Geographical Study on Lynnwood, Washington
DESCRIBE: what are the streets like? Stop signs? Sidewalks? Houses close together? A rich side
and poor side of town? Markets? Stores? Playgrounds? Places to congregate
Lynnwood, Washington is not unlike many of the medium sized cities within the United States. With
a population of roughly 36,000 people, the area has characteristics that correspond to both large and
small cities. For one, the area is small enough to allow intimate relationships between those within
the community. However, the city is large enough to allow for anonymity in regards to daily life, if
an individual so chooses. Both these characteristics provide Lynnwood with a unique experience
relative to its other Washington state counterparts. The streets, much like other small cities are very
clean. The community being very intimate in regards to their relationships with one another have
pride in the appearance of their city. This is very much unlike many large cities where individuals
are so overwhelmed with daily life, that they often neglect the aesthetics appeal of their city. Instead
they rely on third parties such as the state or local government to lead these initiatives. This does not
occur at Lynnwood, which is very prideful about its cleanliness, appeal, and look. In addition,
another small city benefit that is derived from the Lynnwood community is that of space and
privacy. Typically, in very densely populated, large cities, homes tend to be clustered. With very few
exceptions, large cities

The League 's Best Center For The Past Seasons
1. DeMarcus Cousins– Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins has been the league's best center for
the past few seasons. Night in and night out, Cousins produces at an All–Star caliber level.
Unfortunately he hasn't been recognized for immense talent due to the ineptitude of the franchise he
plays for (yeah, I'm looking at you Sacramento). Last season was Cousins' best, he finished the year
with per game averages of 26.9 points (4th in the league), 11.5 rebounds (5th in the league), and 1.4
blocks. He capped of the season with his second consecutive All–NBA Second Team appearance.
Cousins is a force on the offensive end of the floor; very seldom do opposing teams contain him at
that end of the floor. The scariest thing about Cousins' game is ... Show more content on

With the emergence of his game on the offensive end of the floor, Jordan was rewarded– being
named to the All–NBA First Team this past season. Jordan had a career year. He finished the season
with per game averages of 12.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Although he didn't
lead the NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three
seasons, finishing first in that category twice. Jordan's athletic ability is his biggest strength. It
allows the Clippers' to run their free–flowing, fast up–tempo offense at a peek level. Without Jordan
the offense and defense would function at much more inefficient level. The only knock on Jordan's
game is his inability to convert at the free–throw line. He's among the worst free–throw shooters in
NBA history, but even so, Jordan's value should not be overlooked. He's just as important to the
Clippers as Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. 4. Andre Drummond– Detroit Pistons Since entering the
league in 2012, Andre Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league,
Drummond was a liability on both ends of the floor– showing an inability to play efficiently on
either end, but now, four short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor. His

Personal Narrative: A Day In Center City Philadelphia
It was a sunny day in Center City Philadelphia. Julie and I went there for a day to spend time with
each other and go shopping on Walnut Street. Julie, someone I've been friends with for awhile,
walked by a homeless guy in the train station. The poor guy was asking for money and Julie placed
$5 in his cup.We kept walking and Julie continued to guide me outside the train station towards the
shopping corner of Center City. "This way!" she exclaimed "hurry before the sale ends." As we
entered the store, we heard the alarm go off. Someone was running down the street with an unpaid
sweater! Therefore, Julie suddenly yelled "STOP! I'M CALLING THE POLICE." She says this as
she's trying to catch the thief who is quickly running down the street. Her

The Role Of Urban Functional Space And Combination Of...
Introduction
Edge city was first put forward by Joel Garneau, a reporter of Washington Post, in his published
book in 1991 and then its meaning started to be crystal clear. Due to the rapid development of urban
economy and surge of population, edge city has gradually become the emergent trend of urban
development. The dispersion of urban functional space and combination of regional network has
facilitated a totally new model of urban development, which thus promotes the evolution of urban
spatial structure from single center to multi–center. The formation of edge is not only an
independent node in the urban network area but also a necessary way to connect and communicate
with peripheral cities as well as a new form of multi–center development in cities of the most
developed countries. This report will firstly describe the background of the edge city's emergence
and its concept as well as how to define this concept and then study and discuss the problems
appearing during edge city development through analysis of cases and data in order to offer relevant
solution schemes.
1.Concept of Edge City
As a new form of urban development in the United States, edge cities are newly developed
commercial, residential and employment centers located in the suburbs of the former commercial
centers, which were farmland, villages and residential land 30 years ago. Now these emerging
centers clearly provide typical urban functions, such as employment, housing, tourism and
transportation,

As parents bring children in the classroom, they sign in each sign–in sheet that contains information
about the child on the day; how the child is doing, how the child slept, and how the child ate. If
there is a concern about the child, there are teachers available to talk to. Teachers greet pleasantly as
parents and children arrive. Some children starts playing with toys as soon as they arrive, but some
start crying. Teachers hold these children and help them to say "bye" to their parents. Teacher to

are four teachers. Two are sitting with children at each table and two are doing other duties. At each

The Inner City Hd Center
The inner city HD center currently have 81 active patients, of which 90% of the patient population
are chronically noncompliant and two patients whom has expressed the desire to die and suicidal
thoughts in the last three months. The facility also cater to a diverse patient population and is
primarily of a lower socioeconomic status. As previously indicated, nurses currently do not screen
for depressive symptoms. With that said, it is impossible to compare the context of research to those
seen in professional practice. However, multiple studies agree that education plays a vital role in
depression. Keskin and Engin (2011) wrote that educational status greatly impact depression and
suicidal ideation. They found that those experiencing depression (F = 7.42, p = 0.001) and suicidal
ideation (F = 4.51, p = 0.014) have a lower educational status. Similarly, Nabolsi et al. (2015) found
that individuals with higher education lead higher QOL (F = 7.250; P = 0.001) and are less likely to
display depressive symptoms (F = 10.721, P = 0.000). On the contrary, studies has also shown that
lower educational status, more specifically, hinder patients ability to fully comprehend their disease
process and treatment modalities (Chiang, Livneh, Yen, Li, & Tsai, 2013; Keskin & Engin, 2011).
Consequently, impacting adherence and QOL. As mentioned earlier , depression is significantly
prevalent in ESRD patients leading to poor patient outcomes. According to the study by Nabolsi et

The City Of Sierra Vista Medical Center Rehabilitation...
In the city of Sierra Vista, AZ a beautiful new hospital stands on the eastern outskirts. A new
building is like a new beginning, a fresh start for all. However, with newness comes concerns that
change to problems or opportunities. Furthermore, past tendencies and or problems with existing
employees, turnover, and lack of quality leadership do not go away with a new building. The need
for change in the Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but
unless the change is made in an appropriate manner, the change would be short lived and turn out to
hurt the rehabilitation center at the hospital. The need for specific human process and human
resource interventions will lead to the necessary changes to help the ... Show more content on

The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention.
The Human Process Intervention, focuses "on people within organizations and the processes
through which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication,
problem solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings & Worley, 2015, p. 157). More
specifically the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT's and
PTA's would be to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as
the Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors
(Cummings & Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act
among their fellow co–workers could awaken them to change.
Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts
between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the
prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and
Bradbury (2014) "conflict is a fact of organizational life– it is inevitable and potentially desirable"
(p. 499). Putting the PT's, a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to
work together. In fact, the conflict among them may allow for linked learning, higher creative and

Theoretical Reasons To Explain The Shrinking City Phenomenon
Discussion There are various theoretical reasons to explain the shrinking city phenomenon.
Basically, all the research agree that economic decline and the loss of employment opportunities are
the primary causes of urban contraction. Other factors are linked to the demographic decline of
cities. Hollander and Glazer point out the depreciation of national infrastructure (i.e., highways) and
suburbanization as possible causes of de–urbanization. Pallagst also suggests that shrinkage is
connected with deindustrialization, as jobs move from the city center to cheaper land on the
periphery. This case has been observed in Detroit, where employment opportunities in the
automobile industry were transferred into the suburbs because of space for

Analysis Of Here Is New York, By E. B. White
In his book, Here is New York, E.B. White says about New York, "The city is like poetry: it
compresses all life, all races and breeds, into a small island and adds music and the accompaniment
of internal engines." This elegant statement is an illustration of White's belief that New York Is one
of the cultural centers of the world. But for what reasons is this true? For what reasons are big cities
such tremendous Centers of culture and creativity?
The first of many reasons why big cities are cultural centers is that people move to big cities from
smaller communities all over the world. This happens for several reasons. Firstly, people moving to
big cities from smaller communities are often seeking opportunities that they would not have
otherwise gotten. These opportunities Could involve education, jobs, or an opportunity to start anew.
Those seeking these opportunities are could be escaping persecution in their Homeland or simply
looking for something new and exciting. Many people move to big cities seeking to create

Comparing the Urban Plans and Philosophies of Le Corbusier...
History of City Planning
Prompt 1: Center and Region I: Compare the urban plans and philosophies of Le Corbusier and
Frank Lloyd Wright. What are the spatial, social and economic factors of each plan?
"Wright and Le Corbusier seem predestined for comparison. Their ideal cities confront each other as
two opposing variations on the same utopian theme" (Fishman, 163). Charles–Édouard Jeanneret–
Gris, more commonly known as Le Corbusier (October 6, 1887 – August 27, 1965), was a Swiss–
French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, and writer. Throughout his life, he was a pioneer
of modern architecture and city planning (Frampton, 12). One of Le Corbusier's contemporaries was
also hugely influential but with a competing plan Frank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his 1929 book, The City of To–morrow and its Planning, he even refers to changing the city as
surgery (Le Corbusier 265).
His first comprehensive city plan was La Ville Contemporaine (the Contemporary City) a project to
house three million inhabitants designed in 1922. This was Le Corbusier's first attempt to reconcile
man, nature and machine (Fishman, 189). The city starts at the center with a transportation hub for
busses, trains, cars and planes. Surrounding this hub there will be an organized cluster of 24 60–
story skyscrapers. These glass and steel skyscrapers are cross–shaped. Each individual skyscraper is
to be set within a large rectangular green space. The skyscrapers house the "brain" of the city. The
city is beautifully geometric and symmetrical. Placing the skyscrapers in the city center reinforces
the emphasis on capital as a means of creating a successful city. Because of the shape and mass of
each skyscraper, they have more usable space than an entire neighborhood but also relieves density
and congestion because of the organization (Frampton, 46).
Outside these skyscraper spaces will be a redent set–back apartment blocks. These blocks are the
"cells" of the system. The social structure of the city can be seen in the distinctions in the housing.
The housing closest to the city center is larger and lusher. And the housing further from the city is
smaller and designed for poorer people (Frampton 50). Therefore, upward mobility in the social
system

United States. These ideas had already helped ensure the successful redesign and beautification of
cities such as New York. The planning In Los Angeles used in its Civic Center was the City
Beautiful style this was done to create a center for the city that would also serve as an attraction and
multifunctional space that competed with the monuments and structures of major American cities.
The Los Angeles Civic Center was designed in the Grand Manner style which refers to an idealized
aesthetic style. This idea came to from Daniel Burnham's City Beautiful Projects in Washington
D.C, Manhattan, and Chicago. Burnham's idea of beauty came from what he called "municipal art"
which consisted of magnificent parks, wide boulevards, highly designed buildings, and public
gathering places that were embellished with monuments and fountains. The Civic Center is seen as
an example of City Beautiful Planning, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haussmann believed that any money spent on a city should better that city and the money invested
there would add to property values. Many other major cities in America used this style to help
reinvent their cities in the early 20th century; this was done by creating neoclassical buildings while
adding wide boulevards and streets as well as aesthetically designed monuments and city plazas that
made these cities attractive. Often the designers believed that city beautiful planning was not just to
create beautiful buildings, but to also control the whole city center or as was the case in Chicago the
whole metropolitan area. The Civic Center is known as the "Ten Minute

Enhance The Urban Community Through The Development Of A...
2. Enhance the urban community through the development of a mixed–use city center that focuses
on creating a diverse community through neighborhood–serving businesses, and improved
transportation. The availability of retail goods and services is spread out and undesirable for many
shoppers in the current layout of the SoMa neighborhood. People are spending an excessive amount
of time either by foot or car to fulfill their basic daily needs, as compared to other neighborhoods in
San Francisco. The inconvenience of retail locations sprawled among the streets of SoMa must be
addressed by the city to improve both economic and social aspects of this community. If the city

The park should be improved through a capital project including a public art piece and outdoor
space at the park. Then retail shopping including all utilities, dining, entertainment, grocery, drug–
store, and dry–cleaning surrounding the outdoor park area. The city's investment in capital
improvements to the park, as well as attracting new business to a centralized location will also boost
the attractiveness of the area for housing and job growth. Overall, creating a mixed–use space by
South Park will create a convenient neighborhood center with businesses specifically there to serve
the community and provide benefits that will create a sustainable future. "SoMa was primarily
warehousing and manufacturing . . . in many locations, it is necessary to drive, increasing traffic
congestion and requiring more parking for travelers" which shows that the community is lacking
easily accessible public transportation methods (Spur). As previously discussed, the city's emphasis
on the growth of business and retail mix in SoMa will create new issues with traffic, transit and
parking. The city's main goal regarding traffic should be focused on transportation methods
including walking, biking or (ride–sharing) with muni. The concern related to increased traffic due
to increased population density in this area can be addressed with these transportation planning
outlines below. Emphasizing new

Inner City Law Center Application Essay
It is with great enthusiasm that I write to apply for the Staff Attorney Homelessness Prevention
Project position at the Inner City Law Center (ICLC). Andrew Esbenshade from Caldwell Leslie &
Proctor, PC recently referred me to you. He spoke highly of the ICLC and encouraged me to apply
to this position. Given my professional experience and academic background, I am confident I could
be an asset to your team.
My background highlights my commitment to ICLC's mission and values. Prior to law school, I
spent over six months advocating for proper foster care funding for caregivers at the Alliance for
Children's Rights. It was there that I learned that many people who need help from our government
often fall through the cracks because of bureaucratic or political policies. I then spent law school
learning about public interest law through a Civil Rights Litigation Seminar, a research position
focused on reproductive rights for women of color, and a domestic violence agency internship. I
learned civil rights litigation strategies from Brown v. Board of Education through my seminar, and
disability rights strategies at the Disability Rights Legal Center. I also learned trauma informed
direct client skills at my domestic violence internship. After law school, I secured a one–year post
graduate fellowship from Loyola Law School to provide free legal services to a domestic violence
program at the YWCA of Glendale. I strategized with the staff attorney and case managers to find
the best legal resources for each client. I offered immigration representation, in addition to preparing
family law forms, and coached clients to represent themselves in family law ... Show more content

My City Become The Best
In order to have my city become the best it could be, while also being productive, I had to break my
city into three zones. These zones consisted of a commercial area, residential area, and a industrial
area. The first thing I did was build a residential area on the Eastern side of my city. I wanted my
residential area to be far enough away from where I intended to zone my industrial, however close
enough to commercial areas so businesses would get customers. With a major highway running
along the Northern border of my city, I decided to place my commercial zone near it. In doing so, I
hoped to get shoppers from other cities that were passing by. After both my residential and
commercial areas were zoned, I decided to focus on my industrial zone. I wanted my industrial zone
to be located farther away from my residential zone, where the wind would blow pollution away
from houses and shopping centers. My industrial zone was located in the far Southern portion of my
city, near a large body of water so freight could be shipped. The industrial zone is also where I put in
a waste management center, a garbage/recycling center, and a power plant. These were all placed
strategically because the pollution of factories, along with air and land pollution of my plant and
garbage center would be controlled all in one area.
Since the game gives out a limited amount of money to being with, I had to be careful with what I
put my money into. I decided to put a four lane highway that ran the

Disneyland Area Getting 14 New Hotels Essay
For those of us who have been to Disneyland or been in the area, have dealt with the traffic and the
numerous amount of people roaming the streets. This issue has been affecting the city of Anaheim
for many years and now it 's reaching a boiling point. Within the next couple years, the new hotel
construction plans near Disneyland are scheduled to be built. The new hotels will impact an already
crowded area and increase the traffic. The main reason for the new hotels is to attract more tourists,
ultimately gaining profit off of them. The city of Anaheim should not allow new hotels near
Disneyland to be built. Instead, they can utilize the newly built transportation center to gain profit
from the tourist. In the article "Disneyland area getting 14 new hotels," Sarah Tully discusses the
reasons for the new hotels. The construction plans show that the hotels are being placed within 3
miles from Disneyland to remain in close to the tourism center near Disney. Mostly all are being
place along Harbor Boulevard and are within a couple 100 feet from each other. Also, the hotels are
going to be replacing empty lots, park lots, restaurants, and inns. The reason why Anaheim is
allowing the construction of new hotels is because the city of Anaheim has invested a lot of money
and resources to attract tourists to the local area (Tully). According to Berry Tramel in the article
"Getting past Disneyland foot traffic," discusses how catered the city of Anaheim has become for
the tourist. As

Description Of The Quad City Arts Center Gallery
I decided to go to the Quad City Arts Center Gallery. This gallery is located at 1715 2nd AVE. Rock
Island, IL. When I first pulled up to this gallery I realized that it was very modern. The building had
two different establishments on either side in a plaza setting. My first impression of this art exhibit
is that it is very clean and roomy. Right when I walked into the building, the lady that was working
there was very welcoming. This gallery changes its exhibition every couple of months. The current
exhibition is called, "Out and About," and has been there since August, and will be there until the
end of October. This exhibition focuses on the outdoors. The open spaces throughout the gallery

The date of completion was not available, but no matter the date it will always be a piece that
transcends time. This artist's choice mediums were a blank canvas and oil paint. This painting shows
the scene of standing on the edge of a wood, and staring off into the distance at the field and
mountains ahead. This painting is in one–point perspective. I can tell that it is one–point perspective
because as I stood there, looking at this painting, I felt as though I was there in that scene. I felt as
though there were more trees behind me since a tree stood in the top left corner of my vision. The
field in the middle of the artwork, that covers a majority of the painting, is full of flowers, plants,
and seems to go on forever. I can tell that the mountains are far in the distance because of the use of
atmospheric perspective that gives the feeling of depth. The colors of the mountains, and how they
seem like they are slowly fading, gives the feeling that there is depth, and that the mountains are
getting farther and farther away. I would say that this artist style is realistic. The reason is that at
first glance everyone would know what the painting is of. As I looked to the left of this painting I
saw a painting by Karen Bloome who painted an abstract version of a wood, full of trees. The major

New Seminole City Center Project
For years, the overriding hope for officials, business owners and many residents of the city of
Seminole was for Seminole Mall to be rebuilt and bring with it a vibrant shopping destination that
would usher in jobs and prosperity. That goal seems within grasp now that developers have
proposed tearing down the existing structure and building a spiffy, more modern design with room
for a 12–screen movie complex, a fitness center, retail shops and restaurants (Lindberg, July 31,
2014). In this section, the redevelopment of the Seminole Mall into the new Seminole City Center
will be discussed; furthermore, the assessment and analysis of the effectiveness of the policy
initiative, with regards to the economic foresight and in relation to other city improvements. The
policy initiative developed for the Seminole City Center project was completed using a
Development Agreement (DA). The DA is the primary tool used to support economic development
for the City of Seminole. The DA is derived from the 2015 Florida Statute, Chapter 163 and allows
the developer and the city to negotiate certain items in the redevelopment process (Ely, 2015). It
adds certainty to what can be built and how it is built. The regulation of the agreement offers
assistance to the process while adjusting the agreement through terms that both sides agree upon
before the final build outs. The DA becomes the primary social and political tool to ensure
individual choices and the constitutional governance that

Threaded Discussion: 1) In and FPO context, full–cost accounting can be used to define cost
objects. However, since NPOs are not outputting products, full–cost accounting is used to serve a
different purpose of cost allocation. Full–cost accounting allows an NPO to be broken down into
cost centers, which Young suggests be thought of as "buckets" during the Stage 1 analysis. The two
categories of centers are mission centers and cost centers. The mission centers deal with the NPO's
main purpose, generally charging for a service, which is why it can be called a "revenue center".
The other type of center is a service center, which serves the purpose of accumulating the costs of
activities to support the mission center. Three methods of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These criteria are not necessarily the same for an FPO because FPOs are generally easier to
distinguish between a direct and indirect cost, which changes the criteria. 4) I touched upon this
briefly in my previous discussion of question three that one main difference between the methods is
the accuracy and complexity; the direct method is least accurate and simplest, stepdown method
more accurate and more complex, and the reciprocal method is the most accurate and the most
complex. The direct method excludes the cost effects associated with one service center's use of
another service center. The stepdown method includes the cost effects associated with one service
center's use of another service center and allocates service centers to other service centers/mission
centers. A downside to the stepdown method is that a service center cannot receive an allocation
once its costs have been allocated. The reciprocal method allows all service centers to both make
and receive allocations to and from each other and mission centers. It is apparent through each
method's functions why one is more accurate and complex than the last. 5) A process system is used
to find an average cost per unit by dividing the cost by the total number of units produced, those
units of output being nearly identical. A job–order

The Preservation Of Chinatown Chicago

The Preservation of Chinatown in Philadelphia
In order for Philadelphia to maintain its rich culture and diversity, Chinatown must be preserved.
Chinatown has become a centerpiece of Philadelphia for tourist and residents alike to experience
eastern culture. The people are friendly, there are plenty of strangers on the streets, and plenty late
night business and as Jane Jacobs would describe it, successful (35). Therefore as a public space that
is suitable to the public it should be preserved. However, it is the target for many developers. In the
past there have been numerous attempts to develop the Chinatown district, all of which would have
compromised the integrity of Chinatown, which has been around since the late 1800s. The
Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation, or the PCDC, was founded because of these
threats to Chinatown and has constantly fought off development threats to Chinatown (Lechner).
However, the developments that were constructed including the Vine Street Expressway and several
urban renewal projects south of Chinatown have effectively stopped growth in those areas. Because
of limited space and growing population further developments have been shot down rather quickly
by residents including the Foxwood Casino and in 2004 the construction of the new Phillies
stadium.
One of the first of many barrages of developmental destructions of Chinatown was the
reconstruction of the Vine Street

Board Conflict At The Crescent City Nursing Center
Board Conflict Case Study 7–1 The conflict between Paul Blackman and the board of directors at
the Crescent City Nursing Center is a situation common in many healthcare establishments across
the nation. Blackman, hired as the chief executive officer (CEO), has been tasked to improve the
financial situation of the nursing center while balancing resources and maintaining a staff loyal to
the organization's goals, not just one individual within the organization (Goldsmith, 2011). The
perception of the board of directors, since Blackman's appointment, is that he has created problems
among staff and facilitated the release of senior staff who were believed to have served the board of
directors well over the years (Goldsmith, 2011). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these factors have a direct effect on the relationship between the board and executive
management (American College of Healthcare [ACH], 2004). According to the ACH (2004), neither
the board nor executive management can be successful without the other, but together they form an
organizational dynamic, robust and strong with mutually beneficial outcomes and optimal
performance for the organization. In any organization the personal and professional relationships
between board of directors, CEOs, management and staff play a critical role in how effectively an
organization's operational goals and objectives will be fulfilled. Personal relationships between the
board of directors and CEOs can be especially problematic when personal perceptions and emotions
are influencing decisions of the organization. Singleton and Nail (1986) indicated in some situations
professionals are able to handle business and personal relationships with the same individuals while
others see the relationships as dichotomous. Board members that are family or long–time personal
friends can create personal bias based on incentives to individual members rather than pursuing the
best interest of the organization.
Based on the case study, the board of directors has a long, lucrative history in the nursing facility.

Romulus Research Paper
Romulus' undertakings and innovative approaches in finding Rome had significant consequences on
shaping the future of the city and assuring its vast importance in the human history. As Romulus set
out to establish Rome as an orderly and highly–functioning city, he produced what can be
considered a blueprint for most major European cities. As the beginnings of one of the first
European cities were marked and influenced by various political and socio–economic shifts so were
the origins of the American cities. Although the origins of European and American cities vary to a
great extent, politics and the social and economic conditions ultimately influenced the shape, design,
and the role of cities on each continent.
One of the main differences in the layout of the American and European cities is the way that the
core of towns is constructed. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the urban cores are highly dense. However, many miles of suburbia stretch in all directions
beyond the city center (Urban). Unlike the European cities, the American cities began a rapid
growth only a couple of hundred years ago. In addition, the growth was accompanied by the rapid
expansion of the transport systems such as the steam train and later, a car. The modern inventions of
transportation gave citizens the ability to commute much larger distances and in turn caused higher
urban sprawl, which led to lower density in comparison to the European towns (Urban).
Despite the vast differences in the ways that European and American cities were designed and
shaped, their unique characteristics reflect the distinctive circumstances in which they were created
in both political and socio–economic realms. Furthermore, although each continent has a distinct
urban origin, it is crucial to point out that it was Romulus' undertakings that lead to the existence of
the western democracy and its importance in the shaping of the cities that exist

Inner City Writing Center Essay
A test of success is when the odds are stacked against you. Inner–city high schools face this problem
on a daily basis. When it comes to the formation of writing centers, high schools, especially ones
located in America's largest metropolitan areas, face a plethora of problems. However, by using
unique tools and relationships–collaboration between high schools and local universities, choosing
the proper tutors, and a unique writing center setting–inner–city high schools across the nation have
been able to develop successful writing centers. Developing writing centers in inner–city school
systems can be especially difficult. In a time of decreased attention on inner–city school systems,
many schools in metropolitan areas face severe budget crises. With their budgets stretched thin,
many inner–city schools do not have the means or money to develop and run a writing center
program for their students. Many government planners and local politicians are increasingly focused
on suburbia; consequently, most local money is given to schools in well–to–do suburbs, which come
at the expense of inner–city schools. With such little money, it may seem impossible for constrained

Central Delaware Riverfront District
Central Delaware Riverfront District is a place with rich history. This article is mainly about
comparing the master plans of this area issued in the late 20th Century and 2011.
As part of the background, I'd like to mention that the development of Central Riverfront District
could be traced back to 1967. The Philadelphia City Planning Commission made a plan to build the
I–95 Express Highway in that year. It was a postwar interstate highway happening with the
automobile growth, serving the purpose of development out. But it also isolated the riverfront
(which was mainly the industrial area at that time) with the center city, putting the future
development of the waterfront district into a negative position.
Fig 1 1967 Proposed Land Use of Center City Redevelopment Area
In the late 20th Century about 1980, there was a master plan for Central Delaware Riverfront issued
by Philadelphia City Planning Commission. It stated consideration for the whole planning from the
aspects of transportation, land use, development phasing, recreation & open space and so on, by
previously studying the existing condition and analyzing development potential of the site. The
background of the plan was that Philadelphia entered the post–industrial era because of industry
decline. Some of the piers were no longer in use and many factories were moved to other places.
The riverfront district needed to be redeveloped.
After 30 years, the Planning Commission approved another master plan for Central

Over a period of two years the developer was able to acquire sufficient real state to cross the

Geographic and Demographic Study of Lynnwood, Washington

  • 1. Geographical Study on Lynnwood, Washington DESCRIBE: what are the streets like? Stop signs? Sidewalks? Houses close together? A rich side and poor side of town? Markets? Stores? Playgrounds? Places to congregate Lynnwood, Washington is not unlike many of the medium sized cities within the United States. With a population of roughly 36,000 people, the area has characteristics that correspond to both large and small cities. For one, the area is small enough to allow intimate relationships between those within the community. However, the city is large enough to allow for anonymity in regards to daily life, if an individual so chooses. Both these characteristics provide Lynnwood with a unique experience relative to its other Washington state counterparts. The streets, much like other small cities are very clean. The community being very intimate in regards to their relationships with one another have pride in the appearance of their city. This is very much unlike many large cities where individuals are so overwhelmed with daily life, that they often neglect the aesthetics appeal of their city. Instead they rely on third parties such as the state or local government to lead these initiatives. This does not occur at Lynnwood, which is very prideful about its cleanliness, appeal, and look. In addition, another small city benefit that is derived from the Lynnwood community is that of space and privacy. Typically, in very densely populated, large cities, homes tend to be clustered. With very few exceptions, large cities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The League 's Best Center For The Past Seasons 1. DeMarcus Cousins– Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins has been the league's best center for the past few seasons. Night in and night out, Cousins produces at an All–Star caliber level. Unfortunately he hasn't been recognized for immense talent due to the ineptitude of the franchise he plays for (yeah, I'm looking at you Sacramento). Last season was Cousins' best, he finished the year with per game averages of 26.9 points (4th in the league), 11.5 rebounds (5th in the league), and 1.4 blocks. He capped of the season with his second consecutive All–NBA Second Team appearance. Cousins is a force on the offensive end of the floor; very seldom do opposing teams contain him at that end of the floor. The scariest thing about Cousins' game is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the emergence of his game on the offensive end of the floor, Jordan was rewarded– being named to the All–NBA First Team this past season. Jordan had a career year. He finished the season with per game averages of 12.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Although he didn't lead the NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three seasons, finishing first in that category twice. Jordan's athletic ability is his biggest strength. It allows the Clippers' to run their free–flowing, fast up–tempo offense at a peek level. Without Jordan the offense and defense would function at much more inefficient level. The only knock on Jordan's game is his inability to convert at the free–throw line. He's among the worst free–throw shooters in NBA history, but even so, Jordan's value should not be overlooked. He's just as important to the Clippers as Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. 4. Andre Drummond– Detroit Pistons Since entering the league in 2012, Andre Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league, Drummond was a liability on both ends of the floor– showing an inability to play efficiently on either end, but now, four short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor. Julie and I went there for a day to spend time with each other and go shopping on Walnut Street. Julie, someone I've been friends with for awhile, walked by a homeless guy in the train station. The poor guy was asking for money and Julie placed $5 in his cup.We kept walking and Julie continued to guide me outside the train station towards the shopping corner of Center City. "This way!" she exclaimed "hurry before the sale ends." As we entered the store, we heard the alarm go off. Someone was running down the street with an unpaid sweater! Therefore, Julie suddenly yelled "STOP! I'M CALLING THE POLICE." She says this as she's trying to catch the thief who is quickly running down the street. Her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Role Of Urban Functional Space And Combination Of... Introduction Edge city was first put forward by Joel Garneau, a reporter of Washington Post, in his published book in 1991 and then its meaning started to be crystal clear. Due to the rapid development of urban economy and surge of population, edge city has gradually become the emergent trend of urban development. The dispersion of urban functional space and combination of regional network has facilitated a totally new model of urban development, which thus promotes the evolution of urban spatial structure from single center to multi–center. The formation of edge is not only an independent node in the urban network area but also a necessary way to connect and communicate with peripheral cities as well as a new form of multi–center development in cities of the most developed countries. This report will firstly describe the background of the edge city's emergence and its concept as well as how to define this concept and then study and discuss the problems appearing during edge city development through analysis of cases and data in order to offer relevant solution schemes. 1.Concept of Edge City As a new form of urban development in the United States, edge cities are newly developed commercial, residential and employment centers located in the suburbs of the former commercial centers, which were farmland, villages and residential land 30 years ago. Now these emerging centers clearly provide typical urban functions, such as employment, housing, tourism and transportation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Inner City Hd Center The inner city HD center currently have 81 active patients, of which 90% of the patient population are chronically noncompliant and two patients whom has expressed the desire to die and suicidal thoughts in the last three months. The facility also cater to a diverse patient population and is primarily of a lower socioeconomic status. As previously indicated, nurses currently do not screen for depressive symptoms. With that said, it is impossible to compare the context of research to those seen in professional practice. However, multiple studies agree that education plays a vital role in depression. Keskin and Engin (2011) wrote that educational status greatly impact depression and suicidal ideation. They found that those experiencing depression (F = 7.42, p = 0.001) and suicidal ideation (F = 4.51, p = 0.014) have a lower educational status. Similarly, Nabolsi et al. (2015) found that individuals with higher education lead higher QOL (F = 7.250; P = 0.001) and are less likely to display depressive symptoms (F = 10.721, P = 0.000). On the contrary, studies has also shown that lower educational status, more specifically, hinder patients ability to fully comprehend their disease process and treatment modalities (Chiang, Livneh, Yen, Li, & Tsai, 2013; Keskin & Engin, 2011). Consequently, impacting adherence and QOL. As mentioned earlier , depression is significantly prevalent in ESRD patients leading to poor patient outcomes. According to the study by Nabolsi et al. A new building is like a new beginning, a fresh start for all. However, with newness comes concerns that change to problems or opportunities. Furthermore, past tendencies and or problems with existing employees, turnover, and lack of quality leadership do not go away with a new building. The need for change in the Canyon Vista Medical Center (CVMC) rehabilitation department is apparent, but unless the change is made in an appropriate manner, the change would be short lived and turn out to hurt the rehabilitation center at the hospital. The need for specific human process and human resource interventions will lead to the necessary changes to help the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of conflict between these two groups at CVMC requires intervention. The Human Process Intervention, focuses "on people within organizations and the processes through which they accomplish organizational goals. These processes include communication, problem solving, group decision making and leadership (Cummings & Worley, 2015, p. 157). More specifically the intervention that would be utilized to help with the conflict between the PT's and PTA's would be to do individual interventions and team building. An individual intervention such as the Johari window is a great tool that allows individuals to gain feedback about their behaviors (Cummings & Worley, 2015). The understanding and awareness of their behaviors and how they act among their fellow co–workers could awaken them to change. Along with individual interventions, team building would be utilized to help with the conflicts between these two groups. As evident in the past, conflict among these two groups roams, the prevention and quieting of conflict has been unsuccessful. In the words of Coggburn, Battaglio and Bradbury (2014) "conflict is a fact of organizational life– it is inevitable and potentially desirable" (p. 499). Putting the PT's, a PTA and a tech together as a team would force these three groups to work together. • 10. Theoretical Reasons To Explain The Shrinking City Phenomenon Discussion There are various theoretical reasons to explain the shrinking city phenomenon. Basically, all the research agree that economic decline and the loss of employment opportunities are the primary causes of urban contraction. Other factors are linked to the demographic decline of cities. Hollander and Glazer point out the depreciation of national infrastructure (i.e., highways) and suburbanization as possible causes of de–urbanization. Pallagst also suggests that shrinkage is connected with deindustrialization, as jobs move from the city center to cheaper land on the periphery. This case has been observed in Detroit, where employment opportunities in the automobile industry were transferred into the suburbs because of space for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History of City Planning Prompt 1: Center and Region I: Compare the urban plans and philosophies of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright. What are the spatial, social and economic factors of each plan? "Wright and Le Corbusier seem predestined for comparison. Their ideal cities confront each other as two opposing variations on the same utopian theme" (Fishman, 163). Charles–Édouard Jeanneret– Gris, more commonly known as Le Corbusier (October 6, 1887 – August 27, 1965), was a Swiss– French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, and writer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his 1929 book, The City of To–morrow and its Planning, he even refers to changing the city as surgery (Le Corbusier 265). His first comprehensive city plan was La Ville Contemporaine (the Contemporary City) a project to house three million inhabitants designed in 1922. This was Le Corbusier's first attempt to reconcile man, nature and machine (Fishman, 189). The city starts at the center with a transportation hub for busses, trains, cars and planes. Surrounding this hub there will be an organized cluster of 24 60– story skyscrapers. These glass and steel skyscrapers are cross–shaped. Each individual skyscraper is to be set within a large rectangular green space. The skyscrapers house the "brain" of the city. The city is beautifully geometric and symmetrical. Placing the skyscrapers in the city center reinforces the emphasis on capital as a means of creating a successful city. Because of the shape and mass of each skyscraper, they have more usable space than an entire neighborhood but also relieves density and congestion because of the organization (Frampton, 46). Outside these skyscraper spaces will be a redent set–back apartment blocks. These blocks are the "cells" of the system. The social structure of the city can be seen in the distinctions in the housing. The housing closest to the city center is larger and lusher. And the housing further from the city is smaller and designed for poorer people (Frampton 50). Therefore, upward mobility in the social system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I wanted my residential area to be far enough away from where I intended to zone my industrial, however close enough to commercial areas so businesses would get customers. With a major highway running along the Northern border of my city, I decided to place my commercial zone near it. In doing so, I hoped to get shoppers from other cities that were passing by. After both my residential and commercial areas were zoned, I decided to focus on my industrial zone. This issue has been affecting the city of Anaheim for many years and now it 's reaching a boiling point. Within the next couple years, the new hotel construction plans near Disneyland are scheduled to be built. The new hotels will impact an already crowded area and increase the traffic. The main reason for the new hotels is to attract more tourists, ultimately gaining profit off of them. The city of Anaheim should not allow new hotels near Disneyland to be built. Instead, they can utilize the newly built transportation center to gain profit from the tourist. In the article "Disneyland area getting 14 new hotels," Sarah Tully discusses the reasons for the new hotels. The construction plans show that the hotels are being placed within 3 miles from Disneyland to remain in close to the tourism center near Disney. Mostly all are being place along Harbor Boulevard and are within a couple 100 feet from each other. Also, the hotels are going to be replacing empty lots, park lots, restaurants, and inns. The reason why Anaheim is allowing the construction of new hotels is because the city of Anaheim has invested a lot of money and resources to attract tourists to the local area (Tully). • 30. New Seminole City Center Project For years, the overriding hope for officials, business owners and many residents of the city of Seminole was for Seminole Mall to be rebuilt and bring with it a vibrant shopping destination that would usher in jobs and prosperity. That goal seems within grasp now that developers have proposed tearing down the existing structure and building a spiffy, more modern design with room for a 12–screen movie complex, a fitness center, retail shops and restaurants (Lindberg, July 31, 2014). In this section, the redevelopment of the Seminole Mall into the new Seminole City Center will be discussed; furthermore, the assessment and analysis of the effectiveness of the policy initiative, with regards to the economic foresight and in relation to other city improvements. The policy initiative developed for the Seminole City Center project was completed using a Development Agreement (DA). The DA is the primary tool used to support economic development for the City of Seminole. The DA is derived from the 2015 Florida Statute, Chapter 163 and allows the developer and the city to negotiate certain items in the redevelopment process (Ely, 2015). It adds certainty to what can be built and how it is built. The regulation of the agreement offers assistance to the process while adjusting the agreement through terms that both sides agree upon before the final build outs. Full–cost accounting allows an NPO to be broken down into cost centers, which Young suggests be thought of as "buckets" during the Stage 1 analysis. The two categories of centers are mission centers and cost centers. The mission centers deal with the NPO's main purpose, generally charging for a service, which is why it can be called a "revenue center". The direct method excludes the cost effects associated with one service center's use of another service center. The stepdown method includes the cost effects associated with one service center's use of another service center and allocates service centers to other service centers/mission centers. A downside to the stepdown method is that a service center cannot receive an allocation once its costs have been allocated. The reciprocal method allows all service centers to both make and receive allocations to and from each other and mission centers. It is apparent through each method's functions why one is more accurate and complex than the last. 5) A process system is used to find an average cost per unit by dividing the cost by the total number of units produced, those units of output being nearly identical. The Preservation Of Chinatown Chicago Phillip Fok David Walls English 0802 September 16, 2015 The Preservation of Chinatown in Philadelphia In order for Philadelphia to maintain its rich culture and diversity, Chinatown must be preserved. Chinatown has become a centerpiece of Philadelphia for tourist and residents alike to experience eastern culture. The people are friendly, there are plenty of strangers on the streets, and plenty late night business and as Jane Jacobs would describe it, successful (35). Therefore as a public space that is suitable to the public it should be preserved. However, it is the target for many developers. In the past there have been numerous attempts to develop the Chinatown district, all of which would have compromised the integrity of Chinatown, which has been around since the late 1800s. The Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation, or the PCDC, was founded because of these threats to Chinatown and has constantly fought off development threats to Chinatown (Lechner). However, the developments that were constructed including the Vine Street Expressway and several urban renewal projects south of Chinatown have effectively stopped growth in those areas. Because of limited space and growing population further developments have been shot down rather quickly by residents including the Foxwood Casino and in 2004 the construction of the new Phillies stadium. • 37. Descriptive Essay: The Kansas City Sprint Center I opened my eyes and I saw towering skyscrapers all around me. My mom and dad were talking in the front seat while my sister was listening to music, looking out the window, as was I. After we drove a few blocks down, I noticed an amazingly structured, round glass building. As I too out my ear pieces and the music faded, I heard my dad say," And that right there is the Kansas City Sprint Center." My stomach dropped with excitement and anxiety. We continued to drive pass this incredible architecture to find a place to park in the parking lot. My dad ended up pulling to the side of the road to drop off my mom, sister, and me at the front doors so we can go ahead and find seats inside. I observed my environment and it is exactly as I expected: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the hour was up, I headed up the stairs to find my team gathered together and stretching. I sat and joined the clutter of cheerleaders to stretch myself as well so I don't get hurt during my performance. Our coach finally showed up and ordered us to huddle up around her. "Close your eyes," she demanded. We all new exactly what this meant. I obeyed her orders and listened for her to turn on our music for the routine. "Ding Ding. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5..." I started counting and imagining every step and motion I take in the routine we are about to perform. After the 2 minutes and 30 seconds was up, I opened my eyes, Stood up with the rest of the squad, and followed our coach down to the practice area. We waited for our turn to warm up stunts. After about 5 minutes, one of the staff members instructed us that it was our turn in the dead mat. We had 6 minutes on each floor: stunts, then tumbling, then the big floor which is where we mark and run through our entire routine. Once done with all of that, we walked over, panting, to the drinking fountain and filled our plastic cup we were given with water. I threw away my cup and walked over to my coach, still trying to catch my breathe. The others joined and she gave us a pep talk. We all bowed our heads to pray, then got in our walk–in lines. I looked at the girl next to me," We got this. It will all hit if you just believe in yourself and everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Personal Narrative: Drive-By Town Growing up in a small town, Community is everything. Everyone rallies together for the same cause and belief. Knowing that, my hometown of Maple Lake has a small population of about 2,000 residents, many people see our town as a "Drive–By town". Every town has a story to tell, I believe Maple Lake needs a new design to our downtown area, to encourage growth and thriving business, which in turn helps boost the town's economy. The current downtown area is a simple street with a few businesses and that's all that's there. Yes, I can say that downtown does have some visitors, however with my plan I would like the downtown area to thrive and bring outside residents to the area. With many more people attending downtown, my hope would be that the city government would have to move out of its current location, and instead a new City Hall and Community Center; a place where the community members can meet and a Senior Center. The Senior Center would be an important to keep the past alive in Maple Lake, and have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. Romulus Research Paper Romulus' undertakings and innovative approaches in finding Rome had significant consequences on shaping the future of the city and assuring its vast importance in the human history. As Romulus set out to establish Rome as an orderly and highly–functioning city, he produced what can be considered a blueprint for most major European cities. As the beginnings of one of the first European cities were marked and influenced by various political and socio–economic shifts so were the origins of the American cities. Although the origins of European and American cities vary to a great extent, politics and the social and economic conditions ultimately influenced the shape, design, and the role of cities on each continent. One of the main differences in the layout of the American and European cities is the way that the core of towns is constructed. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the urban cores are highly dense. However, many miles of suburbia stretch in all directions beyond the city center (Urban). Unlike the European cities, the American cities began a rapid growth only a couple of hundred years ago. In addition, the growth was accompanied by the rapid expansion of the transport systems such as the steam train and later, a car. The modern inventions of transportation gave citizens the ability to commute much larger distances and in turn caused higher urban sprawl, which led to lower density in comparison to the European towns (Urban). Despite the vast differences in the ways that European and American cities were designed and shaped, their unique characteristics reflect the distinctive circumstances in which they were created in both political and socio–economic realms. Furthermore, although each continent has a distinct urban origin, it is crucial to point out that it was Romulus' undertakings that lead to the existence of the western democracy and its importance in the shaping of the cities that exist ... • 40. Inner City Writing Center Essay A test of success is when the odds are stacked against you. Inner–city high schools face this problem on a daily basis. When it comes to the formation of writing centers, high schools, especially ones located in America's largest metropolitan areas, face a plethora of problems. However, by using unique tools and relationships–collaboration between high schools and local universities, choosing the proper tutors, and a unique writing center setting–inner–city high schools across the nation have been able to develop successful writing centers. Developing writing centers in inner–city school systems can be especially difficult. In a time of decreased attention on inner–city school systems, many schools in metropolitan areas face severe budget crises. With their budgets stretched thin, many inner–city schools do not have the means or money to develop and run a writing center program for their students. Many government planners and local politicians are increasingly focused on suburbia; consequently, most local money is given to schools in well–to–do suburbs, which come at the expense of inner–city schools. With such little money, it may seem impossible for constrained metropolitan high schools to form and manage writing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some inner–city writing centers have hired tutors directly from their high school's honors program. However, in other instances, hiring high school writing center tutors from across the academic spectrum may also prove beneficial. If a writing center hires a variety of students, it would not be the "good students" talking down to the "poorer students." With a variety of high school tutors, those students being consulted may feel more of a connection to someone who is in an academically similar position, and if such a connection can be made, better communication can be ... • 42. Central Delaware Riverfront District Central Delaware Riverfront District is a place with rich history. This article is mainly about comparing the master plans of this area issued in the late 20th Century and 2011. As part of the background, I'd like to mention that the development of Central Riverfront District could be traced back to 1967. The Philadelphia City Planning Commission made a plan to build the I–95 Express Highway in that year. It was a postwar interstate highway happening with the automobile growth, serving the purpose of development out. But it also isolated the riverfront (which was mainly the industrial area at that time) with the center city, putting the future development of the waterfront district into a negative position. Fig 1 1967 Proposed Land Use of Center City Redevelopment Area In the late 20th Century about 1980, there was a master plan for Central Delaware Riverfront issued by Philadelphia City Planning Commission. It stated consideration for the whole planning from the aspects of transportation, land use, development phasing, recreation & open space and so on, by previously studying the existing condition and analyzing development potential of the site. The background of the plan was that Philadelphia entered the post–industrial era because of industry decline. Some of the piers were no longer in use and many factories were moved to other places. The riverfront district needed to be redeveloped. After 30 years, the Planning Commission approved another master plan for Central ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2011 the project was revived by Swire Properties and Brickell City Center was designed by Arquitectonica and approved by the City of Miami under a SAP– Special Area Plan zoning permit. The importance of this special zoning was that it allows developer to work hand to hand with the city and allowed an integration of public infrastructure and improvements for the area. Over a period of two years the developer was able to acquire sufficient real state to cross the threshold needed to qualify for SAP– Special Area Planning Zoning.
