  3. 3. What is a “Citizen”?<br />Def: Citizen<br />One who receives the rights and privileges as a member of a particular city, state or country.<br />Senior Citizen<br />
  4. 4. What are “Rights”?<br />Rights: That which is due to you, legally and morally, as a citizen of a particular country.<br />Democracy: Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.<br />
  5. 5. What are “Responsibilities”?<br />Responsibilities: the duty and obligation as a member of a society. <br />
  6. 6. “Juicy” “Fat” Questions<br />-What responsibility do all the people in this boat have?<br />-What happens when some don’t live up to their responsibilities?<br />What happens when people of a society want just the rights but don’t live up to the responsibilities?<br />
  7. 7. Rights and Responsibilities<br />Summary: Rights are what you receive from society and responsibilities are what you give back to society. It is a balancing act. <br />

Share with your teammates/ partner what rights and responsibilities you have.<br />2nd Share with your teammates/ partner what rights and responsibilities you had in common, and which you had that were different.<br />3rd. As a class what were the top 3 common rights and the top 3 responsibilities<br />
