2. PROJECT OBJECTIVE
It will help the society to prevent the unexpected accident
during the unmanned level crossing.
`Level crossing scenario of Indian Railways 2012’ presented
at a London conference on Railway safety says 42% of the total
accidents occurs only in unmanned level crossing.
As the remedial action for the safety of road users, we
propose an automatic audio-visual indication to the road
users.
This system automatically detects the arrival of trains and
gives the indication to the road users either through audio or
visual indications. 1
7. CHALLENGES FACED
Short (1 inch or less) sensing distance varies widely according
to material being sensed
Very sensitive to environmental factors like humidity in coastal
& watery regions can affect sensing output
Output varies from 2.8V at 15cm to 0.4V at 150cm with Input
voltage between 4.5 and 5.5V DC.
