1. This Unit Plan, to look at, was daunting to say the least. Seeing the
list of things that needed to be completed by the end of the week sure
didn’t put me at ease, but the end result is well worth it. We worked
endlessly the past few days toward creating a Unit Plan and giving it
several different elements of technology, some of which I hadn’t ever came
in contact with. We started on Monday with the creating of a Glogster.
Having never heard of such a thing, it took a little more time than expected
to get all of the information I needed to on there, as well as keep it simple. I
really like the idea of using this in my future classroom because it is not
only creative, but it is easy and could be a good project to assignment that
could be a good indicator of what the students know. Next we learned how
to do a podcast. I have never used a pod cast, but I loved the idea of using
it to add extra information that couldn’t be completed in a days lesson or
giving a portion of information that could be listened to again and again for
reference purposes. Creating a WebQuest proved to be my most difficult
feat. It wasn’t something I had ever experienced as a student and it took a
great deal of time and planning. This wasn’t something that I was able to
just throw together, it made me really plan this lesson day by day, and I
think that was, in the end, very beneficial. The use of social media in the
classroom is something that is virtually in heard of these days, but
incorporating it into group discussions and for the collaboration of ideas is a
very productive idea. Having the benefit of communicating outside the
classroom will be very useful for group work and here for sharing
knowledge on the lessons of that day. I liked this use of technology
2. because it is extremely underrated and rarely done, but it is something that
the students will definitely get into and put to use. The same can be said for
the use of a Blog. I have never created or read blogs before but after
creating this one, and seeing how easy it is, I think I could use it for both
professional and personal purposes. This entire unit plan came together
flawlessly, and I think that I have learned more than I ever expected- not
only about technology used in a classroom, but about myself. I have
confidence and knowledge that I can pass on to others and this gives me a
light towards the educator I hope to become.
