2. Reflection
Before taking CEP 810, I was very uncomfortable with
any form of technology usage except the basic tools
that I was using everyday in the classroom. Those
included the Smart Board, the school’s email account,
and the Graphic Display Calculator.
Today, I already have a second gmail account that
includes a calendar and other correspondences for my
personal use. I have a blog, and have created
webpages, webquests, stand alone instructional
resources, podcasts, videos, imovies, and more. I have
also been a part of presentations that involved using a
chat room in vyew and voicethread.
I have been given access to readings, videos, and
various forms of learning/teaching resources. In the
following slides, I am going to outline some of my
growth throughout this course and plans for the near
future.
3. What did I know before taking this course (CEP
812)?
There are various technology tools that I can
incorporate into my teaching
Technology is taking over many, many aspects of our
lives today that we do not really have a choice
other than to embrace it
Technology tools can help us present content and
knowledge in a more organized, neat, and cool
way!
Technology can be used as a motivating tool.
I have a decent understanding of how to use
theSmartboardand TI-Smart-View.
I learned how to create a Stand Alone Instructional
Resource using a Power point Presentation in a
kiosk mode.
4. What was I unclear about and what was
important to me before taking CEP 812?
How can I use technology to enhance my teaching
and students’ learning?
How do I make sure that I am not using technology
simply for the sake of it?
How do I choose from so many technology resources?
How can I identify which one will be most effective?
How do I find the time?
Where can I get help from when I am exploring or
“trying out” these technology tools?
5. What did I learn in this course that is important
and meaningful to me?
Technology can be used to solve many different types
of problems as was evident in our Wicked Problem
Project.
Technology can be time consuming when we are
exploring and learning how to use.
There are various tutorials and resources available
through the internet to learn new technology tools.
Trial and error are important aspects of learning
technology use
Technology can be used as an effective collaborative
tool to allow people from various parts of the world
to work together.
There are technology resource tools as well as
technology presentation tools.
Technology can help us make our message clearer
and more memorable to the audience.
It is vital to connect technology knowledge with
content knowledge and pedagogy knowledge to
make teaching and learning meaningful.
Learning never stops.
6. How do I plan to continue extending my
knowledge and educational technology usage?
I must continue using and applying technology
personally and in the classroom; the more I use,
the more comfortable and proficient I will become.
I will always keep in mind that technology can help
solve problems.
Technology solutions require some form of creativity.
This is one set of skills that I would like to work on.
Always look for help and ideas from other educational
websites, such as Edmodo Support Community
Forum, Webquests etc. There are various resources
available out there.
7. What are my future goals?
To continue to implement the solution to my Wicked
Problem Project, which is to create e-lessons for as
many topics as possible for Algebra 1.
To use Edmodo as a way to communicate and
collaborate with students, peers, parents, and
colleagues.
To create at least two on-line review session to help
students prepare for major assessments during the
next school year.
To explore WizIQ and see if it can be applicable for
my teaching.
To continue to explore the new/old technology
resources and tools that are available, and take the
time to try the possibilities of their uses personally
and in the classroom.
