Group work is a highly productive learning context for the author as they enjoy spending time with people and understand how to create a good working environment. Seminars and lectures are also productive due to skills developed in A-levels like note-taking and the author's ability to learn from others' expertise. While learning in their room is less productive than groups or lectures, it allows the author to work in a peaceful environment with access to resources and breaks that enable effective learning.
2. Group Work
As I enjoy spending time with people and am very social, it’s
only natural that group work will be one of the learning contexts
that is most productive for me.
This is because I understand what it takes to create a good
working atmosphere within a group, such as having a mutual
respect among the group and knowing the people you work
with.
This allows me to use group work efficiently to complete a task.
But I also benefit greatly from sharing ideas with other
people, as it can often result in advice or ideas that result in the
idea becoming much better.
3. Seminars/lectures
This learning context is also very productive for me. Due to my
experience in A levels, which has allowed me to further develop skills
like problem solving. As explained in my prezi all three of my A level’s
were humanities, so I picked up humanities specific skills such as
creating links between different topics, developing abbreviated note
taking and picking out key information.
Also I respond well from the teacher/lecturer using their own
experience and knowledge within lessons. This is because you can learn
a lot from other people’s expertise. As I learn best from experiences, this
is vital for me because as I can learn from a mistake or issue without
having to actual experience it for myself.
4. My room
While this context of learning isn’t as productive as the other
two, it still enables me to learn effectively. This is because it is
more peaceful and relaxed, as I can have my music or podcasts on
and have short breaks while I work. Not to mention I have all my
resources in one area. This learning context is my preferred choice
for doing research as a result of this.
What’s more I am two minutes from the library and the internet is
readily available, so if I need extra information or quotes I can
easily get them. Plus if I am struggling to work I will take a break
and go to the gym which is very close by, which allows me to focus
much more effectively when I return.
