look for Films
on Demand.
5. THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
● Use permalinks, rather than grabbing what’s
in the web address bar, to share the content
with students (more on that later…)
● Create a profile so that you can create
playlists
● Use the advanced search to narrow results
● Do not share FOD videos on open networks
- share them on Blackboard or email

You can search by:
1. Title/Keyword
2. Subject
Collections
3. Featured
producers
4. Advanced
Search
7. ADVANCED SEARCHING
1. Click on Advanced Search
2. Type in search terms
3. Filter results by:
● Topic
● Publication Date
● Closed-Captioning
and many other filters.

Use the browse
function to explore
by discipline/sub-
discipline(s)
The page link
gives a permalink
to share with
students.
9. SHARING A SEGMENT OF A VIDEO
Look for Segments
beside the video - all
videos are bookmarked in
Films on Demand
OR create your own by
clicking on Custom Segment
- you can choose the section
of the video to share.

Step 1:
Share a link by
grabbing the
permalink at
the bottom of
the video’s
online record.

Step 2:
Open your
Blackboard course
page, click on
‘Build Content’,
and then create an
‘Link’.

1. Insert Permalink
2. Add a title (i.e. ‘Documentary’)
3. Press Submit
13. CREATING A PLAYLIST
1. Search for a topic
2. When you click on a desired
video, click on the icon to
add the video to a playlist
3. In the dialog box
that pops up, create a
name for your playlist.
