7. Ă Generally during the months of March and April after a couple of rain
the land should be Prepared by 2 â 3 times deep ploughing .
Ă Following square or hexagonal system of planting the pits of 60cm
size are to be made at a distance of 1.8m â 2.0m.
Ă The pits are to be made 20 â 25 days before planting.

8. Seedling Am ount Of land
âIn 100 decimal land papaya planting of 3600
seedling.
âEvery pits seedling 3 plant.
âAfter flowering we remove the rest of 2 plant
every pits.
âSeedling to seedling distance would be 5 feet.

10. Removal of excess plant
⢠âOut of three planted seedling two should be removed
leaving only one plant per pit.
⢠â10% male plant should be kept sporadically in the field for
successful pollination.
⢠âThis operation is done at the time of flower initiation.

12. Irrigationand drainage
⢠âIrrigation should be given in the dry season and drainage
during rainy season.
⢠âCare should be taken so that the roots get enough

14. Fertilizer application
âDepending on the variety and fertility the following amount of
manures and fertilizers should be applied per plant.
Name of fertilizer Amount
Cow dung
MOC
TSP
MoP
Urea
20 â 25 kg
500 â 600g
250 â 400g
150 â 250g
250 â 300g

15. Fertilizer application on 1 acre Land
âDepending on the variety and fertility the following amount of manures
and fertilizers should be applied 1200 plant.
Name of fertilizer Amount (Kg) Price (Tk)
Cow dung 24000 6,200

16. Harvesting
âPapaya can be collected after 6 â 7 months of planting.
âIt takes 11 â 12 months after planting to get fruit matured.
âHarvesting index of papaya is ascertained from its latex. During this
time the latex become thin from thick and the color becomes lighter
green from deep green.
âHarvest yellow green.
âDark green fruits will not ripen.
âEach fruit should be harvested with a net so that fruit is not injured.

18. Yield
⢠âEach plant bear 25 â 75 fruits per plant.
⢠âAn yield of 37t â 75t fruits are produced in a ha of land.
⢠âAverage yield 6 â 10 tons/acre.
⢠âHowever, an yield 1200 plant are produced 8 ton fruits in 1
acre land.
⢠So,,8 tons /8000 kg papaya price in market= 8000Ă15
=120,000
