10. Introduction
The Ministry of Education recognizes the importance of educational statistics in
policy-making, setting education goals and strategies in light of the state's general
policy and trends.MoE also realizes the significance of designing educational plans
and adopting educational decisions that outline the educational system in Jordan
and influence policies and decisions taken by all managing directorates. This also
includes provision of statistical inputs and educational indicators that are used for
the purposes of educational research to evaluate education course at all aspects
and levels. Moreover, educational statistics provide both international and local
communities including their public and private organizations with qualitative and
quantitative educational indicators along with statistical data that reflect the
characteristics of the educational system in the Kingdom (e.g. schools, students,
teachers, school buildings and school equipment).
In the light of this vision, the Ministry works hard to develop the Educational
Management Information System( EMIS ) which is known as an integrated
educational management information system that provides timely, accurate,
comprehensive and accessible data.
This system plays a major role in making, rationalizing and supporting educational
decisions and realizing the impact of implemented policies in achieving the
educational goals. In addition, the system helps in developing education and other
related services , pinpointing the problems that face the educational system and
then conducting analytical studies to solve them. EMIS system also assists the
investment of human, financial and fiscal resources upon which the Ministry's
needs are identified to solve such problems. On the other hand, EMIS system is
used to observe and monitor the development of the educational system over the
past ten years.
EMIS utilizes an On-Line Analytical Processing ( OLAP ) to conduct statistical
reports where statistical data is being updated and analyzed on-line. MoE checks
and reviews all indicators and statistics, besides external and internal monitoring
in order to measure the progress of these indicators to reflect achieving MoE
vision and mission. In addition to the alignment of such indicators with the
national strategy for education based on highly competitive knowledge economy.
MoE is delivering this statistical report ( 2012-2013 ) to all service recipients ,
scholars ,decision makers and students. This report includes figures, indicators,
geographical maps, diagrams, and comparisons so they can benefit from.It can
also be a useful database for different internal and external agencies, corporations
as well as regional and international organizations.
Finally, we would like to extend our great thanks to all who did their best to
prepare for this report. Hopefully, the report will achieve the desirable goals
through delivering accurate and comprehensive data for all stakeholders in
educational statistics in our beloved homeland under his Majesty King Abdullah II
bin Al-Hussein.
