 It is the first food delivery app that doesn’t have a web version services.
o Directly started business in mcommerce instead of starting through
ecommerce.
 Mumbai based company founded by harshavardan mandad, who is graduated
from IIT BOMBAY.
 Aim: To have a very personal connection between people & their food through
TINYOWL app.
 Tinyowl has been aggressive on marketing & is already delivering 2000 orders a
day on average with the number to peaking to 2500 on better days.
 App has more than 100K downloads from Mumbai itself.
 It raised $1 million in august 2014, it added a $3 million series a round in
December 2014.
 TARGET is to pass 50,000 daily orders per day before end of 2015.
 It has a fleet of more than 100 delivery boys scooting around Mumbai.
 It also employs 100 people at their call center.
 For data collection TINYOWL has a team of 50 which is working on making
menus of hotels more visual and functional.
 Technology team has 40 engineers & design team has 15 people who work on
improving the app.
 Apart from this, there is a senior management team of 400 members.
 TINYOWL is off to a very impressive start in terms of number & has placed itself
at the interaction of many trends.
ONLINE FOOD DELIVERY INDUSTRY:
 The online food market has huge potential, with 200 million internet users in
India.
 Over the past one year there has been an exponential growth in number of food
app startups.
 Presently the Indian food market is around 23 trillion rupees.
 Food panda gobbled up tis biggest rivals in the country, tatykhana and justeat.in.
 Eateries like dominos, pizza hut etc. alone get 50-60% ecommerce sales. there is a
tough competition between food startups & single brand eateries.

 Food startups are getting significant funds from VCs and other investors,
 Even itiffin a Bangalore based startup is backed by cricketer robin uthappa.

 Bangalore based NUTS-OVER SALADS are promoting salads as complete
meals. It delivers salads with exotic ingredients like baby rice & poached chicken,
mediterrian baleta (garbanzo beans) & couscous.
 Even berlin based ROCKET INTERNET which recently infused $110 millions in
food panda, made a bid to acquire TINYOWL.
 But tinyowl did not want to lose control to ROCKET INTERNET.
