CTK's Original Logo
CTK Ident Logo Mock-up 1
This is the process of making the CTK's channel logo. You could see I have kept the logo and turned
it into 3D (three-dimensional). We felt the original logo is sophisticated and really formal so we
decided to turn it into 3D to make it less formal and more abstract so it suit better for our target
audience + the original purple colour seems a bit dull so we decided to make it brighter and lively.
This is the process of the first attempt.
This is the first attempt, I thought there should be text so it can help people recognise the
logo/channel better. As we re-branded the logo, we need to let people know we're still CTK Channel.
I turn the logo sideway so we slightly feel the abstractness. I'm going to add the text 'CHRIST THE
KING' and keep the same font so it'll still be recognisable and keep the brand identity.
This is the second attempt. I added the text 'CHRIST THE KING' on the front of the logo. I also use
similar font so it's still recognisable. I will need to add the word 'TV', maybe on the top right corner
next to the logo so people will know it's an ident, not an advert (CTK TV). I will need to be careful
with the typography because if they're not clear enough for the audience to see, there will be
complaints and the audience can easily become annoyed and won't ever return to that TV channel.
This is the third attempt, you can see I have change the angle of logo but kept the 3D logo. I prefer
the other design than this one because I felt that it was more abstract than this design, I think some
people won't able to tell if the logo 3D. Although it's straight and similar to the original logo, we
wanted go for more abstract-looking which is the first design, where we can see the logo sideway.

We were thinking of doing animation in our suite of idents, this is just a little test with the CTK logo I
made with CINEMA 4D. If we're going with animation, I will need to watch couple tutorials on how
make animation fit with the environment otherwise it going to look completely fake and uncomfortable
as if it was made by children. It will be unlikely for us to use animation for the suite of idents as I don't
really have that knowledge of animation yet.
Problem and Solutions
There are a range of problems which we may come across in the production process such as health
and safety; budget; production practicalities; practical skills and resources. However, we have
conducted a detailed plan which will ensure that none of these problems stop us from our delivery of
the final product and its overall quality.
Health and safety issues
There are a number of health and safety issue when it comes to the production of a product like this. One may be
the chance of someone getting hurt during the shoot. This can happen in many ways, for example, if someone is
to trip and fall on a hazard of the location. There will be a variety of different procedures and acts put in place to
ensure that this does not happen. One example is a Risk Assessment being underwent before filming on any one
location. This will consist of someone who is a member of the production group – most probably the producer –
going to the location and looking at the possibly risks. They will thoroughly identify all of the possible risks of that
location no matter how small the risk is. They will then evaluate the risks on their level of risk (High, medium, low)
and identify any measures that will need to be taken in order to prevent the risks from becoming a hazard. If we
were to be filming on a road, for example, we would get the necessary documentation in order to close it,
therefore taking away the risk of someone on shoot getting hurt. All of this will be documented.
The health of both the production group and any actors included in the production will also need to be taken into
consideration. They will get regular breaks in between scenes and be given essentials such as fluids and food in
order to ensure the best health for them. One health and safety issue which may occur during the production of
this particular project is a member of the public being hurt or injured. If the necessary steps to ensure that this
does not happen does not help then we are supplied, by our school, with public liability insurance and so will not
have to pay out any unnecessary funds.
Budget
Budget also tend to be a problem when it comes to shooting. We have a budget of 50 pounds which will be
supplied by our team to undergo the shoot; however, sometimes there are issues which extend this budget. To
ensure that all goes smoothly, when it comes to budget, we have made a production budget. This will be a
breakdown by individual costs needed for the production. This will ensure that we stay in our budget. This will
include all aspects of filming including props, locations, travel etc.
However, sometimes shoots won’t go to plan. For example, if our shoot goes on longer than expected then we
might have to pay more for things such as travel, food, actors etc. This may be a problem. We have, however,
made a combat plan for that. We have only used a part of our funds so that the rest of the money may be used as
a contingency plan for the shoot. This way, there will be very little risk of us surpassing our budget. This is not to
mention, the fact that our school is the main source of our equipment and insurance which all come free to us.
Therefore, if it comes to it, we will be able to extend our shoot without drastically increasing our original budget.
All of these efforts will ensure that budget will not be a problem when it comes to our shoot.
Production practicalities
Production practicalities also have various problems that comes along with it. For example, the production may
not always go well. There are a number of things to put in place which will prevent this from becoming a problem.
One thing is the location. We may go to film on a location which isn’t right for the project we are undergoing.
Instead of lowering the standard, we will conductvarious Reccee’s of all of the locations. This will include someone
going to the location and taking pictures. They will then take notes on all things relevant. For example, whether
the location is suitable, the lighting in the location, possible problems with the location and so on. This will be
done in detail and pictures will be taken so the location can be looked back on and properly assessed. This will
ensure that the location will be up to standard and everything will go smoothly.
There may also be problems of the location chosen which wasn’t there before. For example, it could be closed or
whether may effects this. Various things can be done to put this right. For example, for each location, there will
be a contingency location encase the other location isn’t up to scratch. Therefore, we will never be short of
locations and the shoot will all go to plan.
Another thing that may help with this particular problem is a Production Schedulewhich will detail all information
needed when it comes to shooting. For example, the times we will be filming etc. In this, there will be time
included if things do not go to plan. For example, although the production plan will include the checking of
weather, it could suddenly begin to rain. Therefore, we might have to stop filming and come back another day,
which will be worked into our production schedule. On top of this, a scriptwill beproduced which will detail shoots
and save time. Any changes can then be noted down along the way.
All of these will ensure that the deadlines will be hit and it is to the best of standards. In fact, to ensure this high
level of quality. There will be quality management which will consist of meetings with the client carved out into the
production schedule to look at the project and discuss the quality and anything that may need to be improved .
There are also a lot of legal and regulatory or technical broadcast constraints which will need to be taken under
consideration. For example, if we were to include any signs or props or music which are owned, we would need
to get permission. This is also the use of songs, for example, if we were to use any songs then we would either get
permission or have royalty free or self-made music as a contingency plan. All of this will be broken down when
looking at the script of the project to ensure that this does not become a problem. This also goes for shooting
locations. Every location will be ensured to have permissions or we will go to our contingency plan.
A final production problem is the technical broadcast requirement of using colour safe colours and the correct
resolution. This may be a problem because some colours don’t display well. This and the resolution will result in
a product of lesser quality. This will, again, all be broken down within’ the script and story board to ensure that all
of the colours used on script are alright to use.
Practical skills
Obviously, one of the most important things, when it comes to shooting is the quality of a product and therefore
we will all need to have practical skills. To ensure that the quality of the product is good in all aspects we will assess
each member of our production group in order to decide who the best for each aspect is . Previous work we have
done as a group and before we became as a production group will be taken into consideration when it comes to
this aspect. We will also compare each member to the requirements of the role. After we have come to this
conclusion the producer will fill out a crew roles sheet which will detail who has what role and why they are the
best person for that particular job.
Resources
Finally, resources may be a problem. For example, we have to book our equipment through the school and
therefore it may not always be available to us.Therefore, we have decided to book equipment with enough time so
that we can adapt our production schedule. Therefore it will always go to plan. Also the mac suit also isn’t always
available. Therefore, we will have a copy of the timetable and plan for it with the production schedule. As said
before, if this does become a problem, we have ensured to give ourselves extra time to film with.

  • 8. Designs CTK's Original Logo CTK Ident Logo Mock-up 1 This is the process of making the CTK's channel logo. You could see I have kept the logo and turned it into 3D (three-dimensional). We felt the original logo is sophisticated and really formal so we decided to turn it into 3D to make it less formal and more abstract so it suit better for our target audience + the original purple colour seems a bit dull so we decided to make it brighter and lively. This is the process of the first attempt. This is the first attempt, I thought there should be text so it can help people recognise the logo/channel better. As we re-branded the logo, we need to let people know we're still CTK Channel. I turn the logo sideway so we slightly feel the abstractness. I'm going to add the text 'CHRIST THE KING' and keep the same font so it'll still be recognisable and keep the brand identity.
  • 9. This is the second attempt. I added the text 'CHRIST THE KING' on the front of the logo. I also use similar font so it's still recognisable. I will need to add the word 'TV', maybe on the top right corner next to the logo so people will know it's an ident, not an advert (CTK TV). I will need to be careful with the typography because if they're not clear enough for the audience to see, there will be complaints and the audience can easily become annoyed and won't ever return to that TV channel. This is the third attempt, you can see I have change the angle of logo but kept the 3D logo. I prefer the other design than this one because I felt that it was more abstract than this design, I think some people won't able to tell if the logo 3D. Although it's straight and similar to the original logo, we wanted go for more abstract-looking which is the first design, where we can see the logo sideway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oYSTJXVI8c We were thinking of doing animation in our suite of idents, this is just a little test with the CTK logo I made with CINEMA 4D. If we're going with animation, I will need to watch couple tutorials on how make animation fit with the environment otherwise it going to look completely fake and uncomfortable
  • 10. as if it was made by children. It will be unlikely for us to use animation for the suite of idents as I don't really have that knowledge of animation yet.
  • 11. Problem and Solutions There are a range of problems which we may come across in the production process such as health and safety; budget; production practicalities; practical skills and resources. However, we have conducted a detailed plan which will ensure that none of these problems stop us from our delivery of the final product and its overall quality. Health and safety issues There are a number of health and safety issue when it comes to the production of a product like this. One may be the chance of someone getting hurt during the shoot. This can happen in many ways, for example, if someone is to trip and fall on a hazard of the location. There will be a variety of different procedures and acts put in place to ensure that this does not happen. One example is a Risk Assessment being underwent before filming on any one location. This will consist of someone who is a member of the production group – most probably the producer – going to the location and looking at the possibly risks. They will thoroughly identify all of the possible risks of that location no matter how small the risk is. They will then evaluate the risks on their level of risk (High, medium, low) and identify any measures that will need to be taken in order to prevent the risks from becoming a hazard. If we were to be filming on a road, for example, we would get the necessary documentation in order to close it, therefore taking away the risk of someone on shoot getting hurt. All of this will be documented. The health of both the production group and any actors included in the production will also need to be taken into consideration. They will get regular breaks in between scenes and be given essentials such as fluids and food in order to ensure the best health for them. One health and safety issue which may occur during the production of this particular project is a member of the public being hurt or injured. If the necessary steps to ensure that this does not happen does not help then we are supplied, by our school, with public liability insurance and so will not have to pay out any unnecessary funds. Budget Budget also tend to be a problem when it comes to shooting. We have a budget of 50 pounds which will be supplied by our team to undergo the shoot; however, sometimes there are issues which extend this budget. To ensure that all goes smoothly, when it comes to budget, we have made a production budget. This will be a breakdown by individual costs needed for the production. This will ensure that we stay in our budget. This will include all aspects of filming including props, locations, travel etc. However, sometimes shoots won’t go to plan. For example, if our shoot goes on longer than expected then we might have to pay more for things such as travel, food, actors etc. This may be a problem. We have, however, made a combat plan for that. We have only used a part of our funds so that the rest of the money may be used as a contingency plan for the shoot. This way, there will be very little risk of us surpassing our budget. This is not to mention, the fact that our school is the main source of our equipment and insurance which all come free to us. Therefore, if it comes to it, we will be able to extend our shoot without drastically increasing our original budget. All of these efforts will ensure that budget will not be a problem when it comes to our shoot. Production practicalities Production practicalities also have various problems that comes along with it. For example, the production may not always go well. There are a number of things to put in place which will prevent this from becoming a problem. One thing is the location. We may go to film on a location which isn’t right for the project we are undergoing. Instead of lowering the standard, we will conductvarious Reccee’s of all of the locations. This will include someone going to the location and taking pictures. They will then take notes on all things relevant. For example, whether the location is suitable, the lighting in the location, possible problems with the location and so on. This will be done in detail and pictures will be taken so the location can be looked back on and properly assessed. This will ensure that the location will be up to standard and everything will go smoothly. There may also be problems of the location chosen which wasn’t there before. For example, it could be closed or whether may effects this. Various things can be done to put this right. For example, for each location, there will
  • 12. be a contingency location encase the other location isn’t up to scratch. Therefore, we will never be short of locations and the shoot will all go to plan. Another thing that may help with this particular problem is a Production Schedulewhich will detail all information needed when it comes to shooting. For example, the times we will be filming etc. In this, there will be time included if things do not go to plan. For example, although the production plan will include the checking of weather, it could suddenly begin to rain. Therefore, we might have to stop filming and come back another day, which will be worked into our production schedule. On top of this, a scriptwill beproduced which will detail shoots and save time. Any changes can then be noted down along the way. All of these will ensure that the deadlines will be hit and it is to the best of standards. In fact, to ensure this high level of quality. There will be quality management which will consist of meetings with the client carved out into the production schedule to look at the project and discuss the quality and anything that may need to be improved . There are also a lot of legal and regulatory or technical broadcast constraints which will need to be taken under consideration. For example, if we were to include any signs or props or music which are owned, we would need to get permission. This is also the use of songs, for example, if we were to use any songs then we would either get permission or have royalty free or self-made music as a contingency plan. All of this will be broken down when looking at the script of the project to ensure that this does not become a problem. This also goes for shooting locations. Every location will be ensured to have permissions or we will go to our contingency plan. A final production problem is the technical broadcast requirement of using colour safe colours and the correct resolution. This may be a problem because some colours don’t display well. This and the resolution will result in a product of lesser quality. This will, again, all be broken down within’ the script and story board to ensure that all of the colours used on script are alright to use. Practical skills Obviously, one of the most important things, when it comes to shooting is the quality of a product and therefore we will all need to have practical skills. To ensure that the quality of the product is good in all aspects we will assess each member of our production group in order to decide who the best for each aspect is . Previous work we have done as a group and before we became as a production group will be taken into consideration when it comes to this aspect. We will also compare each member to the requirements of the role. After we have come to this conclusion the producer will fill out a crew roles sheet which will detail who has what role and why they are the best person for that particular job. Resources Finally, resources may be a problem. For example, we have to book our equipment through the school and therefore it may not always be available to us.Therefore, we have decided to book equipment with enough time so that we can adapt our production schedule. Therefore it will always go to plan. Also the mac suit also isn’t always available. Therefore, we will have a copy of the timetable and plan for it with the production schedule. As said before, if this does become a problem, we have ensured to give ourselves extra time to film with.
