The first major battle that General Washington fought, the battle of Long Island, was a bloody one.
Washington and his men fought bravely but the British were too strong. Washington's men were
forced to retreat. Though out the summer there were many smaller battles fought. Towards the end
of the year, General Cornwallis of the British army chased Washington and his soldiers across New
Jersey. In the winter of 1776, German soldiers, paid by the British to fight, were chasing Washington
and his men. When they came to the Delaware River, Washington and his men took all the boats

Given the overwhelming British victories in New York and New Jersey in 1776, how was General
Washington able to avoid catastrophic defeat and eventually win the war?
Introduction
The overwhelming British victories in New York and New Jersey in 1776 were significant defeats
for the Continental Army and the American Cause and should have all but ended the war. However,
behind General Washington's resolve and strategic planning a victory near the end of 1776 changed
the state of the war eventually leading to American independence. Three key points played a
significant factor in Washington's and the Continental Army success: (1) Washington's ability to
orchestrate a retreat without British knowledge, (2) As morale was plummeting organizing an attack
on Trenton surprising the British, ending their offensive strategy, and (3) Taking the fight to the
British to firmly establish American presence in New Jersey. Washington orchestrated the reversal
of the American outlook in the Revolutionary War with limited supplies and untrained soldiers all
while boosting the American cause which speaks to his unnerving character and strategic mind.

Who Is To Blame For The American Revolution
In battling the British in the Revolutionary War, the American rebels did just as the great French
military and political leader, Napoleon Bonaparte advised, "Never interrupt your enemy when he is
making a mistake". Though there were a great deal of missed opportunities and misguided actions
taken by both sides of this war, none were as great as those by the ministers in London and British
Generals Howe and Burgoyne. However, of these three, one held a great deal of responsibility for
Britain's failure to suppress the American rebels by 1777. This person was indeed, General Howe.
General Howe is to blame for this failure because of all of the three listed, he was the most lethargic,
the most eager to surrender, and the one who failed to support his comrades. Some may claim that is

patrol to look out for enemies. The storm also helped to hide Washington's army, so the Hessians did

Major General Nathanael Greene and Major General John Sullivan were two men serving under

Beautiful mind was about a man John Nash who developed Schizophrenia over the life span of his
adult life. The movie started out about the time John Nash went to college. Nash was a mathematical
genius going to school at Princeton University. Nash struggled to contribute to serve as his legacy to
the world of mathematics. During John Nash college experience, he starts to show signs of
obsession about his project he is working on. Nash was awkward when it came to time to socialize
with his group of friend and women. Nash was very blunt and turned everything into a mathematical
equation. While at Princeton after being told his plan for his mathematical equation just was not
going to get him a spot. Nash went back to his dorm running his head into the glass. This is when
Charles Nash's roommate intervenes and tries to calm Nash down. Nash then again became
obsessive over his project but it ended up working to his advantage and ended up making a
mathematical breakthrough in history. Nash ended up graduation Princeton. He gets a job at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a teacher and research position. During His time as
a teacher and researcher he has went to the Pentagon and helped the military crack a code. This is
where he met "big brother." Big Brother offered Nash a job to break codes to help find the
placement of the lost bomb that the Russians are trying to hide. This is a dangerous job and Nash
was the perfect person for the job because he had no family

'The Patriot' is a heart–breaking movie that follows the journey of Benjamin Martin, a father of
seven children (Gabriel, Thomas, Margaret, Susan, Nathan, Samuel, and William) and an ex–
warrior who fought against the British army during the Revolutionary War, while carrying the
burden of a parent. It is filled with clash of ideals, where Benjamin's priority to save his children
from experiencing the bitter taste of war met with the reality that his country needed him to act.
The story began with Benjamin's return to his hometown. The members of the family were
introduced one by one. The situation between the Continental Army and the England government
was revealed to be getting more complicated each days, as the town's people were being forced to

Analysis Of Ketchum 's ' The Fall And Winter Of 1776 '
Ketchum begins in the fall and winter of 1776 in describing the events of the campaign. At the time,
the future of the Revolution was in serious doubt–––men were freezing, starving, and the
Continental Army was dissolving around General Washington. More than anything else, he needed a
victory. Ketchum displays to the reader how exactly the colonials got into such a distressing
situation in the first place. Traveling back to 1774 and 1775 Ketchum explores the reason behind
why and how the entire situation occurred in the first place. The motivations of both the English
crown and the colonials are explored throughout the book. For example, the motivations of King
George III are explored in the section "Everyone Who Does Not Agree With Me Is A Traitor".
Ketchum describes the early life of George III which would motivate his latest moves against the
colonies. George III felt he had to almost be "more English than the English themselves", to
paraphrase–––the honor of England and the crown were his preeminent concerns. Ketchum also
described the wide variety of ailments, mostly hereditary ones, which plagued the king. Put these
together and it's no surprise he was less than willing to listen to the pleas of his colonial subjects.
Ketchum also went into a good deal of detail as to the workings and motivations of the British
government at the time. Finally, he lists the events leading up to the actual winter of 1776, the
