Write a short script for the opening
scene for the film (approx 500words)

Create a storyboard of approximately 20
frames for a key sequence for the film
• Define Opening Scene and Key Sequence
   Show movement and shot size
   should list shot duration
   Can list edit types, dialogue, music
   Helps camera and director to visualise
   Watch the following clip from Superman 1978
    until 44 seconds in. Make notes about the
    shot sizes, camera movement and the type of
    edit

   Storyboard the first 5-10 shots on the sheets
    provided
   Scripts have formal rules that need following
   Scripts show some scene direction but not
    necessarily actors direction!
   Scripts show dialogue between characters
   Basic rules include
    ◦   Keep it simple
    ◦   Think in big pictures
    ◦   Make every line of dialogue count
    ◦   Show motivations and character type via dialogue
◦ Write a brief script for the following scene. think
      about:
      Who are these two people?
     Where are they?
     Why are they there?
     What’s their attitude?
   Two people are meeting for the first time
   Complete both tasks and bring in for John on
    Monday.
   Decide which area you want to work in
   Begin drafting either script or storyboard
    based on the film in your pitch
