MULTIPURPOSE ROBOT

 Industrial vehicle is evolved with an idea of
precisely controlling the entire processing
industry without any defects and leakages.
 This idea leads to a development of a mobile
vehicle called INDUSTRIAL VEHICLE in the
operating field and vehicle is normally placed in
the processing industry.
This Paper named "MULTI
PURPOSE ROBOT” is a robot which used for
different operations such as
 it is used to detect metals such as Bombs
 it is used to detect the temperature
 it is used to detect the leakage of gas
 it is used to detect the obstacles
 The path tracking vehicle finds a vital role in the
process industries
 While tracking the path it measures basic
parameters like temperature, gas leakage,
metal detection, obstacle detection.
 The path is given by the number of rotations
made by the wheel.
The robot consists of following major units.
 PC interfacing unit
 Microcontroller unit
 Wireless transmission unit
 Power supply unit
 Sensor unit
 The PC interfacing unit is used to interface the
computer and the microcontroller.
 The interfacing is done with RS 232 cable and
MAX 232 IC.
 The RS 232 cable is used to transmit the data
serially to the computer.
The function of the microcontroller is as
follows,
 To provide Multiplexing for the incoming sensor
signal
 To convert analog sensor values into digital
values
 To provide path for the vehicle.
 XBee and XBee – PRO modules were designed
to meet standards and support the unique
needs of wireless sensor networks to transmit
some of the parameters like temperature, gas,
metal detection and obstacles.
 The modules operate within the ISM 2.4 GHz
frequency band and pin-for-pin compatible with
each other.
The major blocks of the power supply units
are:
 Step down transformer
 Rectifier diodes
 Filter
 Voltage regulators
The sensor unit consists of following
detectors such as
 Metal detector
 Obstacle detector
 Gas detector
 Temperature detector
 The Metal detector is used to detect the metals
such as Bombs.
 Conducting materials like nickel, iron, cobalt
and their alloys are detected by the proximity
sensor.
 The obstacle detector is used to detect
obstacles.
 the Ultrasonic sensors are used to detect the
obstacles.
 The initial distance of one to ten feet set as a
predetermined distance to the controller and if
there is any obstacle.
 In many places is necessary to detect burned
gases (carbon monoxide) or gases (methane,
butane, hydrogen), which together with air form
a mixture that can explode.
 The sensor can detect a wide
range of gases, making it an
excellent, low cost sensor for a
wide variety of applications.
 The temperature Detector is used to
temperature. The temperature sensor used
here is LM35.
 As it draws only 60 μA from its supply, it has
very low self-heating, less than 0.1°C in still air.
 Humans secured by these technology.
 Production is more.
 Saving time & man power.
 Quality of a product is high.
 More expensive.
 Difficult to maintenance.
 Hidden cost of software & microprocessors.
 Thus multipurpose robot is the best substitute
for a trained operator who is responsible for
taking care of some abrupt and unexpected
changes in the process of industrial
environment.
 The wireless communication which makes a
instant transfer of message from site to the
control room alerting the control room operators
attend immediately.
