1. Abstract
Classroom Management is paramount when it comes to creating
an atmosphere conducive to learning. Management is far more
than keeping your students quiet and in their seats; it is also the
effective and efficient use of instructional time and managing your
students attention spans to ensure maximum engagement and
comprehension of measured assessments and benchmarks. The
following paper details a classroom management plan I
implemented and utilized during the 2011-2012 school year for a
seventh grade science class at north Miami Middle School.
2. My Philosophy
I truly believe that I am the sole and only authority within
my classroom and I act as such. This is not to say that I
do no believe in allowing my students certain flexibility
or rewarding them for a job well done as Glasser
propagates, in fact I am well known for the
extravagance and thoughtfulness’ of my rewards.
However, I am a firm believer in absolute control, for
without it, you are lost, especially in a Title 1 school
such as the one I teach in which is why the central
element and component revolves around the idea of
order.
3. Discipline
I expect my students to behave in a manner in
accordance to my own carefully laid out and
sharpened rules, all of which are rooted in the
school’s own student code of conduct. In
essence, my rules can be summarized as the
following:
4. 1. Stay in your seat at all times.
2. Talking is prohibited unless you have raised
your hand and been recognized by the
teacher.
3. Positive or negative in nature, keep your
hands to yourself.
