1. TPACK Development Reflection
I will start of my reflection by going back to
module 5 where we first produced our personal
TPACK knowledge diagrams….
2. I feel that I know the most in the area
of technology. I am exposed to
technology in all of my university
courses. I am able to learn new
technologies quickly and I believe I will
be able to incorporate it into my
lessons easily.
Technology
Intersections!
Technology/Content – I have some ideas on how I
would be able to use technology in my lessons, but
I am not completely sure if they would be effective
in teaching the students the concepts.
Technology/Pedagogy – This is the intersection
that I will have the most trouble with. My
knowledge in pedagogy is lacking to the point that
it will effect my ability to use technology
appropriately.
Content/ Pedagogy - Again I have some ideas on
how I would like to teach the material and
concepts that I know about, but I do not feel
competent in my ideas until my knowledge in
pedagogy gets expanded.
Content
I feel that I do know something in
regards to the content I hope to be
teaching, but there is definitely some
aspects that I still have left to learn. I
have a fairly extensive English
background, but have not focused my
studies around material present in
secondary level English teachings.
Pedagogy
I feel I know the least in regards to
pedagogy. I have only just begun my
learning as a teacher and I have a lot left
to learn in regards to my philosophy of
teaching.
3. Previous TPACK diagram summary
• In my previous TPACK diagram my technology
section was the largest compared to content
and pedagogy.
• I felt due to my age I do have a basic
understanding of technology and how it
works, but I was unsure of how to use it
appropriately in the classroom.
4. New Learnings
• Now that this EDU 210 class is almost complete I am
able to look back on all the new programs I have been
introduced to throughout the semester!
• I feel much more confident now in using technology
appropriately in the classroom and I feel I would be
able to incorporate it into my teachings.
• I have also developed a new appreciation for
technology and am able to recognize the value and
unique qualities it can bring into the classroom.
5. Example #1
• One of my favourite programs
we learnt about this semester
was Glogster. I think that there
are so many different things you
can do with the program and
the posters you can come up
with look really great! I think
this could be used in the
classroom by having the
students create an online poster
of something they are learning
about. It is easy to access for
other students as well as for
teacher marking. This program
could be used in all subjects and
at most grade levels.
6. Example #2
• Another of my favourite programs we learnt about this semester
was Blendspace. This program could be used to present my lesson
plans to students who are away or to give me students access to
my lesson plans after the class for studying. This program could
also be used for students to design their own presentations. This
program is more suitable for an older age group, but could be
used across a variety of subjects.
7. New TPACK Diagram!
My Knowledge of technology has grown
significantly! I now have a wide variety of
tools available to me that I will be able to
bring into my future classrooms. I have tools
that would be useful for all subjects and all
age groups. I feel confident in my ability to
use technology and this course has helped
me in using technology in my daily life. I
recognize the benefits of have a classroom
that incorporates technology and I now feel I
am ready to bring technology to my students
learning.
My knowledge of
content has stayed the
same.
My Knowledge of
pedagogy has
stayed the same.
Intersections!
Technology/Content – I have new and useful tools for a wide variety of contents. I know a good selection of programs useful
for each subject and a few that are useful for all subjects. My ability to teach content using technology has changed
drastically and I feel much more confident incorporating technology in with the curriculum.
Technology/Pedagogy – This intersection used to be my most difficult one to combine together, but now I feel I would be
able to successfully incorporate technology into my teachings. I know a variety of websites that provide useful lesson plans
and feel confident in adding technology into my own lesson plans. I am now better able to understand the advantages of
teaching with technology.
Content/ Pedagogy - Stayed the same.
8. Summary and Conclusion!
I feel this class has been one of the most useful
classes I have taken in Education so far. I have
been introduced to countless new technologies
that I can actually use in the classroom. I
definitely plan on taking my new knowledge
from this course into my future classrooms!
