2. PROMOTION OF ARTIST/RECORD
LABEL
One way the musician would be helped by a music Is
it can identify them as a star by focusing on them in
the video. An example of the is seen in Zany's music
video for ‘pillow talk’. This video establish him as a
star after he left one direction. A music video might
increase the following of an artist by spreading to
the audiences that watch music videos this in theory
increases the record sales of the artist making them
more money, as well as how famous they are. As
well as the artist making money as will the record
label that they have signed with. This is why a record
label would be interested in funding the artist for
making one.

3. REPRESENTATION
A music video can create an image that the song
alone could might not do. The video can portray
people to look and act a certain and influencing fans
of the artist. One example of this is heavy metal
artist they have long hair tight trousers and dark
clothing. By creating this image fans of the band will
try to copy the artist look to fit into the stereotype.
This could help a record label as it could research
were the large majority of fans are and sell to music
stores in that area.

4. SYNERGY
Synergy is the term given to a brand or artist
when they spread their content over to other
platforms to gain a wider audience. Once an
artist becomes an idle then company's outside
the music business will pay to put their brand in
a music video. An example of this is Eminem, he
was asked by the people who made call of duty
to show game play in his music video for
survival. In return he was noticed as the music
for the game call of duty ghosts.

5. ALBUM SALES
A music video would help the sales of albums as it
can show people more about the artist than just the
song leading people to want to listen to more
content from the artist. albums are the best way to
get a collection of the artist instead of going
through all their songs, this should make people
want more albums. An example of this is dire
straight featured their song 'money for nothing' on
MTV album sales for 'love over gold' increased
alongside their next album 'Brothers In Arms'. in
this case the music video directly helped the band.

6. LAURA MULVEY’S MALE GAZE
THEORY
This is a theory that says that men are drawn
towards women's features such as a curvaceous
figure. an example of male gaze theory in practice in
a music video is the music video for Katy Perry's
song 'Californian gurls' the music video shows of
Katy Perry body in a sexuality way such as when she
is naked in the cotton candy clouds. The idea behind
using this in the music video is to appeal to a male
audience, if the audience it taken by it then they are
more likely to buy more merchandise and albums
from the artist because of their sex appeal
