2. For the production company distributor i first looked at the most popular ones such as
DreamWorks and Paramount. These would be outside my budget and they also
distribute many genres of film. Next using bfi.org i looked at British film companies
and some independent companies which are much smaller and are within my budget
range, these included Vertigo films, Slingshot films, Trinity films and Momentum.
3. From researching into the British film companies I was able to see what types of film they
distribute and decided whether they are suitable for my film production. Looking at
Vertigo films I found that they have distributed a lot of successful horror/thriller films,
because of this I thought that they should be the company who would distribute my
production ‘Final Victim’. Others such as Slingshot films and Trinity films have distributed
some thriller films but mainly focus in comedies or other genres so i didn’t pick them. From
researching Momentum pictures I found that they are a well-funded company and would
be well out of my budget range but one of their main genres is horror/thrillers.
Compared to the bigger institutions such as DreamWorks, the smaller independent British
companies would be more suitable to my target audience because of their characteristics
and knowledge of film companies. They also specialize in more animated films which
would be under the age of my target market. In our production I created my own
production company logos; Scream works and red studio production.
