  • 2. Library service? • Joint 1st in THE Student Satisfaction Survey for Library provision • 92% satisfaction in NSS BUT • LibQual 2016 survey shows difference between staff and student satisfaction, particularly researchers.
  • 3. LibQual 2016 • A library web site enabling me to locate information on my own • The electronic information resource that I need • Easy-to-use access tools that allow me to find things on my own • Print and/or electronic journal collections I require for my work • Quiet space for individual work
  • 4. Modern Research Libraries • Many different services • A fragmented userbase • Many different relationships • Varying media of engagement • Varying expectations • Different levels of service?

  • 6. Exercise 1 List the services you provide
  • 7. Brand Library? • Not just campaigns/promotions • Not just marketing messages • Not just logos • Not just a motto - It is how people perceive you and conceive of you. Your value, your purpose, NOT your functions.
  • 8. Exercise 2 For each service listed in exercise 1: Use 1 or 2 descriptive words that users would attribute to that service.
  • 9. What use is a brand? Manages expectations of users Helps to develop relationships Works for you when you are not there Drives your communications Generates goodwill – free PR Protects you Reinforces your value
