A basic requirement of 4 C Grades and above in the IGCSE or equivalent grade 10 international curriculum with
a minimum of a D aggregate would be required to qualify for the Diploma Programme. Similarly, a minimum of
50% aggregate in the CBSE-grade 10 or equivalent National Curriculum would be considered. Having met the
above-mentioned criteria, the next step would be an internal entrance
qualifying test in Mathematics and
English. This is done not to hamper admission but to test the student’s level in the subject area
and fit them into the most suitable level. It is to be mentioned that in no way are the results of these entrance
tests are to be considered as rigid and binding on the future subject levels of the student. Should the
student show a marked improvement within the first few months a change in level would be possible.
Students are encouraged to opt for only those subjects at an HL Level, which they have already appeared for in
their grade 10 examinations. And to opt for an SL level, if the subject is new to them, however, the abovementioned clause of fluidity applies here as well. LIS will support all students who opt for the Self taught
mother tongue in Group A1. The school foresees that Korean, Japanese or Chinese may be an option in this
category according to the constitution of the current student body population. If a student requests for language
A1 that is not automatically available in any of the coming IB examinations, a special request will be submitted
to IB Cardiff before the deadline date i.e.18 months before the written examination for which the language AI
examination is requested. Candidates will also be permitted to offer two languages in A1 and work towards a
bilingual Diploma. All such students will be given the guidance and support as per the instructions sent by IB. It
is the school’s responsibility to ensure that all choices comply with the regulations and instructions in the
Language A1 Guide. The school will also take responsibility for conducting the IB examination for all such
students as per the IB regulations. On first approaching the school for admission to grade 11, prospective
students
and their Parents meet with the Admission Manager to carry out a preliminary
discussion of
administrative matter. On successful completion of the same they are then directed to the office of the
Secondary School Principal/Diploma Programme Coordinator. This is where, students and parents are
advised as to choice and levels of subjects, core components as well as the ideology of the Diploma
Programme. Finally, while advising and selecting the most appropriate choices of subjects for a students, it is to
be kept in mind, a students future plans, if known, to University as well as career choices.
