Expository Essay : Career And Psychology
Expository Essay
Remembering back we had just come out of the 1950's with straight lace kids to a world of kids
who thought something was wrong with America, rock ' n roll, rebellion. Those were turbulent
times for families with gangs and turf wars. Parents would lead and guide their kids into careers
particularly the medical field as doctors, nurses or lawyers. In some way those were simple times
back then, guiding them and being with them every step of the way, until they were in their
perspective fields and, jobs.

Essay on Courage: Definition and Importance
Courage is a necessity to overcome fears and achieve a desired goal. Fear is something that exists
in all of us. There is no hero or any particular courageous figure that is without fear. Being fearless
is not required to be courageous, one simply has to look past or overcome their fears to possess this
great quality. When overcoming fears and going against the norm, there are always risks involved.
There are different types of risks that come about. Someone could risk life or limb, while others risk
their reputation. Either risk is serious enough that a person must have courage to endure that
particular risk. Courage can occur anytime, anywhere, and often in our everyday lives. Everyone will
experience courage no matter how young,...show more content...
"The agent told me to be sure and keep my people away, as they were very poorly dressed. I did not
do as I was told."(298) Even though it took some time, she eventually overcame her fear and her
feelings of inferiority and stood up to Father Wilbur and the other white men. There are many risks
involved when a person comes in contact with courage. A person's peers or the people close to
them can be highly judgmental, especially if what you are doing clashes with common beliefs or
behaviors. This stands very true when looking at the life of Martin Luther King Jr. His peers were
not only the African American population, but also white upper–class clergymen. In the first line of
Martin Luther King Junior's letter to the clergymen he states that he is "confined here in the
Birmingham City Jail."(303) Dr. King took a great risk of being judged, solely by writing a letter
to his peers. He knew that the clergymen already had their own ideas about him, but he took an
even bigger risk by writing them from his jail cell. Another major risk that people take while being
courageous is risking their life for the lives of others. In "And the Band Played On," Randy Shilts
tells the story of a young female doctor, Grethe Rask, who risked her life because she worked in a
clinic that didn't even provide the "В…basics [such] as sterile rubber gloves or disposable
needles."(330) He goes on to describe even more horrifying details about

The Importance of Homework Essay
Students spend hours doing it, teachers spend hours checking it. Homework is sometimes a burden
to teachers and students but still it is necessary. Some people doubt homework's effectiveness, but
teachers and researchers agree homework is essential. Homework helps students get better grades in
school.
Some people don't know exactly what homework is. Homework is defined as an out of class
activity assigned to students as an extension or elaboration of classroom work(KidSource). There
are three types of homework teachers generally give out. The first is Practice assignments, they are
assignments that reinforce newly acquired skills or knowledge(KidSource). An example of these
assignments is writing definitions down for new words...show more content...
Parents, students, and teachers all sometimes wonder how useful is homework? Though studies
examining the relationship between homework and school achievement have been inclusive(ERIC).
Still many teachers and researchers still agree that homework helps students achieve higher grades in
school. Schools that assigned homework frequently showed higher student achievement than schools
that assigned little homework(ERIC). This means that homework is working. Studies have generally
found that if teachers carefully plan homework, homework can be quite helpful(KidSource).
Homework has proven its effectiveness and is a very powerful factor in student performance.
Students should only spend enough time on homework so that the subject is reinforced and not just
a waste of time. The national PTA suggest that from K–3 grades there should be no more than 20
minutes a day, for 4–6 grades there should be 20–40 minutes of homework, and from 7–12 grades
time varies do to types of subjects and number of subjects taken(KidSource). Anymore than these
recommended amount of times is seen excessive by the national PTA. Surprisingly U.S. students
are working as hard as Asians: 24% of eighth graders do more then two hour of homework
compared to Japans 28% and Germanys 17%(Brimelow108). Are we working to hard, researchers
don't think so, U.S. student grades are improving. As of 1996 one in every sixth grader does more

How to Analyze an Expository Essay
Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a
newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's
main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom,
many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration
patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what
are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create
business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's
finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository...show more content...
"Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise,
organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of
these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or
cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping
motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear
because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent
hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include
any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is
organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in
chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common
mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!"
(Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no
matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining
the purpose of the exposition as a whole. Next, the third step to analyzing an expository essay is to

How Technology Affects Our Lives
Have you ever wondered how much different life would be without the continued study and
advancement in technology? A lot of conveniences that we now know and cannot imagine living
without make our lives easier and more comfortable. Technology is helping the world stay
connected and grow at an alarming rate. Today technology is being used in ways that were not
imaginable thirty to forty years ago. Technology is now being used to make advances in the field
of medicine, fine better ways to produce clean energy, and needless to say it creating a more

Having the advantage of being able to send email long distances helps keep down on the cost of
overpriced long distance calling. Who would have thought sending mail almost instantly would be
possible decades ago. Technology continues to shape our work lives' as well as our personal lives',
and we are seeing the changes of technology on a more rapid pace. The change technology has
bought to society has not only effected the way we communicate, but it also effects the way we
learn. Today learning is made easier, more convenient, and more attainable that ever before. With
tools such as the computers, notebooks, and tablets (desktop and laptop computers) with internet
access and different forms of software, people today have unlimited information at their fingertips at
any given time of the day. Learning never has to stop when technology is only a second a way. An
individual no longer has to spend countless hours at the library to do research, they can simply log
onto the internet. Technology has made and is continuing to make learning more fun to many
individuals, encouraging them to further pursue learning opportunities. Technology not only helps
up learn and make learning more convenient for those of us with busy lives but it also influences the
way we live; and I mean this in the most literal way. Technological advances throughout history have

The Effects of Technology on Students
Change is constant. Though one may not be able to see the change, one can look back through the
course of a year or maybe even a few months and see the change. Technology has transformed with
our culture. There are many benefits for students with the new advancements of technology. Teachers
have seen many of these benefits with the influence of technology on their students. Many students
find a sense of accomplishment when working with technology. Students are now more willing to
write and work on computational skills (Estey). Then students find these tasks appealing and are able
to achieve more. Another area that technology has impacted is the expansion of the learning...show

There are many things needed to create an environment more conducive to learning for each student,
some of which include:
Vision with support and proactive leadership from the educational system.
Educators skilled in the use of technology for learning.
Content standards and curriculum resources.
Student–centered approaches to learning.
Assessment of the effectiveness of technology for learning.
Access to contemporary technologies, software, and telecommunications networks.
Technical assistance for maintaining and using technology resources.
Community partners who provide expertise, support, and real–life interactions.
Ongoing financial support for sustained technology use.
Policies and standards supporting new learning environments.

Physical, human, financial, and policy aspects greatly affect the success of technology use in schools.
Also with the advancements of technology, students are able to communicate with their teachers
outside of the classroom. Students are able to ask questions through e–mail, alleviating confusion in
the class. Through e–mail, students can receive one–on–one attention he or she may not receive in
class due to hesitation that may be caused by other students in the class.
Another benefit technology has on students is preparation for the workplace. Traditional

Essay On Social Pressure
Social Pressure is defined by textbook as "the real or perceived idea that if one deviates from
expected standard group behavior, there will be real, expected, or imagined consequences from other
group members," (Hansen–Horn, 2008, p. 184). On college and university campuses, students are
often unaware of social pressures and the effects that social pressures can have on a student's mental
and physical health. Mid–America University has taken this issue and has created an interactive
program for freshman students not only to inform them, but to also help make wise decisions when
confronted with these pressures. First, the university will research issues that students faces as well
as decisions that they make and why they make them. From...show more content...
To accomplish this, we will first define the target audience and discuss the importance relationship
quality plays in the effectiveness of this program. From here, we will discuss social media platform
and ways to most effectively reach out to students. Finally, we will discuss cognitive and affective
relationship considerations that will be utilized as well as how they will be used.
Target Audiences and Relationship Quality
According to "The American Freshman, The Forty Year Trends," "[b]y 2006, 68.5 percent of
entering students was 18, while the percentage of students 19 and older more than doubled to 29.6
percent," (Pryor, 2007, p. 9). With many students entering college right out of high school and some
taking a gap year, the target audiences for our campaign are first–year college students between the
ages of 17–years–old and 20–years–old. By creating a target audience that spans four years, the
university is considering those that start college at a younger age as well as those that may take a
few gap years before starting their freshman year.
Relationship quality measures that we will use throughout our campaign will be commitment,
communality, trust, and satisfaction, (p.58). Through our campaign objectives we will build on
these four qualities through our campaign objectives:
To build communality, Mid–America University will invite incoming freshman students to like

Reflective Essay
I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to
communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and
convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work
in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the
language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since
everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important
in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and
how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my
writing.
I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years.
When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud
of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I
avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay
was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the
explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended
audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The
intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with
Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience
listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented.
Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task.
To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and
views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and
myself in communicating.
I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when
writing. Having a conversation about aliens

Essay On Hospitality And Tourism Industry
In this world, people are the most important resources for business. This is extremely genuine with
respect to a service–intensive sector, which is Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) industry (Baum,

performance and skills so that the hospitality and tourism industry can reach the level of full
business potential and it is the main factors to underpin the competitive success in this industry
(Baum, 2006).
Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) industry play a significant role in the global economy due to many
countries are increasing open up their borders to join the wave of global integration and the
development of the hospitality and tourism industry has become a source of substantial foreign

industry is a vast group of businesses that provide services to customers. By proving this kind of
service, hospitality and tourism industry should focused on the satisfaction of customers and also

Liberal Arts Education Essay
A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather
prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical
thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a
university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the
humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while
many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life,
as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science
matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be
solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students,
non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world.

To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The
liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the
humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch
beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge
enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the
opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has
much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and
sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more

What is Stress? Essay
Stress is something that affects many people each and every day. Life is full of hassles,
deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For some people stress is so common it is a way of life.
Stress can be very harmful and or helpful. It could help motivate you to meet a deadline and
perform a task under pressure. Stress can also be very harmful, such as memory problems,
moodiness, aches and pains, and eating more or less.
So what is stress? Stress is a normal physical response that happens when you feel threatened or

Stress has many different symptoms the most often and most common is having a headache. On
your body the effects of stress are muscle tension or pain, chest pain, and fatigue. The effects of

stress on your behavior is overeating or under eating, drug or alcohol abuse, and social withdraw.
Since anyone at any age can be stressed there is no certain population that is effected the most. I
would say that teenagers get stressed easily due to school, spots and or jobs. The thing that
stresses most high school student out is picking and choosing what they are going to do after
high school and what college they will be going to if any. People a little bit older after college could
be stressed by trying to find a job or trying to find or support a family. Older people could be stressed
if they are running out of money but besides that older people are probably the least stressful people
in are population.

How to Make Fruit Smoothies Essay
Ever wish there were a delicious smoothie somewhere to buy at an inexpensive price? Well there is,
and there is no need to go out! Read this section on how to make fruit smoothies and make a
scrumptious smoothie.
To make a good smoothie, the materials needed are: about Вѕ cup of juice, or milk, about 2 cups of
fresh or frozen fruits, ВЅ of yogurt, and finally, 6 cubes of ice if the fruits aren't frozen. A blender
that can crush ice well and that has a secure lid is also required. Unlike other recipes, a smoothie
recipe doesn't have to use exact measurements. To have a better tasting smoothie, use frozen fruits.
Freeze fresh fruits, or buy them pre–frozen. If the fruits are too big, cut them in half. Also, peel the

To make the smoothie healthier, include a scoop of whey or soy protein powder. For a sweet
smoothie, use pineapple juice for the liquid. Something creamy? Try milk. Try using different
flavored yogurts and combinations of fruits. Now that all the material is prepared, get cooking!
Gather all the ingredients and put them in the blender. To make things easier, put the fruits first, and
then the milk or the juice. The liquid will help the fruits melt a bit, making it easier to pure. Finally,
add the yogurt. When all the ingredients are in the blender, turn it on, using the liquefy or puree
setting. Depending on the blender, wait about 30 seconds and turn it off so that the fruits will be
mixed up well with the liquid and the yogurt. Make sure to put the cap on the blender and watch out
for the cutter! It hurts if you cut yourself on it.
When the ice cubes stop blending, turn off the blender and see if the smoothie is clear and if there
are no chunks of fruits inside. Get a spoon and move it around in the blender to check. If the
smoothie looks too thin add more fruits or ice and this should thicken it up. If it looks too thick, add
more liquid in it. Adding yogurt or a banana will thicken the smoothie, but don't add both unless
another watery fruit is used in the smoothie.
Once this step is finished, pour the cool concoction into a large glass. For maximum health benefit,
drink the smoothie straight away. If there is too much, then freeze the smoothie. A frozen

You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined
from their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo

writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to
inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository,

Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented
to a jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this
type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade
the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that
being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the
writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With
attempts to get consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in
today's world.

used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles.
This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In

because they also feel the necessity of working to be independent from their parents or whoever is

since some of the campuses in which they study are very small. Also for an international student to

Expository Writing Rough Draft
Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less!
When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified
daycare center with all the rules and regulations specifically designed to restrict as much fun as
possible. Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to
build me up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I
needed to get me through the next four years. Whenever I was bored, I would remind myself that I
'd never have a "free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests,
quizzes, and science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School
was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at
people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't
until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between
how you score on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line
to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed
to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of
esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid
nature.
The current

Those were turbulent times for families with gangs and turf wars. Parents would lead and guide their kids into careers particularly the medical field as doctors, nurses or lawyers. In some way those were simple times back then, guiding them and being with them every step of the way, until they were in their perspective fields and, jobs. • 2. Essay on Courage: Definition and Importance Courage is a necessity to overcome fears and achieve a desired goal. Fear is something that exists in all of us. There is no hero or any particular courageous figure that is without fear. Being fearless is not required to be courageous, one simply has to look past or overcome their fears to possess this great quality. When overcoming fears and going against the norm, there are always risks involved. There are different types of risks that come about. Someone could risk life or limb, while others risk their reputation. Either risk is serious enough that a person must have courage to endure that particular risk. Courage can occur anytime, anywhere, and often in our everyday lives. Everyone will experience courage no matter how young,...show more content... "The agent told me to be sure and keep my people away, as they were very poorly dressed. I did not do as I was told."(298) Even though it took some time, she eventually overcame her fear and her feelings of inferiority and stood up to Father Wilbur and the other white men. There are many risks involved when a person comes in contact with courage. A person's peers or the people close to them can be highly judgmental, especially if what you are doing clashes with common beliefs or behaviors. This stands very true when looking at the life of Martin Luther King Jr. His peers were not only the African American population, but also white upper–class clergymen. In the first line of Martin Luther King Junior's letter to the clergymen he states that he is "confined here in the Birmingham City Jail."(303) Dr. King took a great risk of being judged, solely by writing a letter to his peers. He knew that the clergymen already had their own ideas about him, but he took an even bigger risk by writing them from his jail cell. Another major risk that people take while being courageous is risking their life for the lives of others. In "And the Band Played On," Randy Shilts tells the story of a young female doctor, Grethe Rask, who risked her life because she worked in a clinic that didn't even provide the "В…basics [such] as sterile rubber gloves or disposable needles."(330) He goes on to describe even more horrifying details about Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Importance of Homework Essay Students spend hours doing it, teachers spend hours checking it. Homework is sometimes a burden to teachers and students but still it is necessary. Some people doubt homework's effectiveness, but teachers and researchers agree homework is essential. Homework helps students get better grades in school. Some people don't know exactly what homework is. Homework is defined as an out of class activity assigned to students as an extension or elaboration of classroom work(KidSource). There are three types of homework teachers generally give out. The first is Practice assignments, they are assignments that reinforce newly acquired skills or knowledge(KidSource). An example of these assignments is writing definitions down for new words...show more content... Parents, students, and teachers all sometimes wonder how useful is homework? Though studies examining the relationship between homework and school achievement have been inclusive(ERIC). Still many teachers and researchers still agree that homework helps students achieve higher grades in school. Schools that assigned homework frequently showed higher student achievement than schools that assigned little homework(ERIC). This means that homework is working. Studies have generally found that if teachers carefully plan homework, homework can be quite helpful(KidSource). Homework has proven its effectiveness and is a very powerful factor in student performance. Students should only spend enough time on homework so that the subject is reinforced and not just a waste of time. The national PTA suggest that from K–3 grades there should be no more than 20 minutes a day, for 4–6 grades there should be 20–40 minutes of homework, and from 7–12 grades time varies do to types of subjects and number of subjects taken(KidSource). Anymore than these recommended amount of times is seen excessive by the national PTA. Surprisingly U.S. students are working as hard as Asians: 24% of eighth graders do more then two hour of homework compared to Japans 28% and Germanys 17%(Brimelow108). Are we working to hard, researchers don't think so, U.S. student grades are improving. As of 1996 one in every sixth grader does more than an hour of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. How to Analyze an Expository Essay Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's finances and progress. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no matter what. Essay On Social Pressure Social Pressure is defined by textbook as "the real or perceived idea that if one deviates from expected standard group behavior, there will be real, expected, or imagined consequences from other group members," (Hansen–Horn, 2008, p. 184). On college and university campuses, students are often unaware of social pressures and the effects that social pressures can have on a student's mental and physical health. Target Audiences and Relationship Quality According to "The American Freshman, The Forty Year Trends," "[b]y 2006, 68.5 percent of entering students was 18, while the percentage of students 19 and older more than doubled to 29.6 percent," (Pryor, 2007, p. 9). With many students entering college right out of high school and some taking a gap year, the target audiences for our campaign are first–year college students between the ages of 17–years–old and 20–years–old. By creating a target audience that spans four years, the university is considering those that start college at a younger age as well as those that may take a few gap years before starting their freshman year. Relationship quality measures that we will use throughout our campaign will be commitment, communality, trust, and satisfaction, (p.58). • 9. Reflection Of Expository Writing Erwyn Suruy December 9, 2017 Eng 111 Reflective Essay I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing. I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. • 11. Liberal Arts Education Essay A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students, non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world. ...show more content... To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

School was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between how you score on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid nature. The current Get more content on HelpWriting.net
