Conventions

1. Hunger Games: Opening sequence and
genre conventions.
The opening sequence of the Hunger Games;
Catching Fire, has many conventions that we also
wanted to display in our opening sequence.
One of the first things to be seen in the opening
sequence is the companies that are involved in the
production of the film. We also decided to do this as it
was important to show who we worked with making
the opening sequence more professional.
The logo and name of the film is the shown in a way
which related to events that happen in the film. We
did this to show our teenage conventions linked to the
mobile phone, making the text our title very cyber.

2. We took many different shot of conventions that
are shown in the house before the murder takes
place in our opening sequence. When doing so,
we then added a name to someone who took some
involvement in the making of the film.
This links to the film theme of the hunger games
and preps the audience for something dark and
twisted, while revealing a name for the audience
to recognise the name being showed, making the
conventions more mysterious.
The establishing shot of the knife from the
opening sequence of the hunger games is very
similar to the shot that is played in our opening
sequence. This shot also displays many of the
curious, twisted and challenged conventions
which we were inspired to display in our opening
sequence.
