Ramirez y Compañia, whose
headquarters were in
Intramuros.

2. Famous personalities associated with the paper:
1. Isabelo de los Reyes – founder of the Aglipayan Church; worked as a
journalist and later as associate editor of the Diario; wrote several
articles such as “the invasion of Limahong”;
2. Apolonio de la Cruz – one of the 13 martyrs of Bagumbayan,
foreman at the Diario de Manila, hired fellow Katipuneros to work in
printing press (also caused downfall of the paper and capture of the
Mahiganti faction of the Katipunan)
3. Diario de Manila was closed in
1898 when the Colonial
government discovered that
its printing press was also
being used to print
revolutionary materials.
Ang Kalayaan of newspaper of
the Katipunan and edited by
Emilio Jacinto was the
newspaper secretly published
using the printing press of
Diario, without knowledge of
the owner.
