• Derived from the Latin word “communis” meaning to share.
• Communication is the exchange of thoughts , message , or
information by speech , visual , signals , writing , or behavior.
• It is the transmission off an idea or feeling so that the sender and
receiver share the same understanding.
5. Definition
• Communication is a process involving the section , production and
transmission of signs in such a way as to help a receiver perceive a
meaning similar to that in the mind of the communicator

7. Business communication-definition
• Business communication is the sharing of information between
people within an organization that is performed for the commercial
benefit of the organization.
8. Business Communication can be of two
types:
1. Oral Communication - An oral communication can be formal or
informal. Generally business communication is a formal means of
communication, like : meetings, interviews, group discussion,
speeches etc. An example of Informal business communication
would be - Grapevine.
2. Written Communication - Written means of business
communication includes - agenda, reports, manuals etc.
