Tom Holmes-Wright (17) will perform the song in the music video playing guitar and singing, looking sad over a breakup with his girlfriend Elleah Stanton (17). Elleah (17) will appear in home video clips from when they were together, while Tom performs separately in black and white to show his depression over the breakup. The video will cut between Tom's somber performance and happy home video clips to contrast their current separation with memories of their relationship.

Young Artist's Emotional Music Video Performance
1.
2. Tom Holmes-Wright
Age: 17
Playing: The artist
Tom will be doing the performance aspect of the video, he will be
playing guitar and doing a little bit of singing too, and finally
concluding with an emotional ending where he looks at a photo of
his girlfriend: Elleah. He will look sombre throughout his
performance due to the breakup – It is pivotal that his performance
contrasts to the happy mood put forth in the home video.
3. Elleah Stanton
Age: 17
Playing: The Girlfriend
Elleah features in the home video section of my music video, the idea
is that the performer is behind the camera and therefore never
shows up in this section. This was decided as it looks more like an
event has happened to see them separate as the overarching
theme of the video, therefore they are not shown together in the
home video as It is the performer reminiscing about his lost love.
4. The song is by Ed Sheeran and therefore my inspiration for costume comes from the
man himself. He has a very particular image which centres around not dressing up
and creating a false image of himself, for this reason the hoodie look has become a
hallmark of his image. With the theme of a separation being prominent in my music
video I have opted for this look, as well as it being his image, I feel the performer
would not dress more lazy. By this I mean he would look more rough and less made
up due to the fact he is now on his own and not looking to impress his girlfriend, as
most people o when they lose someone; they tend to care less about appearance
and become more stereotypically ’depressed’. Elleah does not have a set costume as
her clips are all in different places so she would dress different for each occasion –
the general image is however consistent of a teenage female.
5. Acoustic Guitar
Photograph of girlfriend
Carved Pumpkin
Pancake/ pan
Chef’s hat
Potentially more, depending on what options I
have for home video recordings.
6. The video does not follow any form of structured narrative or definitive plot but
of course does have meaning and context surrounding it. The idea is that the
performer (Tom) has just broken up with his girlfriend and is singing the song
alone to remember the happier times with her; this then brings in the home
video section as it is almost a flashback to his relationship. The home videos
only show the girlfriend, this has been done to isolate the two and represent
their separation; if they were together in the home video I feel the lyrics would
make this seem like more of a love song than a breakup. The performance will
be shot in black and white and will create a sombre mood to cement the idea
that he is in a depression because of the breakup, it will contrast with a lighter
image coming from the home video – this will either be with a sepia filter to
create a feeling of remembrance or just in normal colour to make it feel
natural.
7. Ed Sheeran ‘Photograph’ music video – The official music video
for this song does in fact centre around home video, much like my
own. I wanted to avoid using this for the reason that it looks too
much like I am copying this idea and not having any original
thoughts. However I liked the concept too much and decided to
adapt it in my own way. In his music video it is a collection of
videos from his childhood leading up to where he is now, showing
his rise to success. Mine is therefore different as it revolves
around the relationship – however it is obvious how heavily
influenced I was by this music video.
Ed Sheeran ‘One’ music video – This was my inspiration for the
performance section of the video, it is shot in black and white
and performed alone on a stage which is exactly the same as
mine. This, alongside the Photograph home video mentioned
before, essentially creates my music video by combining the
two. This did feel a bit like cheating at first but I came to the
conclusion that it was the most effective music video to create
and if I spent my time trying to be original I would waste too
much time.
