2. A set of ethical principles that governs a
community
It is based on ideals that define what
constitutes honorable behavior within that
community.
The use of an honor code depends on the
notion that community members can be
trusted to act honorably.
3. An Honor Code establishes a fundamental social
contract within which the school community agrees
to live.
This contract relies on the conviction that the
personal and academic integrity of each individual
member strengthens and improves the quality of life
for the entire school.
The Honor Code is vital to the mission of the school,
which is striving to develop a welcoming and
supportive climate.
A sense of mutual trust is critical to achieving such a
community.
4. Your honor will be your guiding force after you
leave SSC.
Through an Honor Code, students and faculty
can enjoy a bond of trust and mutual respect
that shapes all aspects of their academic, social,
and spiritual lives.
Honor is not something SSC can force you to
live. Honor is a choice you make – which is why
you should have a say in what our Honor Code
says.
