extremely quickly as the man in the
scene is being attacked by two thugs
that have burst into his house with a
baseball bat. The ambient music that
was used before changes to a very
dramatic style of incidental music to
build suspense and drama.
An effective jump cut is used effectively
and the echoing voice of the woman’s
shout suggests the loss of hope for the
viewer. And the diegetic sound of glass
smashing as she is thrown into the
cabinet is used to tell the audience she
isn’t getting up to save anybody.
In this scene, the voices and screams of
the woman are echoed to show the
audience that hope of surviving is slipping
away. Also the music used in this scene is
used on a low-pitched instrument. This
suggests that death is approaching.

effectively to give the audience an idea of
the characters blacking out. Also the
music for low pitch is turned to high
pitched as the pace of the movie quickens
and it builds suspense. The shouting of
the criminals and the sobbing of the
victims add to the suspense.
The sequence ends well as the highpitched music cuts into silence and the
screen cuts to black as the man finally
passes out.

notes, this could mean because
he just broke up with his
girlfriend. Also the texts of the
credits are used in a simple text
font to illustrate the computerbased film.
The long establishing shots are
used to follow Mark as he runs
home in an angry, depressed state.
Also the title of the film is shown
over the scene used in the
‘Facebook’ format to instantly
illustrate what social network the
movie is about. It also takes the
time of this scene to introduce the actors/actresses, directors, producers etc.
The amount of people the same age as
Mark suggests he lives in the school
with his friends. All of the wide shots
seem to be used to introduce the setting
and feel of the film, shows the tall old
buildings, suggesting that the school is
also old and well known.

3. There are a few shots were the
character just runs away from the
character, not showing his face,
suggests more anger and
depression. Although it’s also a
simple scene were someone is
running home with nothing much
going on, not meaning much at all.
But again the music is still getting lower and lower in pitch reinforcing the
feelings that character is feeling. Ore establishing shots are used to get the full
effect of the scene/setting.
A wide shot is used to fit a
person playing or practicing his
violin, this shows more about
the school and the talent of the
people in it as he plays the
violin pretty well, also the
violin works with the music to
add more sadness and
depression to the feel of it. Also the voices of the groups of people in the
background reinforce the school setting.
The scene is quite long of him
running home, this is probably
because of the length of the
journey. He runs home maybe
to do something to take his
mind of the night, or maybe do
some work. In this final scene
he is still running home until
he arrives at the door to the building. This suggests he might have been in a rush
to do something or his anger that is not shown on his face but kind of expressed
in the running home was enough to put him ‘in a rush’.
