The Collage 743, 744, 763 and 764 ATM
interface modules provide the physical
interface ports for connecting the Collage
740 Backbone ATM switch to other ATM
devices and networks. Each module
provides four ports of 155 Mbps ATM
connectivity using either Multimode Fiber
(MMF), Single Mode Fiber (SMF) or
Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) as the
physical transmission medium.

The ATM interface modules work with the
Collage 740 Backbone ATM switch to
deliver advanced functionality including:
. Per VC statistics gathering
. Traffic management
. ABR cell re-routing
. Peak Cell Rate traffic shaping

Each ATM interface module supports hot
swap and hot insertion to minimize network
down time and add to the fault tolerance
capabilities of the Collage 740.

COLLAGE 743 4 POR T 155 MBPS MMF MODULE
With a range of over 2 km on multimode
fibre, the Collage 743 is ideal for
interconnecting ATM switches and for
connecting access switches and high
performance servers or workstations to the
ATM network.

The UTP module is designed to use low
cost shielded or unshielded category 5
cabling. With ranges of up to 100m, this
module would typically be used for 155
Mbps ATM to the desktop over existing
cabling or for low cost server connections.
COLLAGE 763 4 PORT 155 MBPS SMF MODULE
The Single Mode Fiber module will
normally be used where a longer reach is
required. The range of 15 km makes it ideal
for high speed campus links or for
connecting to a public ATM WAN service.
