Astronomers don't spend all of their nights staring at a few favorite stars, or searching for nova or
navel–gazing. Sometimes we're treated to something more obvious; something anyone can do
without any training or study: meteor showers. This August, the < a href=

August 12th and 13th, so unless you're in the middle of monsoon season, why not make the time to
enjoy it?
This year the Perseid meteor shower is slated to be the best of its kind in five years. Why? Two
things. Firstly, there will be no Lunar interference, as it will be absent from the night sky, and the
Earth will have made an unusually close pass through the stream of space debris leftover from
Comet 109/P Swift–Tuttle, the cause of the shower. This highly anticipated close pass means that

The Perseids are thusly named because they occur within the constellation Perseus, in the northern
part of the horizon. The constellation rises above the horizon just before 10 P.M., and will reach its
highest point a few minutes before dawn. This means the best hours to view the show will be
between midnight and morning twilight.
You may not need to know where Perseus the radiant is in the sky, since he will obviously be
radiating enough beauty on his own to attract even the first–time skywatcher, but if you'd like to
find him ahead of time, you could look for the easily identified W of Cassiopeia. Perseus will rise to

origins should guide your eyes to Perseus' approximate position.

Define and describe system It is very important to ensure that pilots of aircraft are kept safe in
aircraft. The loss of human life in an aircraft crash is tragic. This is particularly true for military
applications, where many hundreds of hours and many millions of dollars have been spent on
training. There is also the very real risk of crippling damage to the aircraft from enemy attacks. In
the beginning, pilots abandoned their aircraft by simply opening a hatch and jumping out.
Obviously, this is a dangerous situation, and as aircraft became faster, this method became more and

unfavorable forces in out of control aircraft. Hence, it is very desirable to have some sort of system

distance and allow the user to safely descend to the ground. However, ejection seats are part of a
larger system referred to as the "egress system". This is the total system which allows the pilot to
escape and it includes components such as ejection control systems, emergency life support, and

The Jet Engine has been around for more than eighty five years, and is seen in many crucial
functions of our day to day lives. Yet few people realize the truly immense effect it has played in
advancing technology, supporting our prosperous lives, and opening up the entire globe to
commerce, exploration, and travel.
The birth of the jet engine dates backs to the early 1930's, before that the propellor driven aeroplane
was the only means for traveling in the air, and engineers in that time were beginning to realize that
planes driven by propellers were beginning to go obsolete because they were self–limiting, due to
the fact that as the speed of the plane drew closer and closer to the speed of sound, the efficiency of
the blades dropped off, which led to low top speed. This dilemma motivated inventors around the

The solution to the problem several scientists saw, was the idea of a jet powered aircraft.
The key to creating a functional jet engine was the gas turbine, which could be used to extract

Reduction of Waste Generally, I operate on a relatively eco–friendly plane. I eat vegetarian, as I
have from birth, and have been shifting towards zero waste as my New Year's resolution for 2017. I

mindset but more a financial one), and have eliminated non–recyclable items from most of my life.
As a student, I constantly find myself slipping up here, which is why I still don't consider myself

at seven am, when my phone, which has been plugged in and charging for the past eight plus hours,
blares me awake with my alarm. I usually try and stay in bed as late as possible, because they still
haven't turned the heat on in my apartment and I find it dreadful to crawl out of my loft bed into the
freezing cold. Once I am finally up, I will turn off the lamp underneath my bed, which I leave on all
night, and switch on the lights for my room. From there, I will choose my clothes, and then brush
my teeth and essentially get ready for the day. If I have extra time, I love to bring lunch to school, so

activity and the college social life. If they chose a college close to their hometown they will have to
decide whether they want to live on–campus or off– campus. To help make their decision, the
graduate must look at the pros and cons of both living situations. The determination of living on–
compass to off–campus may vary determined based on cost, convenience, and privacy.
Living on– campus vs living off–campus may differ in cost. Depending if the student is eligible for
government assistance or scholarships may make a difference. If the student lives on campus, there
is no negotiating for price. The price of the dorm usually includes utilities and campus security.
Most campus offer a meal plan for the school cafeteria which is usually service 3 meals a day, 7
days a week which is easy and convenient. Because the residents do not have access to kitchens,

I Woke Up With Ryan

Problems With College Bathrooms
College dorms are always a great experience for your first year of college because we get to meet
new people. There is just one problem the bathrooms they could be changed. There should be no
CO–ED bathroom, install more showers, give each room their own bathroom, or put locks on the
shower. This is a problem for me because I am not used to someone I don't know coming in the
bathroom while I'm in the shower. I feel uncomfortable knowing that someone else is in there. There
should be a change in residence hall bathrooms that make students feel more comfortable and safe
while being in the bathroom.
As a college student, I feel as if in each dorm room should consist of a bathroom with a shower,
sink, and toilet. Each dorm should have their own bathroom because it would be more sanitary than
sharing a bathroom with 10 or more people every day. Schools should extend dorm rooms by taking
out the public bathrooms that way they can expand the rooms to fit the bathrooms. It would also be
more convenient to students because they wouldn't have to rush to be the first one in the shower in
the morning it would be right there in the room. You also won't have to worry about dirty showers or
hair stuck in the drains. To get this put into place students could start a petition for this to happen
and if we have enough hopefully the school will take it into consideration. This would be the best

The Horror Of All Vacations
I, as a second grade girl,had never smelled anything so foul or seen anything so gross. I could smell
something decaying through the crisp summer breeze in Wisconsin. While going through the cabin,
I found the most disgusting items and problems around the little cabin.Seeing the horrifying sight of
blood splattered against the white bathroom walls. Cockroaches were scurrying around the wooden

Airport Descriptive Essay
Leaving the yellow–shaded Spirit plane, I had finally arrived at Florida. When exiting the airplane, a
cool breeze like a tornado hitting your face was present right away, the airport also looking quite a
bit like the Minneapolis Airport from where I had taken off from. After leaving the airport overall,
the exit had an area of which contained a welcoming bouquet of many different types of flowers,
some of which were pink, red, yellow, and blue. Me and my family planned to take a taxi to the the
resort that we had setup, having said that we all entered the white and a wide taxi car with a man at
the driver seat wearing what I presumed to be a buttoned dress shirt and khakis to–boot. Throughout
the whole car ride, there was a ever humid feeling to the air like a furnace to your face, with the car
window showing noticeable palm trees also in the surrounding area passing by like little flies. The
taxi car we were in was organized with a grey floor mats and seats that had been arranged like a
typical van itself, also smelling of a type of car fragrance throughout the interior of the taxi car. The
long drive from the airport had proven to be worth it, being welcomed by the resort entrance having
a left and right lanes of palm trees and various lights decorated all over the lush green foliage,
shining as brightly as if the lights were the sun. Within plain sight, there had been a sign above
welcoming you to the resort itself, Westgate Resorts. The sign had shade of brown and

Not exactly sure what drug the Captain had given her, Ava crossed the room and stood in front of
the sink. She was barely coherent, swooping up a soft, velvety handful of water and staring at the
blue and violet crystal droplets. She splashed them against her hot face, amazed and unblinking and
thoughtful about how round the droplets were. Mesmerized as they formed into bubbles – growing,

Psycho
When asked what they remember from the original Psycho, most people would say that the shower
scene was the part of the film that they remembered most. In this essay I will be analysing this
famous scene but from the remake directed by Gus Van Sant.
The remake of the film, created in the nineteen ninety's, has many differences from the sixties
version. This is advantageous to the production. Examples of this are the use of colour and modern
camera techniques that can be used to create tension, fear, anxiety, and psychological horror. A

This uneasiness is also caused by the fact that Marian is in her dressing gown and in her bedroom.
This makes the audience feel intrusive and involved, they are also aware of the vulnerability of
Marian at this point in the film.
The audience watch her tare up the paper which is used to write her repayment sums on, which, to
the audience is seen as evidence of her crime and if it was found she would be caught. This
representation of her crime is presented to the audience as it illustrates evidence of her crime which
again implements the audience in her criminal activities because they have witnessed the crime and
the evidence. This makes the audience feel almost guilty but also anxious to be so involved with
Marian and the emotions are magnified as the audience empathise with her.
Marian Crane gets up out of her chair as she destroys the evidence but instead of moving to another
shot Van Sant uses the same camera to pan across the room and follow her. The camera shows a shot
that encroaches on Marian as it is very close to her all of the time. It is intended to make the viewer
feel very uncomfortable as they see the whole thing through the eyes
