1. Evaluation 1) In what ways does your
product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real products?
2. • Our finishing product shows and conforms to
the typical conventions of a drama/thriller
hybrid. Originally it was supposed to be a one
genre opening; however the developments of
our ideas lead us in having to include another
genres characteristic.
3. • It conformed to a typical type of drama/thriller as after
exploring our market research by handing out
questionnaires and evaluating them, we felt as though our
content within our product had such depth that it related to
similar products that are currently out on the market. For
example, we had a look at the film “obsessed” which we
tried to stick closely to; the main storyline being a woman is
infatuated with the male character, and expressed this quite
clearly within our final product through the use of photos
and obsessive nature about our protagonist.
4. • The music, which was non-diagetic, started from the
beginning of the scene and continued throughout. We
believed that this caused an eerie and enigmatic scene for
audiences, which is the exact response we wanted.
• To an extent, it can be argued that the silence spoke volumes
as no dialogue was used but only the thriller like non-
diagetic music to emphasize her obsession. It brought on an
atmosphere whereby there is a sudden urge for all audience
members to think about what’s happened and what they
think will happen if they were to continue watching. In our
research, we found that many thriller movies build up
anticipation similarly to how we did by having some sort of
eerie, suspense-like music to keep the audience engaged at
all times.
