshop. To show the steps of constructing my magazine
including prior research, planning and evaluation, I used
Fronter to put everything onto and divided all the sections.
Here are some of the new technologies I have come across..

3. I used Fronter to present all of my coursework. Before this
project, I only used Fronter to view pages set by teachers in all
my subjects, but now I know how they make their pages and add
things onto it such as links, text, and images. I also learnt how
to embed videos onto Fronter from YouTube as I had to do this
to put my interviews on the target audience page and also when
I did my subject matter research.
I think Fronter was straight forward to use but I think it would
have been a lot easier to use a blog page because of Fronter
lacks creative elements and is very limited compared to a blog.

5. We had access to use iMacs in our media lessons which I learnt
a lot from. It was my first time using an iMac computer and got
very confused at the beginning with how to use it. Whilst doing
my coursework, I also learnt my way around the iMacs and know
how to use certain controls which you don’t use on other
computers.

6. Of course, to construct my product, I had to ensure that it
reached a level of professionalism to make sure that it met the
standards of a popular, well-known magazine. This meant using
Photoshop, a software which all professional designers use to
make sure their product reaches that level of professionalism.
Before this project, I only understood Photoshop to a minor
level but whilst having to construct my magazine, I learnt new
skills within the software.

7. Some of these skills include the lasso tool, the magic wand tool
and the spot healing brush tool.

8. I also had help from the media technician and my teacher at
school on the more complex things on Photoshop and taking
professional photos in the school studio. Doing a photo shoot in
the school studio allowed me to use equipment which I couldn't
have used at home. For example, the flashgun and the studio
lights.

9. I used a lot of new equipment whilst taking photo shoots. These
include the Nikon D3000, a tripod, a flashgun, and studio lights.

11. Overall, I feel like I have developed a wider understanding in
new technology and have learnt a lot of new skills whilst
constructing my product.
