2. Research into Vinyl album covers

i began my research by going through other popular vinyl album covers that i liked
and analysed them in order to find out the best features, which i could take out of
them and include in my album cover.
I really like the concept of this
particular album cover, even
though its audience is children.
i feel that the use of colour
has been done very well. i like
the way the artist has used a
wide range of shades of red to
represent the feeling of ‘anger.’
i also like the concept of it
being a mirror, therefore we are
seeing someones reflection rather
than someone themself, which
says a lot about the artist.

i ReaLLY LIKE A LOT OF ASPECTS OF THIS
PARTICULAR ALBUM COVER. i LIKE THE
WAY THEY HAVE USED TEXT WHICH
RESEMBLES ACTUAL HAND WRITING. i
LIKE THIS ASPECT BECAUSE IT RELECTS
THE LITLE. iT IS ALSO VERYSIMPLE
WHICH MAKES IT EFFECTIVE. THE TITLE
‘IF YOUR READING THIS ITS TOO LATE’
GIVES ACROSS THE IMPRESSION THAT
IT IS ALREADY TO LATE WHICH SAYS
A LOT ABOUT THE bA;LBUM AND THE
ARTIST. I ALSO LIKE HOW THE NAME
OF THE ARTIST IS NOT INCLUDED AS
IT SUGGESTS FORCES PEOPLE TO KNOW
THAT ARTIST, EPECIALLY SINCE THEY
ARE EASTBLISHED.
Again, this has a colour schem,e that
stands out, a concept which is represten-
tative of the name, ‘ocymoron.’ and a text
which also represejnts the concept and/or
name as it is almost like writing.
3. i managed to get a lot from this par-
ticular alubum cover. I like the fact
that the design was simple which can
be very effective, especially with it’s
use of the simple colour sceme. The
design is also very abstract and is a
good way of presenting it due to it’s
abiliy to represent the artist with
the use of ‘2 chains.’
This one took a very different ap-
proach to the making of their album
cover. This was particularly decpe-
tive due to it’s use of two different
photo’s. The first one a baby in the
water after some money, perposely
on a string. This shows the allure of
money from birth which all humans
have. The fact that it is on a string
suggests it is a trap.
In the secound photo, it shows the
same photo but with an extension
which shows sharks around. This
demonstrates how money and our
need for wealth is killing us. This is
good because i sends a message and
it’s representative of that. It is reveal-
ing and tells us a lot aqbout precep-
tion. This can be good when trying
to provoke a reaction from the au-
dience because it makes them want to
think about it.
This follows a similar aproach, using
the use of a mixture of religion and
gang life to get across a message. It
is not only representative of the mes-
sage but also the album ‘gang signs
and prayer.’ Another thing that
stands out is there bold use of col-
our which not only gets an audience
but also focuses on the artist.
This is also a very bold choice. They
have used the artists main focus, epe-
cially since the artist dosn’t show her
face and therefore it is representa-
tional of the artist. The colour sceme
is also very bolod and stand out. The
text is also very unique and stands
out as it looks as if it is craved which
gives across childish connotations.
Compiled points about Album covers
The research i have complied when looking through previous album covers is that the album
cover needs to have a concept and must be representative of either the artist, message, album
or album,. It also needs bold colours which clash in majority of cases. Finally, something
that makes the audience think would be the best concept.
4. Research into posters
I like this poster particularly because of it’s simple, yet
effective design along with the technique used to create
the record. This is mostly because It reflects the place of
the gig as well as the gig itself. This is due to the use of
the fact it is a painting and the stick is made into a paint
brush. This makes you think a lot.
This poster is good as well. I like
the way picture of the marble being
smashed up into a lot of pieces. It
makes the entire picture a close into a
small section of time which is effec-
tive. The simple use of colour is also
effective.
I like this one because of its com-
plex concept. Above water is a boat
sinking but below water, in a differ-
ent perspective, is a lot of anchors,
pulling it down.
I like this one because of its
bold text which gets the audi-
ence’s attention. The fact that
the shot of the stage is a point
of view shot from an audience
member, gives the audience an
insight into how it would be,
therefore, selling it to them.
5. I like the way that they have split the guitar in half
and used one half to do all the writing, it makes it
more appealing to the eye and is a fun way to get the
attention of the audience.
This one is good, not only
because of its simple use of
colour but also because of its
dim yet revealing use of light-
ing and colour grading in the
picture which says a lot about
the genre which is jazz.
They have done a good job with the use of typolo-
gy in this particular one as it reflects the band and
says a lot about their image. The fact that it is a
newspaper cut out suggests they are on the other
side of the law.
This one is good because of the text arrange-
ment which is winded around the man as if
an instrument which is a good way to po-
sition it. The use of black and white is also
very eye catching.
6. This one is good because of its
lack of text. Also, the colour
scheme will stand out to the
audience.
This one is a very good one for catching the
audience’s attention, it suggests the picture
is coming from the ipod, bringing the mu-
sic alive. The way that it is wormed in with
smoke, with a simple colour scheme is also
very effective.
I like this one because the text is very simple
yet effective and takes the audience to be per-
ceptive. The use if various colours in the shape
of paint is also very effective and eye catching.
7. Research into Flyers
This is effective because of it’s
colour use and text which cuts
of the picture and is very eye
catching.
This one is very plain, com-
pared to the rest. However, the
way that the text weaved into
the image is very effective.
The lack of image, messiness,
use of a lot of different texts,
and use of black and white
make this very unique and gets
the audience’s attention.
The positioning of this is very
neat and it’s a good way to
make this very easy for the
audience.
8. Research into t-shirts
This is good because of how
messy the image Is which
relates to the artist. The image
of text also let everyone know
who’s t-shirt it is.
This is very simple and there-
fore it is very effective.
The way this is a plant weaved
into a record player is very
appealing and takes a while
to take in which makes it very
good at catching attention
