The document discusses the design and layout of children's recipe cards. It provides feedback on the fonts, images, layout, and readability used for the cards. The reviewer likes the quirky font used for tips, but notes the method text is difficult to read against the background color. They suggest using the ingredient color for the method instead. Overall, the cards are seen as suitable for children and meeting the brief of featuring vegetarian recipes.
1. How does the card appeal to its audience?
The fonts imply that it is a children’s recipe card. It looks quite bubbly and exciting looking
which is obviously good to catch children’s attention.
What is the best aspect of the fonts used?
I love the quirky looking font on the back pages with the little tip on what to do with the
food to spice it up a little. It is a really child friendly looking font, as if a child has actually
written it. It works.
What areas of font use could be improved?
Is the copy clear and easy to read?
The majority of it is clear and easy to read, but the method is quite a task. It is the same
colour as the background, as if it is like actual see through text. I would probably make the
method the same colours as what you made the ingredients, because in my eyes, the
method is the most important thing, and if you can’t see it then you are going to have a
problem making it.
Are there any errors?
What is the best aspect of the images used?
I like that you have used two images. A smaller one for the front and a gigantic one for the
back. This gives a close up affect, so if you’re looking at the ingredients and method, you
can refer back to the smaller picture. I would say the bigger picture is more advertisement
which I like.
What areas of the images could be improved?
Possibly find two different pictures for each recipe card, like you have done with the
burger and the macaroni cheese.
What is the best aspect of the layout used?
The swerved title font. I like that.
2. What areas of the layout could be improved?
Possibly make the large picture on the front, then the title on the front with it. Then put
the little tip on the other side somewhere near the picture like at the top where the title
would have gone.
Do the cards work as a set?
Yes they do. They are all vegetarian foods that will be eaten by children.
What changes could be made to improve the cards?
Change the colour of the method description so that people can read it easier.
Do you feel it meets the brief? If so why/why not?
Yes, it is all vegetarian foods; it is suitable for the audience. It has the vegetarian society
logo on it, so it is all good.
Do the cards make the recipe appealing?
Yes, the ingredients use very elegant words to describe what is happening. Sexy.
Do the cards look professional? If so why/why not?
Do you feel this work is better or worse than your own and why?
