Research Plan
As part of your Research Plan, you must draft a research question for your research paper. A research question, which is more specific and focused than a general topic, is the question that you will answer in your paper. For example, if your general area of interest is Social Security, a potential research question might ask, “How might low-income families save more money under a reformed Social Security plan that includes personal retirement accounts?”
As you develop a research question, keep in mind that you will research sources with both supporting and differing viewpoints. Do not select a narrow or one-sided issue that will limit your research; instead, develop a research question that lends itself to further exploration and debate.
What is your topic or area of interest?
Ethics is my topic of interest because people tend to ignore ethics in most of the areas that surround their lives. A person tends to ask what ethics mean and what the purpose in our lives does it play. By definition, ethics are the moral principles that governs a person’s behavior or principles (Moore E, 1995).
In what ways is this topic appropriate for a persuasive essay?
In one way or another, ethics is an appropriate topic to talk about and discuss the positive and negative part. Recently, it has brought very many arguments and different views of different people (William K, 1973).
What is your research question?
My research question is, should ethical values be really followed or not?
How is your research question significant or relevant to the wider community?
In my opinion, ethical values should be followed by most people in the society. It also helps people to stay together in work, public places and interacting in different manners. In the wider community, ethics helps in establishing the hierarchy in working posts, trusting people with each other’s research work and also it builds a basic foundation of friendships and living together. Also in the wider community, it helps in economic growth in a society and the country at large (Benn Piers, 1998).
What background information provides the preliminary grounds for your research?
Background information was used to find out how ethics changed from the origin to the present. From the 16th century to the present, ethics has undergone a steady but gradual change in terms of living and way of living. The constant change has laid a very good foundation in setting a background information for researching about ethics.
What are some expert or authoritative sources of information for your topic?
Books and articles such as (Benn Piers, 1998) and (Moore E, 1995).
What types of materials do you expect to review for your research paper?
I plan to use articles, books, and magazines. Any credible resources that will support my research.
What procedures will you follow to conduct your research?
I will use Appendix C the sta.

In my opinion I should be able to use my annotated
bibliography to learn more about my topic, by reading the
information in each of my sources I found for my research
paper. Each source will tell me about the issues, and what has
been done to resolve them. Also the bibliography will help me
to determine if the sources I have chosen are useful, reliable,
bias, or objective. Writing my annotated bibliography and doing
a summary also helps me to know what and where to insert my
information in my draft. Annotated bibliography will also prove
that I researched some valuable information for my research
paper, also provides a way for my instructor and other readers
to access my sources. Writing an Annotated bibliography help
me to keep track of all research sources I chose to use in my
topic.
