 The port of Sabang built by the Government of Dutch
Indies in the year 1881 with main activity of admission
filling of water and coal to steam-ship .
 Before World War II, the port of Sabang was actually
bigger and busier than that of Temasek so named
Singapore.
 In Dutch Indies era, the first mental hospital was built
in Bogor and then Lawang Mental Asylum (1902),
Magelang Asylum (1923) and Sabang Asylum (1927).
Sabang Asylum was the largest mental hospital in
Southeast Asia.
 Jelte Rep, an author Aceh War history, declared that
14,000 Acehnese of 700,000 in total depressed and
became insane because of Aceh War.
 The first version says that loading and unloading
activities in the port occurred at night until dawn
which became people worked at night and slept
during the day. Finally that habit carries over until
now.
 The second version says that a unique activity of the
insane patients walk freely around the city regularly at
1 pm until 4 pm made other people usually prefer to
stay at home and rest until the afternoon in term of
Sabang to be a place of exile for those who
was mentally ill.
 It's still considered a secret spot even amongst the
diving community and Pulau Weh's reefs are genuinely
untouched and offer something for every level of
experience. There are over 18 dive sites around Pulau
Weh, Pulau Rubiah and other surrounding islands.
 The bottom topography ranges from large boulders on
sandy slopes and deep volcanic pinnacles to craggy
wall sections and coral gardens.
