Reflection on Who Moved My Cheese
Who Moved My Cheese?
This book, by Spencer Johnson, reveals the truths about how we deal with change that happens in our lives which effects us in so many ways, either
positively or negatively. The book takes an amusing approach to what happens when you don't adapt to change and what happens when you do. In
the book, cheese is used as a metaphor for what you want to have in life. All my life I wanted the nice house, the beautiful wife, the kids, money, the
dog, the nice tuck to pull the nice boat, the great career, and so on , and so on. To me, it's human nature to want those things and I eventually got all of
those things and then some..... More on that later. There was another metaphor in the book, which was the maze. The maze was... Show more content

And then move on to a better way of thinking and acting." And I like what Richard said, "I'm beginning to think there is more to this than I thought. I
like the idea of letting go of old behavior instead of letting go of the relationship. Repeating the same behavior will just get you the same results." I
have always thought that that is the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. If it isn't, it's pretty close. I
saw a little bit of me in all four characters. I had my own Cheese Station C at one time and boy was it nice. I was making an income of over six
digit's a year and had a wonderful family and many possessions that came to me very easily. I had it all and like most spoiled brats, became very
complacent, arrogant, and only thought of myself before anyone or anything else. I never took the time to take a step back and be thankful for
everything that I had been blessed with. I just wanted more and more. Once I got more, I still had a feeling of wanting more. My cheese kept
piling up and I didn't even think that it could all spoil or disappear someday. Not once did it enter my busy complicated little brain. Then one day, it
happened. It was all gone. I woke up one morning and my cheese was no longer there. Like Hem and Haw, I could not believe that this was happening
to me, which led me to denial just like them. I wasn't used to not having cheese and what scared me the most was that my family

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Thinking for oneself, is thinking against oneself
(Brave New World Compare/Contrast Essay) Aldous Huxley, one of the most gifted and influential literary figures of the mid
–twentieth century, wrote
the intriguing story Brave New World. The story focused on a perfect Utopia that existed in the future and a man from a different society that came in
with what they've believed to be distorted ideas which went against everything the Utopia stood for and would test the very ideas on which that world
represented. Their uniquely different ways of being brought up led the Savage character to have contrasting opinions to those grown inside of the
Utopia characters, Lenina and Bernard. By having these separate upbringings, their opinions and ideas are formed and created in ways that contrast
each other because they weren't grown to learn certain things as the other was and some of the main themes that caused conflicts throughout the
story was their contrasting beliefs towards "everyone belongs to everyone" and taking soma. Lenina is a Beta girl who was created and grown
inside of the Utopia, with the Ford ways everyone in their society had to go through. She went through hypnopedia, where a voice tells you multiple
things to believe and do, on a daily basis to behave the way society wanted her too. This told the people when and how to act all the time and built up
the main beliefs she held, one of them being the idea that "everyone belonged to everyone". Lenina felt that everyone

"I like" or "I don't like" do not display any ability to skillfully or flexibly express these functions.
For these questions, the first step is to find some alternative language for "liking". The following are some expressions can be used:
I'm fairly/pretty keen on....
I'm really into....
I'm quite a big fan of ...
I simply adore...
I'm quite enthusiastic about ...
I generally prefer ... (use only when comparing)
Most of the adverbs are interchangeable in this list.
Look at the following answer for the previous question: Do you like animals?
"Well to be quite honest, in general I would say that I'm actually quite keen on animals, but in particular I would probably have to say that I'm
really into domestic pets like dogs. I guess the reason why I'm a fan of dogs is because I adore their loyalty and companionship. In addition to dogs I
suppose I'm also pretty passionate about endangered species, especially dolphins and things like that and this is due to the fact that I feel some degree
of responsibility towards wildlife protection."
Possible starting phrase for " liking" questions:
Well in general I would say that...
Actually, I suppose that for the most part I'd probably say that ...
Well, to be honest I should really say that...
Of course I think

I Woke Up From My Nap
I woke up from my nap. From that nap I went to school and I was given a challenge. Something that sounds almost impossible, go twelve hours without
any electronics unless an emergency. As the assignment was given out. I thought to myself without my phone and tv, how would I go hours being
awoke with no electronics devices. So, I brainstormed that entire day.
I came up with a nice little list of things I could do to past time. It sounded like a really big task at hand, but I felt as if I could easily do it, if I out my
mind to it. So, Saturday I prepared myself for the assignment. I dry texted people the entire day, I didn 't text some people back, and I listened to
music the whole day. Got a goodnight rest because Sunday was going to be a big day. Right before I went to sleep I put my phone on airplane mode
and I put my phone in my footlocker/chest, closed my eyelids and went to sleep.
Instantly when I woke up I had forgot about the entire thing and I began to panic! I throw my covers off of my bed in pursuit to find my phone. After
about four or five minutes of looking for it. I gracefully walk up stairs and I approach my little brother's room and I ask him if he has my phone. He
tells me no I I began to say he was lying, until my mother yells you out it in your chest to do your school assignment. I said "oh yeah! That is right my
bad!"
Then I go downstairs and I pull out my binder and I began to do my homework for my engineer in art class. Since I had little to know

What were the total hours spent on the product?
A. Research
I spent a total of five hours on my research. During my hours I spent I have
learned so much. My research has helped me to realize the increase and decrease of the
men salaries. The research has helped me to understand what should I do to let the
younger teenagers know about the men salaries, and why they are rated so high. Some
people think since they are men, their salaries should be rated high. While doing my
research there are many different reasons why men are the top salary markers.

couldn't turn that in too early because I was told it would be best to show it at a later
time. So, I had to change it two to three times because I didn't know what to do I came
to make a survey and brochure.
Assess the success of your product.
My product was a big success. At first, I didn't have a camera to take my pictures,
which made me worry about getting my product finished, but God made a way to get my
Pictures taken. I had already had my product planned out, so the next thing to do was take
action. The pictures came out to be great photos, which were picture perfect. After
everything was complete, success had taken place.
What did the project teach you about yourself?
It taught me how to be a leader. As I went through each step of the senior project,
I learned that anything is possible long as you put mind to it. I also learned that I
cooperate well with others. Another thing that I am now prepared for any task needed to
be done. I learned that if you want to be successful, you have to work hard and never give

What would you do differently now that you are finished?
To be honest, I wouldn't change anything. I feel more confident because I came this far

The Career Choice Of Video Editing
I am a guy that likes a lot of different things and I could never just pick one thing that I liked the most. That is why it was extremely hard for me to
choose what I would like to be, I thought long and hard about what were my favorite thing to do "I felt like high school for me was like a big
whirlpool of me trying to figure out what was OK for me to do."(Donald Glover). I came across two things which were watching movies and listing
to music so I chose video editing to be my main career choice because video editing has to do with the film and audio"Why, if someone is good in
one field can they not be accepted or given the slightest opportunity to express and be creative in other fields?" (Kanye West), to me I feel like I
could put my creativity in to this carer and really enjoy what I am doing "Sometimes it 's the journey that teaches you a lot about your
destination."(Aubrey Drake Graham) . I usually like working with others so we can put our ideas together and create something that is unique and
has different flavors of ideas. I have always liked seeing what great things I could create with people who think like me and people who think
nothing like me. Ever since I was young I always wanted to be something useful in life like helping someone or saving someone. I had always
dreamed of becoming a neural surgeon or a fireman even paleontologist. Now that I have matured a bit more, I have now realized that I don 't want to
be any of those things. I also don 't want to be

The Peace Restaurant of the Haw-Some Hickory
At first glance, you wouldn't think much of this small–town, country–style restaurant, tucked up in the corner of a run–out plaza. Yet as you draw
nearer to this establishment, you seem to hear a quiet, but subtle sound of country music coming from inside. Upon entering you can't help but notice
the pictures of all the smiling faces that are along the walls. This is a place that welcomes families and the whole community. Promptly before you
have the chance to get too comfortable, you are greeted and then seated. Now, seated, you have the task of looking over the menu and all of its
possible choices. Without fail, our waitress comes over, introduces herself, and asks if we would like something to drink to start us off. Viewing the
possible choices, which include some Pepsi products, specialty sodas, and their famous strawberry lemonade. Carefully and cautiously, I pick their
strawberry lemonade as does my friend. Taking a second look at the menu, it's plain to see that it has some wonderful sounding food. As custom, I
tend to brag about places I have been before and things that I have eaten. On this such occasion, I talked up a big game about the Fried
Mac–N–Cheese. I told my friend Tyler that I was "AMAZING!" So I took the liberty and ordered that as an appetizer to share. At this point, our kind
waitress had left us with our drinks and appetizer orders. Now, having a moment to glance around at the place for a better look, I noticed the unique

I Is An Other By James Geary
When we think of metaphor, do we think good, bad, or do we just think it 's just a thing that we use and not put much thought into it? Well reading
this book called I is an Other by James Geary has really opened my eyes to really understand the concept of metaphor and what some of its purposes
are. I must say that before reading this book I had never thought of metaphor more than what I thought it was, but the way Geary talks about it
definitely made me think on how it does affect us and that we use it much more than we think. Geary touches on a lot of points that involve
metaphor without us even knowing it is there. For instance, Geary says that metaphor is not just restricted to literature and art, but it is also used
to reach people in ways like advertising, politics, and money (3). He talks about metaphor being part of our lives from the very early stages of life,
and how we use it to understand things better. Not only that, but he talks about how metaphor is used in both good and bad ways, and how we can
use it to express ourselves. He explains throughout the book that it is almost impossible not to use it, so it is something that is a part of us, and
without it we would be like robots. With all the evidence that has been provided I have came to the conclusion that metaphor is something we cannot
avoid, but that 's not a bad thing. Although it can sometimes be a bad thing, the way metaphor generally affects us is positive because it allows us to
understand complex

Food Is Cheap, At Least Compared With 4 Years Ago By Dan...
Summary The article that I did was "Food is Cheap, At Least compared with 4 years ago" by Dan Charles. This article is about how the global food
price index is going down, and has fallen to its lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like
grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now since a family will be spending less money on those
products. The only place where the prices are not falling is in the meat industry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for beef
was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That in turn caused the producers of the beef to have
expectations that the future was going to be bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because of
these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now
is that the food industry is having harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per acre. This has
caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork, poultry, and beef very happy. Their PPI has gone down, so they are
getting their things that they need to feed their animals cheaply. Then they are selling their animals at a very high rate, higher than normal

Lord Of The Flies By William Golding
Gone was a very action pact, exciting, and vigorous book. When I read Lord of the Flies I thought it was the best book ever, but that has changed.
Gone was such an intriguing book because something like this could never happen in real life. I love books that could never happen in this world.
When I was reading this book it felt like a dream. When I would go to sleep I was dreaming about the part I read, but the main character was me.
One day everyone fifteen and older disappears. Then there is this giant dome cover a whole entire city. There was no phone or cable service and all
the kids were in school. That is not the only weird thing about the book; some of the characters have power. Caine and Sam can shoot long beams out

I would need electronics because my younger brother would need something to do in the house. We would have an x–box so he could watch movies
and play video games. Can goods a very long lasting food that we would have in our house. Medicine and water are supplied to keep are body health.
The items that we have should supply us for at least two weeks. There are many reason I would want to go outside.
There may be kids out there who would have different beliefs about what has happened. They might take this time to take out all their animosity on
kids. They might use this period to show their preeminence. Other kids might accomplice with these kids because they think that they could protect
them or they might think that they are cool. Gone and our world our sort of the same because of many things. In Gone there were kids who wanted
to do the right things and other who wanted to do the wrong thing. Our world is analogous because there are those kids who would go into a grocery
store and take something without paying and others would leave the money on the counter. There are kids who would run around throwing rocks at
people, house, stores, and other things and then there are kids who would want to stop them, keep peace, and do the right thing. Michael Grant in this
book makes everyone 15 and older disappear. What could Michael Grant be saying when this happens, does this mean the parents not necessarily any

All over but the Shoutin
All Over but the Shoutin'
All Over but the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg is an autobiography that starts from Mr. Bragg's impoverished childhood in a family that included an abusive,
alcoholic father, an incredibly powerful angel of a mother and his two brothers, and follows him through his Pulitzer Prize–winning journalistic career
at the New York Times. The author states at the beginning of the book that readers will laugh and cry reading it. He was right on the money with both
of these points.
The Bragg family grew up with virtually nothing. The father left the family a number of times, offering no financial assistance and stealing whatever
he could before he left. When he was there, he was usually drunk and physically abusive to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I said before, I grew up in a middle class family. This made it difficult for me to completely understand everything that he was talking about in
the book. I never knew what it was like to have little or no food to eat. If we didn't have anything to eat our family would go to a restaurant and eat or
go shopping and get food.
Also, the work aspect is difficult to understand for me. I know what his mother did was what all people in her situation did then. The working
conditions that she dealt with day in and day out were horrific. And the thing was she never complained about it or quit. I know if I was in her
situation I would have never lasted. I would have quit and tried to find another job. Another option that middle class workers have is taking vacation
time if it gets to hot out or if it is raining. That is just the way we deal with situations like that. I believe our generation living in those conditions would
never have made it back then.
Communication is a very important aspect of any family. Good communication leads to a better family life. Bragg and his mother in particular
seemed to communicate very well. The way he details each of his childhood stories is very good and since most of the stories are told by the
motherly figure in your life you can see the communication is good. The communication between Bragg and his father is the complete opposite. It was
very hard

Narrative Essay : My Mom
For this narrative, I interviewed my mom, Amanda Lopez. At first, she seems mean. That's very blunt but it's true. My mom is a very guarded and
self–reserved person. She does have manners and she is nice but, she won't open up immediately to a new person. She is also very hard working and
independent. She wasn't born with these qualities, she went through a lot of different struggles, but that's how she ended up where she is today.
My mom didn't have a very good high school experience. Her mom always moved, which caused her to move. Which caused her to have few friends.
She never participated in sports or arts. She mostly focused on her home life and school. Her mom never really supported her. When asked about the
future, she state "I never thought about the future, it was more of a day by day, moment by moment kind of thing. How am I going to pay for this and
when will I get my homework done?" My mom had to buy her own clothes, pay the rent at her mom's house, and juggle school work. So, as you can
imagine, she had a lot on her plate. Although, she did have support from her aunt and uncle. But, she still had to do a lot of things on her own. "Aunt
Terri and I would go to her parent's house and hang out on the farm. We would do every day normal stuff like baking and knitting." Essentially, Aunt
Terri was the mom she never had, she taught her basic skills and gave her tips on different things. "They were the ones that came to my volleyball

When high school came around at Casciana started growing more into a woman she began to experience changes in her body, things that she didn't
understand. She would start to forget things, she would misplace things and could never find them again. It wasn't until she was 17 years old that her
whole life changed and it wasn't for the better. Casciana had become a completely new person, she stayed out all night, she partied, she stopped going

A Short Story : The Story Of Aiken's Story
At the beginning, Aiken comes up with mysterious it which is related to Paul, and it is not explained until the end of the story. Paul enjoys this
delicious experience that it gives him, and he is addicted by this feeling. Although he thinks it is strange and odd, he can't stop thinking about it.
According to :
JUST WHY it should have happened, or why it should have happened just when it did, he could not, of course, possibly have said; nor perhaps could
it even have occurred to him to ask. The thing was above all a secret, something to be preciously concealed from Mother and Father; and to that very
fact it owed an enormous part of its deliciousness. It was like a peculiarly beautiful trinket to be carried unmentioned in one's trouserpocket––a rare
stamp, an old coin, a few tiny gold links found trodden out of shape on the path in the park, a pebble of carnelian, a sea shell distinguishable from all
others by an unusual spot or stripe––and, as if it were anyone of these, he carried around with him everywhere a warm and persistent and increasingly
beautiful sense of possession. Nor was it only a sense of possession––it was also a sense of protection. It was as if, in some delightful way, his secret
gave him a fortress, a wall behind which he could retreat into heavenly seclusion. This was almost the first thing he had noticed about it––apart from
the oddness of the thing itself––and it was this that now again, for the fiftieth time, occurred to him, as he sat in the little

A Day At Home
It had been a fairly, nice day. Work wasn't to bad. My boss wasn't on my tail for not getting him a paper on time. It was supper time when I got
home. The food was already set out and the kids at the table when I walked in the door. Jane, 9 years old, had a book in her hand like normal. Billy,

at home mom for a little while. I set my bag down on our wooden table right beside the door. I walked over to the table said hi down and went to
finish helping my husband. When we were finished, I sat down to look all of my wonderful family in the eye and see that today was a good day.
When supper was over, we sent the kids to go brush their teeth like we do every time after dinner. I was helping my husband with the dishes after
dinner. When we were done, the kids were in bed and we had to go and tuck them in. We went and tucked Jane in. She was going to read a little
before she completely went to sleep. Jason, my Husband, left the room when he was done to use the restroom. I then went to Billy's room to tuck him

I said, "How was today?"

The Principle Two
2.Principle two – Overcoming FEAR
Our second principle for better self–empowerment is the overcoming of fear in general. Fear is a part of our lives. It appears when we are uncertain
or faced with something new. It is natural to feel this way, but it can become a problem when it rules our every decision. If for instance, thefear of
failing a job interview keeps you indoors and miserable, then there's a serious problem here. So, what is fear? Well, fear can be described as an
uncomfortable emotion caused by the strong impression that a person or an object is harmful, capable of causing pain, or a poses threat. In other
words, the fear of something or somebody is something that can easily threaten your wellbeing.
It's one thing to be scared of something new, or scared because you feel you're being threatened, but it is a problem if you use fear to make excuses
for your failures in life. For instance, you have people saying "huh, I don't want to go and work overseas because I'm scared of people who don't
speak the same language as me". And people like that almost never get out of the country. They spend their holidays here in the states as well as their
honeymoon and would rather let their fear dictate their conduct. One may think that this type of fear may be justified with all the insecurity happening
all over the world and that we shouldn't blame people who think like that. But, when you think about it, making excuses for things that are simple, like
refusing to take a

Cold Water, directed by Noriko Ogami is a documentary from 1986 about cross–cultural adaptation and culture shock. It is about diving into a new
culture and having it feel, as one foreign student puts it, like a "plunge into cold water." Twelve Boston University foreign students express their
perceptions of their experiences in the U.S. as each of them (plus one American student and three specialists) is interviewed about living and studying in

and languages of new environments. Soon the navigation becomes easier along with the friends and communities of support are being established.
Finally the last stage is referred as the "acceptance stage," according to one foreign student. After some weeks or months we are noticing improvement
within ourselves after have wrestling with the emotional stages. The final stage of cultural shock doesn't mean that the new cultures and environments
are completely understood, it signifies realization that complete understanding isn't necessary to function and thrive in new surroundings. During this
stage, travelers have the familiarity and are able to draw together the resources they need to feel at ease.
The same students which laid out for us the stages of cultural shock also shared their experiences expressing how they felt about Americans. Tina
Lang, one of the foreign students at Boston University referred Americans as "superficial." As direct and straight forward as that description was I
like to agree with her. As Americans we are so focused on looking our best on the outside that we never put aside any time to work on our

The, And The Iliad Essay
1."We are the proper inheritors of these great thinkers, but we tend to approach life with just our own resources and whatever insights we can pick up
from the people around us" (Morris ix).
So many of my classmates through the years had complained about having to read excerpts from old stories. They didn't understand why they had to
read pieces of Beowulf, or the Iliad. Only a handful of us enjoyed what we read and could comprehend the cryptic writings. Those who were willing
to read and maybe reread the text were able to retain more information so they would be better equip for some other circumstances. Not only did they
pass the unit test, they also brought that knowledge to other classes with them. It doesn't matter if the lessons from people in the past are entertaining or
boring. One never knows when they will need knowledge from someone in the past.
2."One of the strongest forces in human life is the power of self–deception" (Morris 13).
How can we trust others if we can't even trust ourselves? When a person wants to know what they want to move toward as a goal, they have to look
inside. To gain a clear picture of appropriate goals, a person mustn't lie to themselves. Self– deception is an illusion that is hard to look past. The
possibilities are endless for the situations in which illusions take place. An example of such an illusion is a family with financial issues that is blind to
the fact that they need to stop spending so much. How do we break the illusion of

Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De Ziga
Simply put, Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De Ziga is a great piece of art. The colours used in the piece were very well used. The meaning was very
easy for me to find in the piece. I had also learned a very important life lesson from the piece. Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De Ziga captures how
fleeting a child's innocence can be through its powerful colours and imagery.
The thing that was most prominent in this piece was the range of colours used. Firstly, almost all the colours highly contrast with each other. The
first thing that immediately popped out to me was the little boy in the picture. His outfit was a bright red while the rest of the piece was muted
earth tones. It makes the boy the focal point and helped me find what I feel is the meaning of the peace. Secondly, the muted earth tones work very
well with piece. No colours stand out in particular, which I think was the goal with this piece. The piece is comprised of mossy, almost sickly
looking greens and dark chocolate brown, giving off the vibe that maybe the painting was really old, even went it was first revealed. Thirdly, all
the colours in the picture feel very cold and distant. The red is almost too bright, and isn't a warm, easy on the eyes type of red. The greens, grays
and browns feel cold and damp, and bring no comfort into the piece. The colour of the child skin himself is very pale, the whole painting not with a
hint of warmth or comfort in any part of the piece. The colours of Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De

Comic–Con has given us a lot of good stuff this year. Surprisingly, it didn 't really give us anything from the Star Wars Universe in terms of
live–action movie stuff. We expected another trailer for Rogue One, but that never actually happened. Either way, we got some great stuff from DC,
Marvel, and the other companies that also happen to make films. Also, there were comics there. But SDCC doesn 't really care about comics and more,
do they? Hell no. In anycase, here are the best movies trailers to come out of SDCC in no particular order:

Critique Of The Great Divorce
Critique of The Great Divorce The Great Divorce is a wonderful work of literature written by C.S. Lewis about a mans trip on a bus to heaven and
an understanding of eternity written form a first person perspective. It starts out with this man getting on a bus with several other people on it; to his
surprise the bus begins to fly. After a while in flight the bus begins to descend, and the trees that were once figures far below him begin to get closer
and closer until finally he lands on a completely different plant than Earth. One of the first things that he realizes when he, and the others, step off the
bus is that the people who he road there with, who were once full figured, regular looking people, had now become ghost; "man–stains on the
brightness of that air," as he puts. One of the first things that he notices is that the grass and the flowers do not brake when he steps on them they just
wave through him. He bends down to attempt to break a blade of grass with the result only ending up in total failure after putting all his strength into
it. As they were standing there, all of a sudden spirits (solid people) came out of the distance and ran up to them. Some of the people that accompanied
them ran back on the bus while other, including him, stayed. For the next few chapters it is basically him eavesdropping on conversations between the
ghost, and the spirits. The first conversation is between two people that clearly knew each other on earth. The spirit had been a

John Mayer Failures
John Mayer is an American singer and songwriter from Fairfield, Connecticut.
His first release was Inside Wants Out– EP. The album was independently recorded in
America and released in 1999. In 2001, he released his first full–length album, Room for
Squares. He started out by writing Acoustic Rock but eventually shifted towards the
Blues. Every song recorded and performed by John Mayer has sophisticated lyrics and countless metaphors.
John Mayer was born on October 16, 1977 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Growing up, he was the middle sibling to two brothers in their house. Mayer
had two big inspirations to introduce him to the world of music and public performance. The first was Michael J. Fox's guitar performance as Marty

Massachusetts and after two semesters he dropped out to pursue his passion and to go and preform with Clay Cook in Atlanta, Georgia. The band
eventually broke up because of
"creative differences" and John became a solo artist. John Mayer's first full–length album without Cook was Room for Squares, which achieved a
Multi–Platinum level.
Two years later he produced Heavier Things, another Multi–Platinum level album. John

Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom
When a person thinks of someone going to college they probably imagine them walking across a large campus or sitting in a lecture hall among other
students. While this is the way many people do choose to attend college, there are also those who have chosen to get their degree in an online setting.
Online learning gives people the opportunity to get their education in a way that is more flexible and can fit in with their daily lives. Though both are
reputable forms of higher educations, there are distinct differences between learning in a tradition classroom and learning in an online setting.
The most obvious difference in online learning versus traditional classroom learning is the setting. Traditionally, students would gather in a classroom
where they would take notes, listen to lectures, turn in work, and take exams. Online learning, on the other hand, can take place in multiple locations
at various times. Online college programs, like Bethels, give more flexibility to students because there are no set times for lectures. Videos of lectures
and other important information relating to the class can be viewed at any time and they can also be viewed as often as needed. Because these lectures
are constantly available, student can view the videos and reading material multiple times in order to get a better understanding of the class. Books are
also commonly available within the online classroom, giving students even more access (Bethel University, 2014). Online learning is a

Most humans resist the idea of stepping directly into the things that frighten them. Of course, there are some things that warrant fear and deserve
avoidance action (crime, fire, hurricanes, etc). But those are things we don 't tend to encounter regularly in our daily lives (hopefully).
Fear, none–the–less, is often present and yet not always warranted. If you are reaching beyond your comfort zone, you 'll likely feel afraid. That does
NOT mean, you shouldn 't reach. You should always reach.
Here are some specific strategies you can use to take that fear and turn it into freedom, financial freedom or personal freedom.
1. Do the scariest thing on your to–do list the first thing in the morning
This will free you up immediately. Even if you don 't get the result you wanted, just the fact that you confronted your fear and took action will build
your confidence and allow you to tackle other things on your list that will now feel easy and breezy.
2. Ask your inner guidance what the fear is trying

Physics By Aristotle Summary
Physics by Aristotle
Aristotle begins by describing the meaning of the words "nature" and "natural." He identifies the meaning of each, and also explains some common
phrases which include each of the words.
He says all natural things have a principle of motion and of stationariness. He also says that natural things are composed of stone, earth, or a mixture of
the two. According to him, artificial products do not possess the source of their own production. For example, the nature of a bed is of wood. He says
that if the bed was planted and began to rot, a shoot may grow from that. Aristotle says that a bed would not be growing, but wood (in the form of a
tree), which is the nature of the bed. Another idea of "nature" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aristotle continues to describe how some people believe that the entire universe was created in a moment of spontaneity. He begins to define what
occurrences are due to chance and those that are due to spontaneity. He says that chance cannot be the cause of things that come to be due to necessity.
He concludes that chance and intelligent reflection are similar. He ends with the statement that things that come to pass by chance or spontaneity are
not caused by necessary or normal reasons, but they do come to pass for the sake of something. Aristotle begins part six by describing the relationship
between spontaneity and chance. He tells us that things that result from chance are from spontaneity, but those from spontaneity are not always due to
chance. He explains the three characteristics of things that come to pass due to spontaneity. These occurrences are for the sake of something, do not
occur for the end result, and are caused by some external force. He tells us that intelligence and nature both come before chance and spontaneity.
Aristotle then explains that there are four causes, and describes which ones account for matter and which ones account for motion. He also explains
how Nature belongs in the class of cause that works for the sake of something. He speaks of

Persuasive Speech
Being told I would be expected to talk here, I inquired what sort of talk I ought to make.
They said it should be something suitable to youth––something didactic, instructive, or something in the nature of good advice. Very well. I have a few
things in my mind which I have often longed to say for the instruction of the young; for it is in one's tender early years that such things will best take
root and be most enduring and most valuable.

First, then. I will say to you my young friends––and I say it beseechingly, urgingly––
Always obey your parents, when they are present. This is the best policy in the long run, because if you don't, they will make you. Most parents think
they know better than you do, and you can generally make more by humoring that superstition than you can by acting on your own better judgment.
Be respectful to your superiors, if you have any, also to strangers, and sometimes to others. If a person offend you, and you are in doubt as to whether
it was intentional or not, do not resort to extreme measures; simply watch your chance and hit him with a brick. That will be sufficient. If you shall
find that he had not intended any offense, come out frankly and confess yourself in the wrong when you struck him; acknowledge it like a man and say
you didn't mean to.
Yes, always avoid violence; in this age of charity and kindliness, the time has gone by for such things. Leave dynamite to the low and unrefined.
Go to bed early, get up early––this

Where have the Children Gone?
Darkness descended, the fog drifted through the dark streets and a chilling wind whistles pass the sleeping homes; the street of old houses looked
dull and unwelcoming, an eerie presence had settled in. The old woman walked leisurely to the top of the street, she held her cane firmly in her
old dark and aged hand, she hit the ground twice. The hollow sound echoed around like a tremor. She then used it to take her weight. Her bulged
eyes scanned the darkness as the fog crept in, it was then she saw a black mass forming into the figure of a man, they walked closer. The tall figure,
he was dressed in an old black suit, his old pale featureless face appeared from the darkness, he stood motionless. She acknowledged his presence
as he knelt on his cane and she saw the golden handle, she looked up and he took off his hat and acknowledged her in a deep yet strong voice.
"Welcome," "I heard your calling, the children are waiting," Said the woman, "Time has come; paths shall now cross as they come to seek the truth.
However, he shall also rise," "There is talk around town; but no one has worked out what's happening," "They will, Whittle has already begun piecing
the clues together; everything shall become clear as the innocent returns. The diary is hidden, if he finds it the children shall progress," Said the man "I
understand, my duty is the children," she hesitates looking down then up, "What about me?" asked the Woman nervously, yet she knew the answer, but
she had to know.

Growing Up In a Small Town
Living and growing up in a small town is better than doing so in a big city.
Everyone knows your name; there is a sense of community spirit and just going to visit your neighbor can be rewarding. On the flip side, city life
breeds a more dangerous lifestyle and leaves no chance for getting to know your fellow townsfolk.
Small town life was especially meaningful to me and I remember it fondly.
Things were much simpler back then, because we lived in less complicated times. We did not have video games or computers to occupy our time. We
had more natural ways to engage ourselves such as going down to the local watering hole to swim or fish. Living in a farming community gave us an
abundance of old barns filled with cobwebs to explore. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She would just smile and act like she didn't know it, and then gave us our reward anyway. Another time I remember a parent looking out for us was
when my brother nearly drowned in the local river. He was always tagging along with my friends and me even though he was still too young at six
to do most of the things that we did. When we would go swimming at the river I trusted him to stay safe in the shallows while we older kids braved
the deeper spots. It all happened so quickly that later I marveled at how close we came to losing him. Mr. Ramsey just happened to be on the river
that day fishing down the way from us. Well, he had caught himself a forty–five pound little brother by the time we figured out what was going on. He
hauled my brother over the side of his boat gasping and crying in fear. I felt really bad that day because I had not being paying enough attention to him.
I felt very grateful though that once again a combined parent in the community was watching us.
All of these memories have been brought home to me more often now that I am raising children of my own. Unfortunately, we were not been able to
give them that benefit of small town life at first. We lived for most of their childhood in the big city of Sacramento, California. We were afraid to let
them go play in our own yard, much less run around the neighborhood with other kids. All of the houses seemed to be stacked up against each other.
The buildings surrounding our neighborhood were

Holden Claufied a Misfit in Society
Is Holden Claufield a misfit in societyI do think that Holden Claufield is a misfit in society. It doesn't seem like that is society fault that he is, its just
the type of person that he is. He describes everyone around him as them being a phony as he likes to describe it.
The way Holden cant fit into the society around has drove him to hate it, instead of him coming to realize this he just judges other people on the
fakeness and dishonesty. Holden even thinks that his own school is hypocritical because they don't really follow there own motto which is "molds

It is pretty clear that Holden was badly hurt by the loss and disappointed by the grief that overcame him. He found himself talking out loud to Allie
in attempts to find comfort, he did it a lot when he was suicidal. Between Holden 's hypercritical views on others and his effort to push himself out
of reality, he became lonesome and hoped for companionship. Insecurity controlled Holden 's mind, he began believing that others wouldn't accept
him for who he was and felt he had to keep up appearances by lying to others. But all of this stopped him from getting what he wanted most which
was approval and to be understood. Holden Caulfied has cynical, sceptical, and even unsociable views of the world around him. He resents the power
society had over people, how it can easily change an innocent child into someone snobbish. He despises how a person 's will is not strong enough to
stand against society 's power. However, he is just as fault as everyone else. In the end, Holden has not yet noticed his hypocrisy because he still refuses
to admit that this is how the cycle of life is and that one cannot question it, but only embrace

Practical Tips For Positive Thinking Essay
Practical Tips For Positive Thinking – Positivity Can Be Learned –
By Jinjee Talifero

Why Positivity Can Be Learned
Wouldn 't it be nice to always – or mostly – have positive thoughts?
We have to live inside our heads a large part of our waking life. Granted, when we are working, playing, exercising, or socializing in any way––
relating to family, friends, co–workers, etc...we are taken outside of ourselves, out of our heads, and our own mind–chatter is less present. And these
activities are a great way to reduce our mind–chatter when we are feeling negative, and they can lead to a total turn–around too.
But when we are on our own we mostly live inside out heads. And often the inner life in there is not all pleasant. We spend a lot of time in anger,
anxiety, strife, worry, fear, negativity, arguments, sadness, brooding, drama, etc...
Instead, we could be planning, dreaming, thinking creative thoughts, having realizations, insights, and breakthroughs, having thoughts of gratitude,
enjoyment, fun. We could be experiencing the moment in awe, wonder, enthusiasm, excitement, and feeling waves of passion, ecstasy, and bliss. Yes,
these are all valid ways of being, these are all attainable inner states.
Beautifying Your Inner Landscape
How do we attain such beautiful inner landscapes? Like outer landscapes, they can be cultivated. Some landscapes are born beautiful. Others need a
little cultivation.

Waiting On The World To Change John Mayer Analysis
Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer: Music Speaks
In 2006, John Mayer released the song "Waiting on the World to Change," off of his album Continuum. Mayer went on to receive a Grammy Award
for best male pop vocal performance for this song in 2007. The music video for this song was directed by Philip Andelman. There are two main scenes
in the music video, the first is John Mayer casually strolling along the East River in New York City and the other is where commissioned graffiti
artists, Futura 2000, Tats Cru, and Daze graffiti messages that correlate to the lyrics of the song (Macleod 1). In the music video for "Waiting on the

Although it was written in 2006, this song could also apply to society today. We are currently living in a digital world. Music and social media sites
such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the main platform for the current generation. Many people use social media sites to express their
thoughts and opinions about certain issues. And artists use music and their lyrics to get their point across to their intended audience. Because of our
"lack of power," music and social media allow us to voice our opinions about current issues.
A current issue that hits close to home is the recent announcement of HC&S shutting down the sugar plantation on Maui; the last plantation in
Hawaii. Over the past two years or so, I have read posts on Facebook about people's opinions on the effects of burning sugar cane, how people feel
about it, and "protests" on why they should keep the plantation running. I must admit, I was amongst many who merely posted about how I felt about
the issue. This issue corresponds to the song in the way that many of us were waiting on other people to speak up and actively do something to either

Fighting for Freedom of Education and Human Rights in...
If we are thinking about effect of education – or the lack of it – on our nature, there is another comparison we can make."(The Allegory of the Cave by
Plato p.1) Plato was a philosopher in Classical Greece; he was fighting for freedom and education. Malcolm X was an African–American Muslim who
was fighting for human rights. We have two stories one is "The Allegory of the Cave" and "Learning to read", why do we have to compare this two
stories? Can we conclude some very important things after reviewing? Education is a very strong tool in our hands, and how to learn right is
concurrent part of our life. In this stories we can find two different ways how to study, even though stories have some same ideas, they are different. I
have several reasons why they are different and how are they similar. The first thing why these stories are similar is that Education can totally change
your view to everything. Education it's a light in darkness, it can open our eyes. In the "The Allegory of the Cave by Plato" we have some good
examples. First example is cave, cave showing us the world, and many people in this world tie in, only one thing that they can see is the wall, and
in the front of the wall we can see a campfire, they can't turn back, and every time we can see shadows on the wall. People kind of blind, they can't
move, they get used to live in this cave and watching only one picture of the shadows. In the "Learning to Read by Malcolm X" we can

Racial Discrimination And Its Effects On Society Essay
Racial Discrimination, Can Ruin People's Life
Racism always does harm to the people more or less .Most of the people become grumpy and aggressive after they went through the racism violent.
The only thing in their minds is fighting for their future. The incorrect and radical thoughts lead them go to a wrong way–doing inappropriate things in
their life which can't change the society.
Racism is a kind of discrimination which based on different ethnics or colors. It is existing all over the world. It has existed from ancient times to
now. It was started by governments for dividing different classes to show how noble the rulers were. As we all thought, it was an awful policy in
ancient times. As society develops, people have some wars and they won them in many countries. However, horrible racism lasts still now, ruins some
people' life seriously.
The groups of people who are treated in bad, unfair and violent ways must bear mock and violent which will make bad effects on their heart. They get
the unfair treatments due to the ridiculous reasons–– ethnic and color. The hurt will last for their whole lifetimes and will affect their decision in their
future. Most of the times, their affected decision will make their life worse.

Country Music and Eric Church
Country music is a genre that some might absolutely love and some might absolutely hate. It is a style of music that developed in the southern and
western U.S. and often contains lyrics relating to the lives of people who live in the country. While there are a lot of different types of country music,
a very popular country artist of this time is Eric Church. Church brings a bit of a twist to country music, with really telling us how he feels. Talking
about one of his songs in particular, "homeboy" about a lost young man needing to "come on home, boy." Eric Church is a good ole' country boy
from Granite Falls, North Carolina. At thirteen is when Church started writing songs and playing guitar. His passion for music grew later in life and
he moved to Nashville, where he was signed with Sony Tree Records. His last album Chief won Album of the Year from both the CMA and ACM in
the last awards cycle, as it probably should have compared to its competition. Eric Church will never win the popularity contests like "Entertainer" or
"Male Vocalist" categories because he has made more enemies than friends in the industry and beyond. But his music's unpredictability is the magic
quotient that can't be denied, and continues to win him loyal fans. Church's song "Homeboy" takes the form of a pep talk by a satisfied rural farmer to
a prodigal son wandering astray through urban culture. Church thinks that he'd be better off drinking a beer, baling hay, and hanging out with his high

Saving the Family's Name in Desiree’s Baby by Kate Chopin
The short story "Desiree's Baby: by Kate Chopin is my favorite story so far in what we read in class. Why? Well because Chopin Shows how far a
man will go just to save his family's name and reputation. This interested me because I couldn't believe a man would go that far keep his
reputation and how Chopin address real life issues and shows how one emotion can be your down fall at the same time.. The man in Desiree's
baby who took his words and actions to far is named Armand Aubigny . Chopin made Armand make his decision based on assumptions, racism,
anger and male dominance. Chopin Shows that back then race was everything. It meant so much that people would consider you subhuman or
worthless if u had any in your blood line, it also ruined relationships and caused the feeling of disgrace. Armand took this serious he was the typical
stereotype. Armand was the master of the L'Abri plantation; he was a strict master who treated the slaves cruel. So much that, the narrator says,
"The negroes had forgotten how to be gay." So you can imagine the thought of him finding out his child was of color. When he found out all hell broke
loose. He wanted no parts of Desiree or the baby after finding out. He even said it was Desiree's fault because she has some Negro blood in her.
Desiree's reaction was priceless instead of fighting for her baby and herself; she just felt disgrace and couldn't believe she would have some Negro

Reflection On Who Moved My Cheese

  • 1. Reflection on Who Moved My Cheese Who Moved My Cheese? This book, by Spencer Johnson, reveals the truths about how we deal with change that happens in our lives which effects us in so many ways, either positively or negatively. The book takes an amusing approach to what happens when you don't adapt to change and what happens when you do. In the book, cheese is used as a metaphor for what you want to have in life. All my life I wanted the nice house, the beautiful wife, the kids, money, the dog, the nice tuck to pull the nice boat, the great career, and so on , and so on. To me, it's human nature to want those things and I eventually got all of those things and then some..... More on that later. There was another metaphor in the book, which was the maze. The maze was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And then move on to a better way of thinking and acting." And I like what Richard said, "I'm beginning to think there is more to this than I thought. I like the idea of letting go of old behavior instead of letting go of the relationship. Repeating the same behavior will just get you the same results." I have always thought that that is the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. If it isn't, it's pretty close. I saw a little bit of me in all four characters. I had my own Cheese Station C at one time and boy was it nice. I was making an income of over six digit's a year and had a wonderful family and many possessions that came to me very easily. I had it all and like most spoiled brats, became very complacent, arrogant, and only thought of myself before anyone or anything else. I never took the time to take a step back and be thankful for everything that I had been blessed with. I just wanted more and more. Once I got more, I still had a feeling of wanting more. My cheese kept piling up and I didn't even think that it could all spoil or disappear someday. Not once did it enter my busy complicated little brain. Then one day, it happened. It was all gone. I woke up one morning and my cheese was no longer there. Like Hem and Haw, I could not believe that this was happening to me, which led me to denial just like them. I wasn't used to not having cheese and what scared me the most was that my family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley Thinking for oneself, is thinking against oneself (Brave New World Compare/Contrast Essay) Aldous Huxley, one of the most gifted and influential literary figures of the mid –twentieth century, wrote the intriguing story Brave New World. The story focused on a perfect Utopia that existed in the future and a man from a different society that came in with what they've believed to be distorted ideas which went against everything the Utopia stood for and would test the very ideas on which that world represented. Their uniquely different ways of being brought up led the Savage character to have contrasting opinions to those grown inside of the Utopia characters, Lenina and Bernard. By having these separate upbringings, their opinions and ideas are formed and created in ways that contrast each other because they weren't grown to learn certain things as the other was and some of the main themes that caused conflicts throughout the story was their contrasting beliefs towards "everyone belongs to everyone" and taking soma. Lenina is a Beta girl who was created and grown inside of the Utopia, with the Ford ways everyone in their society had to go through. She went through hypnopedia, where a voice tells you multiple things to believe and do, on a daily basis to behave the way society wanted her too. This told the people when and how to act all the time and built up the main beliefs she held, one of them being the idea that "everyone belonged to everyone". Lenina felt that everyone ... For these questions, the first step is to find some alternative language for "liking". The following are some expressions can be used: I'm fairly/pretty keen on.... I'm really into.... I'm quite a big fan of ... I simply adore... I'm quite enthusiastic about ... I generally prefer ... (use only when comparing) Most of the adverbs are interchangeable in this list. Look at the following answer for the previous question: Do you like animals? "Well to be quite honest, in general I would say that I'm actually quite keen on animals, but in particular I would probably have to say that I'm really into domestic pets like dogs. I guess the reason why I'm a fan of dogs is because I adore their loyalty and companionship. In addition to dogs I suppose I'm also pretty passionate about endangered species, especially dolphins and things like that and this is due to the fact that I feel some degree of responsibility towards wildlife protection." Possible starting phrase for " liking" questions: Well in general I would say that... Actually, I suppose that for the most part I'd probably say that ... Well, to be honest I should really say that...

  • 5. I Woke Up From My Nap I woke up from my nap. From that nap I went to school and I was given a challenge. Something that sounds almost impossible, go twelve hours without any electronics unless an emergency. As the assignment was given out. I thought to myself without my phone and tv, how would I go hours being awoke with no electronics devices. So, I brainstormed that entire day. I came up with a nice little list of things I could do to past time. It sounded like a really big task at hand, but I felt as if I could easily do it, if I out my mind to it. So, Saturday I prepared myself for the assignment. I dry texted people the entire day, I didn 't text some people back, and I listened to music the whole day. Got a goodnight rest because Sunday was going to be a big day. Right before I went to sleep I put my phone on airplane mode and I put my phone in my footlocker/chest, closed my eyelids and went to sleep. Instantly when I woke up I had forgot about the entire thing and I began to panic! I throw my covers off of my bed in pursuit to find my phone. After about four or five minutes of looking for it. I gracefully walk up stairs and I approach my little brother's room and I ask him if he has my phone. He tells me no I I began to say he was lying, until my mother yells you out it in your chest to do your school assignment. I said "oh yeah! That is right my bad!" Then I go downstairs and I pull out my binder and I began to do my homework for my engineer in art class. Since I had little to know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. What "Community" Supplies by Robert J. Sampson Senior Project Reflection Yolanda Elders Mrs. Watson English IV 3 April 2009 Reflection What were the total hours spent on the product? A. Research I spent a total of five hours on my research. During my hours I spent I have learned so much. My research has helped me to realize the increase and decrease of the men salaries. The research has helped me to understand what should I do to let the younger teenagers know about the men salaries, and why they are rated so high. Some people think since they are men, their salaries should be rated high. While doing my research there are many different reasons why men are the top salary markers.

I couldn't turn that in too early because I was told it would be best to show it at a later time. So, I had to change it two to three times because I didn't know what to do I came to make a survey and brochure. Assess the success of your product. My product was a big success. At first, I didn't have a camera to take my pictures, which made me worry about getting my product finished, but God made a way to get my Pictures taken. I had already had my product planned out, so the next thing to do was take action. The pictures came out to be great photos, which were picture perfect. After everything was complete, success had taken place. What did the project teach you about yourself? It taught me how to be a leader. As I went through each step of the senior project, I learned that anything is possible long as you put mind to it. I also learned that I cooperate well with others. Another thing that I am now prepared for any task needed to be done. I learned that if you want to be successful, you have to work hard and never give

  • 9. The Career Choice Of Video Editing I am a guy that likes a lot of different things and I could never just pick one thing that I liked the most. That is why it was extremely hard for me to choose what I would like to be, I thought long and hard about what were my favorite thing to do "I felt like high school for me was like a big whirlpool of me trying to figure out what was OK for me to do."(Donald Glover). I came across two things which were watching movies and listing to music so I chose video editing to be my main career choice because video editing has to do with the film and audio"Why, if someone is good in one field can they not be accepted or given the slightest opportunity to express and be creative in other fields?" (Kanye West), to me I feel like I could put my creativity in to this carer and really enjoy what I am doing "Sometimes it 's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination."(Aubrey Drake Graham) . I usually like working with others so we can put our ideas together and create something that is unique and has different flavors of ideas. I have always liked seeing what great things I could create with people who think like me and people who think nothing like me. Ever since I was young I always wanted to be something useful in life like helping someone or saving someone. I had always dreamed of becoming a neural surgeon or a fireman even paleontologist. Now that I have matured a bit more, I have now realized that I don 't want to be any of those things. I also don 't want to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Peace Restaurant of the Haw-Some Hickory At first glance, you wouldn't think much of this small–town, country–style restaurant, tucked up in the corner of a run–out plaza. Yet as you draw nearer to this establishment, you seem to hear a quiet, but subtle sound of country music coming from inside. Upon entering you can't help but notice the pictures of all the smiling faces that are along the walls. This is a place that welcomes families and the whole community. Promptly before you have the chance to get too comfortable, you are greeted and then seated. Now, seated, you have the task of looking over the menu and all of its possible choices. Without fail, our waitress comes over, introduces herself, and asks if we would like something to drink to start us off. Viewing the possible choices, which include some Pepsi products, specialty sodas, and their famous strawberry lemonade. Carefully and cautiously, I pick their strawberry lemonade as does my friend. Taking a second look at the menu, it's plain to see that it has some wonderful sounding food. As custom, I tend to brag about places I have been before and things that I have eaten. On this such occasion, I talked up a big game about the Fried Mac–N–Cheese. I told my friend Tyler that I was "AMAZING!" So I took the liberty and ordered that as an appetizer to share. At this point, our kind waitress had left us with our drinks and appetizer orders. • 11. I Is An Other By James Geary When we think of metaphor, do we think good, bad, or do we just think it 's just a thing that we use and not put much thought into it? Well reading this book called I is an Other by James Geary has really opened my eyes to really understand the concept of metaphor and what some of its purposes are. I must say that before reading this book I had never thought of metaphor more than what I thought it was, but the way Geary talks about it definitely made me think on how it does affect us and that we use it much more than we think. Geary touches on a lot of points that involve metaphor without us even knowing it is there. For instance, Geary says that metaphor is not just restricted to literature and art, but it is also used to reach people in ways like advertising, politics, and money (3). He talks about metaphor being part of our lives from the very early stages of life, and how we use it to understand things better. Not only that, but he talks about how metaphor is used in both good and bad ways, and how we can use it to express ourselves. He explains throughout the book that it is almost impossible not to use it, so it is something that is a part of us, and without it we would be like robots. With all the evidence that has been provided I have came to the conclusion that metaphor is something we cannot avoid, but that 's not a bad thing. Although it can sometimes be a bad thing, the way metaphor generally affects us is positive because it allows us to understand complex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Food Is Cheap, At Least Compared With 4 Years Ago By Dan... Summary The article that I did was "Food is Cheap, At Least compared with 4 years ago" by Dan Charles. This article is about how the global food price index is going down, and has fallen to its lowest level in the last four years. It is saying that a lot of different foods are getting cheaper like grains, vegetable oils, sugar, and dairy products. So that means that CPI should decrease now since a family will be spending less money on those products. The only place where the prices are not falling is in the meat industry especially in the beef industry. That is because the supply for beef was decreased after a drought made the suppliers want to decrease the size of the herd. That in turn caused the producers of the beef to have expectations that the future was going to be bleak for them. So they decided to not spend as much in their planned investments. Now because of these past decisions; when the market rebounded it the supply was down. Another plus in the market that is currently happening in the U.S. right now is that the food industry is having harvests of corn and soybean that will break the records in the overall production and yield per acre. This has caused the grain prices to fall by almost half. This makes the producers of pork, poultry, and beef very happy. Their PPI has gone down, so they are getting their things that they need to feed their animals cheaply. Then they are selling their animals at a very high rate, higher than normal ... All over but the Shoutin All Over but the Shoutin' All Over but the Shoutin' by Rick Bragg is an autobiography that starts from Mr. Bragg's impoverished childhood in a family that included an abusive, alcoholic father, an incredibly powerful angel of a mother and his two brothers, and follows him through his Pulitzer Prize–winning journalistic career at the New York Times. The author states at the beginning of the book that readers will laugh and cry reading it. He was right on the money with both of these points. The Bragg family grew up with virtually nothing. The father left the family a number of times, offering no financial assistance and stealing whatever he could before he left. When he was there, he was usually drunk and physically abusive to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I said before, I grew up in a middle class family. This made it difficult for me to completely understand everything that he was talking about in the book. I never knew what it was like to have little or no food to eat. If we didn't have anything to eat our family would go to a restaurant and eat or go shopping and get food. Also, the work aspect is difficult to understand for me. I know what his mother did was what all people in her situation did then. The working conditions that she dealt with day in and day out were horrific. And the thing was she never complained about it or quit. I know if I was in her situation I would have never lasted. I would have quit and tried to find another job. Another option that middle class workers have is taking vacation time if it gets to hot out or if it is raining. That is just the way we deal with situations like that. I believe our generation living in those conditions would never have made it back then. Communication is a very important aspect of any family. Good communication leads to a better family life. Bragg and his mother in particular seemed to communicate very well. • 15. Narrative Essay : My Mom For this narrative, I interviewed my mom, Amanda Lopez. At first, she seems mean. That's very blunt but it's true. My mom is a very guarded and self–reserved person. She does have manners and she is nice but, she won't open up immediately to a new person. She is also very hard working and independent. When asked about the future, she state "I never thought about the future, it was more of a day by day, moment by moment kind of thing. How am I going to pay for this and when will I get my homework done?" My mom had to buy her own clothes, pay the rent at her mom's house, and juggle school work. So, as you can imagine, she had a lot on her plate. Although, she did have support from her aunt and uncle. But, she still had to do a lot of things on her own. "Aunt Terri and I would go to her parent's house and hang out on the farm. We would do every day normal stuff like baking and knitting." Essentially, Aunt Terri was the mom she never had, she taught her basic skills and gave her tips on different things. Paul enjoys this delicious experience that it gives him, and he is addicted by this feeling. Although he thinks it is strange and odd, he can't stop thinking about it. According to : JUST WHY it should have happened, or why it should have happened just when it did, he could not, of course, possibly have said; nor perhaps could it even have occurred to him to ask. The thing was above all a secret, something to be preciously concealed from Mother and Father; and to that very fact it owed an enormous part of its deliciousness. It was like a peculiarly beautiful trinket to be carried unmentioned in one's trouserpocket––a rare stamp, an old coin, a few tiny gold links found trodden out of shape on the path in the park, a pebble of carnelian, a sea shell distinguishable from all others by an unusual spot or stripe––and, as if it were anyone of these, he carried around with him everywhere a warm and persistent and increasingly beautiful sense of possession. Nor was it only a sense of possession––it was also a sense of protection. It was as if, in some delightful way, his secret gave him a fortress, a wall behind which he could retreat into heavenly seclusion. This was almost the first thing he had noticed about it––apart from the oddness of the thing itself––and it was this that now again, for the fiftieth time, occurred to him, as he sat in the little ... • 20. The Principle Two 2.Principle two – Overcoming FEAR Our second principle for better self–empowerment is the overcoming of fear in general. Fear is a part of our lives. It appears when we are uncertain or faced with something new. It is natural to feel this way, but it can become a problem when it rules our every decision. If for instance, thefear of failing a job interview keeps you indoors and miserable, then there's a serious problem here. So, what is fear? Well, fear can be described as an uncomfortable emotion caused by the strong impression that a person or an object is harmful, capable of causing pain, or a poses threat. In other words, the fear of something or somebody is something that can easily threaten your wellbeing. It's one thing to be scared of something new, or scared because you feel you're being threatened, but it is a problem if you use fear to make excuses for your failures in life. For instance, you have people saying "huh, I don't want to go and work overseas because I'm scared of people who don't speak the same language as me". And people like that almost never get out of the country. They spend their holidays here in the states as well as their honeymoon and would rather let their fear dictate their conduct. One may think that this type of fear may be justified with all the insecurity happening all over the world and that we shouldn't blame people who think like that. But, when you think about it, making excuses for things that are simple, like refusing to take a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is about diving into a new culture and having it feel, as one foreign student puts it, like a "plunge into cold water." Twelve Boston University foreign students express their perceptions of their experiences in the U.S. as each of them (plus one American student and three specialists) is interviewed about living and studying in a new culture. Initial focus is on the arrival and immediate post–arrival period and the culture shock which, for most of the interviewees, follows on its heels. The, And The Iliad Essay 1."We are the proper inheritors of these great thinkers, but we tend to approach life with just our own resources and whatever insights we can pick up from the people around us" (Morris ix). So many of my classmates through the years had complained about having to read excerpts from old stories. They didn't understand why they had to read pieces of Beowulf, or the Iliad. Only a handful of us enjoyed what we read and could comprehend the cryptic writings. Those who were willing to read and maybe reread the text were able to retain more information so they would be better equip for some other circumstances. Not only did they pass the unit test, they also brought that knowledge to other classes with them. It doesn't matter if the lessons from people in the past are entertaining or boring. One never knows when they will need knowledge from someone in the past. 2."One of the strongest forces in human life is the power of self–deception" (Morris 13). How can we trust others if we can't even trust ourselves? When a person wants to know what they want to move toward as a goal, they have to look inside. To gain a clear picture of appropriate goals, a person mustn't lie to themselves. Self– deception is an illusion that is hard to look past. The possibilities are endless for the situations in which illusions take place. The meaning was very easy for me to find in the piece. I had also learned a very important life lesson from the piece. Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De Ziga captures how fleeting a child's innocence can be through its powerful colours and imagery. The thing that was most prominent in this piece was the range of colours used. Firstly, almost all the colours highly contrast with each other. The first thing that immediately popped out to me was the little boy in the picture. His outfit was a bright red while the rest of the piece was muted earth tones. It makes the boy the focal point and helped me find what I feel is the meaning of the peace. Secondly, the muted earth tones work very well with piece. No colours stand out in particular, which I think was the goal with this piece. The piece is comprised of mossy, almost sickly looking greens and dark chocolate brown, giving off the vibe that maybe the painting was really old, even went it was first revealed. Thirdly, all the colours in the picture feel very cold and distant. The red is almost too bright, and isn't a warm, easy on the eyes type of red. The greens, grays and browns feel cold and damp, and bring no comfort into the piece. The colour of the child skin himself is very pale, the whole painting not with a hint of warmth or comfort in any part of the piece. The colours of Don Manuel Osorio Manrique De ... Lewis about a mans trip on a bus to heaven and an understanding of eternity written form a first person perspective. It starts out with this man getting on a bus with several other people on it; to his surprise the bus begins to fly. After a while in flight the bus begins to descend, and the trees that were once figures far below him begin to get closer and closer until finally he lands on a completely different plant than Earth. One of the first things that he realizes when he, and the others, step off the bus is that the people who he road there with, who were once full figured, regular looking people, had now become ghost; "man–stains on the brightness of that air," as he puts. One of the first things that he notices is that the grass and the flowers do not brake when he steps on them they just wave through him. He bends down to attempt to break a blade of grass with the result only ending up in total failure after putting all his strength into it. As they were standing there, all of a sudden spirits (solid people) came out of the distance and ran up to them. Some of the people that accompanied them ran back on the bus while other, including him, stayed. For the next few chapters it is basically him eavesdropping on conversations between the ghost, and the spirits. The first conversation is between two people that clearly knew each other on earth. • 31. Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom When a person thinks of someone going to college they probably imagine them walking across a large campus or sitting in a lecture hall among other students. While this is the way many people do choose to attend college, there are also those who have chosen to get their degree in an online setting. Online learning gives people the opportunity to get their education in a way that is more flexible and can fit in with their daily lives. Though both are reputable forms of higher educations, there are distinct differences between learning in a tradition classroom and learning in an online setting. The most obvious difference in online learning versus traditional classroom learning is the setting. Traditionally, students would gather in a classroom where they would take notes, listen to lectures, turn in work, and take exams. Online learning, on the other hand, can take place in multiple locations at various times. Online college programs, like Bethels, give more flexibility to students because there are no set times for lectures. Videos of lectures and other important information relating to the class can be viewed at any time and they can also be viewed as often as needed. Because these lectures are constantly available, student can view the videos and reading material multiple times in order to get a better understanding of the class. Books are also commonly available within the online classroom, giving students even more access (Bethel University, 2014). Online learning is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Physics By Aristotle Summary Physics by Aristotle Aristotle begins by describing the meaning of the words "nature" and "natural." He identifies the meaning of each, and also explains some common phrases which include each of the words. He says all natural things have a principle of motion and of stationariness. He also says that natural things are composed of stone, earth, or a mixture of the two. According to him, artificial products do not possess the source of their own production. For example, the nature of a bed is of wood. He says that if the bed was planted and began to rot, a shoot may grow from that. Aristotle says that a bed would not be growing, but wood (in the form of a tree), which is the nature of the bed. Another idea of "nature" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aristotle continues to describe how some people believe that the entire universe was created in a moment of spontaneity. He begins to define what occurrences are due to chance and those that are due to spontaneity. He says that chance cannot be the cause of things that come to be due to necessity. He concludes that chance and intelligent reflection are similar. He ends with the statement that things that come to pass by chance or spontaneity are not caused by necessary or normal reasons, but they do come to pass for the sake of something. Aristotle begins part six by describing the relationship between spontaneity and chance. He tells us that things that result from chance are from spontaneity, but those from spontaneity are not always due to chance. He explains the three characteristics of things that come to pass due to spontaneity. These occurrences are for the sake of something, do not occur for the end result, and are caused by some external force. He tells us that intelligence and nature both come before chance and spontaneity. Aristotle then explains that there are four causes, and describes which ones account for matter and which ones account for motion. I will say to you my young friends––and I say it beseechingly, urgingly–– Always obey your parents, when they are present. This is the best policy in the long run, because if you don't, they will make you. Most parents think they know better than you do, and you can generally make more by humoring that superstition than you can by acting on your own better judgment. Be respectful to your superiors, if you have any, also to strangers, and sometimes to others. If a person offend you, and you are in doubt as to whether it was intentional or not, do not resort to extreme measures; simply watch your chance and hit him with a brick. That will be sufficient. If you shall find that he had not intended any offense, come out frankly and confess yourself in the wrong when you struck him; acknowledge it like a man and say you didn't mean to. It all happened so quickly that later I marveled at how close we came to losing him. Mr. Ramsey just happened to be on the river that day fishing down the way from us. Well, he had caught himself a forty–five pound little brother by the time we figured out what was going on. He hauled my brother over the side of his boat gasping and crying in fear. I felt really bad that day because I had not being paying enough attention to him. I felt very grateful though that once again a combined parent in the community was watching us. All of these memories have been brought home to me more often now that I am raising children of my own. Unfortunately, we were not been able to give them that benefit of small town life at first. We lived for most of their childhood in the big city of Sacramento, California. We were afraid to let them go play in our own yard, much less run around the neighborhood with other kids. All of the houses seemed to be stacked up against each other. The buildings surrounding our neighborhood were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Holden Claufied a Misfit in Society Is Holden Claufield a misfit in societyI do think that Holden Claufield is a misfit in society. It doesn't seem like that is society fault that he is, its just the type of person that he is. He describes everyone around him as them being a phony as he likes to describe it. The way Holden cant fit into the society around has drove him to hate it, instead of him coming to realize this he just judges other people on the fakeness and dishonesty. Holden even thinks that his own school is hypocritical because they don't really follow there own motto which is "molds boys into upright, respected members of society", in his eyes the guys in his school don't change from when they get there it even molds some into crooks and criminals. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is pretty clear that Holden was badly hurt by the loss and disappointed by the grief that overcame him. He found himself talking out loud to Allie in attempts to find comfort, he did it a lot when he was suicidal. Between Holden 's hypercritical views on others and his effort to push himself out of reality, he became lonesome and hoped for companionship. Insecurity controlled Holden 's mind, he began believing that others wouldn't accept him for who he was and felt he had to keep up appearances by lying to others. But all of this stopped him from getting what he wanted most which was approval and to be understood. Holden Caulfied has cynical, sceptical, and even unsociable views of the world around him. He resents the power society had over people, how it can easily change an innocent child into someone snobbish. He despises how a person 's will is not strong enough to stand against society 's power. However, he is just as fault as everyone else. In the end, Holden has not yet noticed his hypocrisy because he still refuses to admit that this is how the cycle of life is and that one cannot question it, but only embrace ... • 38. Practical Tips For Positive Thinking Essay Practical Tips For Positive Thinking – Positivity Can Be Learned – By Jinjee Talifero Aug 4, 2011 Why Positivity Can Be Learned Wouldn 't it be nice to always – or mostly – have positive thoughts? We have to live inside our heads a large part of our waking life. Granted, when we are working, playing, exercising, or socializing in any way–– relating to family, friends, co–workers, etc...we are taken outside of ourselves, out of our heads, and our own mind–chatter is less present. And these activities are a great way to reduce our mind–chatter when we are feeling negative, and they can lead to a total turn–around too. But when we are on our own we mostly live inside out heads. And often the inner life in there is not all pleasant. We spend a lot of time in anger, anxiety, strife, worry, fear, negativity, arguments, sadness, brooding, drama, etc... Instead, we could be planning, dreaming, thinking creative thoughts, having realizations, insights, and breakthroughs, having thoughts of gratitude, enjoyment, fun. We could be experiencing the moment in awe, wonder, enthusiasm, excitement, and feeling waves of passion, ecstasy, and bliss. Yes, these are all valid ways of being, these are all attainable inner states. Beautifying Your Inner Landscape How do we attain such beautiful inner landscapes? Like outer landscapes, they can be cultivated. Some landscapes are born beautiful. Others need a little cultivation. How Do We Cultivate a Positive Inner Terrain How do we

Although it was written in 2006, this song could also apply to society today. We are currently living in a digital world. Music and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the main platform for the current generation. Many people use social media sites to express their thoughts and opinions about certain issues. And artists use music and their lyrics to get their point across to their intended audience. Because of our "lack of power," music and social media allow us to voice our opinions about current issues. A current issue that hits close to home is the recent announcement of HC&S shutting down the sugar plantation on Maui; the last plantation in Hawaii. Over the past two years or so, I have read posts on Facebook about people's opinions on the effects of burning sugar cane, how people feel about it, and "protests" on why they should keep the plantation running. I must admit, I was amongst many who merely posted about how I felt about the issue. This issue corresponds to the song in the way that many of us were waiting on other people to speak up and actively do something to either support or prevent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Fighting for Freedom of Education and Human Rights in... If we are thinking about effect of education – or the lack of it – on our nature, there is another comparison we can make."(The Allegory of the Cave by Plato p.1) Plato was a philosopher in Classical Greece; he was fighting for freedom and education. Malcolm X was an African–American Muslim who was fighting for human rights. We have two stories one is "The Allegory of the Cave" and "Learning to read", why do we have to compare this two stories? Can we conclude some very important things after reviewing? Education is a very strong tool in our hands, and how to learn right is concurrent part of our life. In this stories we can find two different ways how to study, even though stories have some same ideas, they are different. I have several reasons why they are different and how are they similar. The first thing why these stories are similar is that Education can totally change your view to everything. Education it's a light in darkness, it can open our eyes. In the "The Allegory of the Cave by Plato" we have some good examples. First example is cave, cave showing us the world, and many people in this world tie in, only one thing that they can see is the wall, and in the front of the wall we can see a campfire, they can't turn back, and every time we can see shadows on the wall. People kind of blind, they can't move, they get used to live in this cave and watching only one picture of the shadows. In the "Learning to Read by Malcolm X" we can ... • 43. Country Music and Eric Church Country music is a genre that some might absolutely love and some might absolutely hate. It is a style of music that developed in the southern and western U.S. and often contains lyrics relating to the lives of people who live in the country. While there are a lot of different types of country music, a very popular country artist of this time is Eric Church. Church brings a bit of a twist to country music, with really telling us how he feels. Talking about one of his songs in particular, "homeboy" about a lost young man needing to "come on home, boy." Eric Church is a good ole' country boy from Granite Falls, North Carolina. At thirteen is when Church started writing songs and playing guitar. His passion for music grew later in life and he moved to Nashville, where he was signed with Sony Tree Records. His last album Chief won Album of the Year from both the CMA and ACM in the last awards cycle, as it probably should have compared to its competition. Eric Church will never win the popularity contests like "Entertainer" or "Male Vocalist" categories because he has made more enemies than friends in the industry and beyond. But his music's unpredictability is the magic quotient that can't be denied, and continues to win him loyal fans. Church's song "Homeboy" takes the form of a pep talk by a satisfied rural farmer to a prodigal son wandering astray through urban culture. Church thinks that he'd be better off drinking a beer, baling hay, and hanging out with his high school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Saving the Family's Name in Desiree’s Baby by Kate Chopin The short story "Desiree's Baby: by Kate Chopin is my favorite story so far in what we read in class. Why? Well because Chopin Shows how far a man will go just to save his family's name and reputation. This interested me because I couldn't believe a man would go that far keep his reputation and how Chopin address real life issues and shows how one emotion can be your down fall at the same time.. The man in Desiree's baby who took his words and actions to far is named Armand Aubigny . Chopin made Armand make his decision based on assumptions, racism, anger and male dominance. Chopin Shows that back then race was everything. It meant so much that people would consider you subhuman or worthless if u had any in your blood line, it also ruined relationships and caused the feeling of disgrace. Armand took this serious he was the typical stereotype. Armand was the master of the L'Abri plantation; he was a strict master who treated the slaves cruel. So much that, the narrator says, "The negroes had forgotten how to be gay." So you can imagine the thought of him finding out his child was of color. When he found out all hell broke loose. He wanted no parts of Desiree or the baby after finding out. He even said it was Desiree's fault because she has some Negro blood in her. Desiree's reaction was priceless instead of fighting for her baby and herself; she just felt disgrace and couldn't believe she would have some Negro blood in her. She even says it's a lie, gives her whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
