The document discusses how the author used various media technologies at different stages of creating a film trailer project. A blog was used to organize research and planning by documenting information and idea changes. YouTube was used extensively to research conventions of different trailer genres. Camera and editing skills improved as the trailer progressed, with shakier initial clips replaced by more focused footage. Photoshop was used to edit photos for the poster and magazine cover, such as adjusting brightness, contrast, and adding text elements.

How I used media to plan and showcase my film trailer project
1. 4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research , planning and evaluation stages?
2. How did I use the blog to organize the research and planning ? I used the blog to organize the research and planning, firstly by making sure that all the research I found out I added it to my blog straight away so the my blog was in order of when I found out the information or when I have come up with another idea for my trailer. Also I made sure that if I had changed some of my idea for my trailer I put it on my blog straight away, so that I didn’t start putting my idea into action before I had referred to it on my blog. Also on the research part of the work I made sure that where possible I kept the analysis of the trailer separate from the analysis of the magazine covers and the analysis of the poster separate as well, this is because I want to talk about them separately and in more detail than doing a general overview of them as a whole.
3. How I used my blog to showcase my production? I used my blog to showcase my production by every time I thought of another idea or I had added to my trailer, I added it to my blog straight away. This was to show the different stages of developing my trailer and to show how and what programmes I used to create different things e.g. I mainly used Adobe Premiere Elements to develop my film trailer.
4. Screen shot that I added to my blog to show the start of my trailer.
6. How I used the internet to research trailers and their conventions I used the internet quite alot in the research of trailer and there conventions, one of the main website I used was youtube.com I found this website very useful when doing my research as you just had to type in the genre of trailer that you were looking for and it would come up with lots of trailers in that particular genre. I looked at lots of different trailers but in the same genre and worked out what was the same about them and what was different, which helped me find out also what the main conventions are. When researching the trailer I looked at aspect such as music (fast or slow), titles (where they came in the trailer), clips (short or long) and voice over.
7. How did your camera/editing skills develop as your trailer progressed? My camera skill had developed throughout my trailer progression as my first set of clips weren't very good as they were quite shaky and had lots of bits that weren’t relevant in my filming such as other people or animals. However the second set of clips I took were a lot better as they weren’t as shaky and they just focused on what needed to be in the trailer (these were the clips that I used in my final trailer). Also I had never used Adobe premiere elements before so I had to work out what did what and how it changed the clips. I feel that after a few hours of experimenting with the programme I had quite a good idea of how to use it to get different effects and to add it things like fade- ins and fade-outs. As my trailer progressed i added more and more effects and edited the trailer more and more.
8. How did you use photography, Photoshop, Publisher etc to create your posters and magazine covers? For my magazine cover and poster I used a photograph for each, I had to decide on what sort of photograph I wanted to achieve and what i wanted in that photograph. I decided to used the picture of the setting for my poster as it created the atmospheric effect that i wanted. I did edit this photograph quite alot on Photoshop as i felt that the picture could do with being a little bit darker than what it was so I used the brightness tool and the contrast tool to make the picture darker, and also I changed the picture from colour to black and white as I feel that that gives the picture a more spooky and creates more atmosphere. On the magazine cover I used Adobe Photoshop quite a lot. The first aspect of my magazine cover I used Photoshop for was to change the picture I used for the background, I changed the picture to black and white to match in with the poster and the trailer then I added back in some of the colours to make it stand out and it will make the picture more interesting. I also used Photoshop to add things in such as the text and I used the shape tool for the ‘free posters inside’ part. Then finally I added in a barcode, which I added onto the magazine then used the programme to resize and edit it to make it fit in with the size of the magazine.
