1. The Culture Clash (2015)

2. Starts with Olamide and Father
sleeping. The Mother wakes up the
Father to let him know that
Olamide is sleeping.

3. Olamide being questioned about
college work which shortly
follows a lecture from his
father. Father demands
Olamide to complete his
college work by tonight.
Olamide showing signs of
annoyance and stress whilst
Father is barking at him.

4. Shamica arrives and
Olamide’s parent’s
house

5. Mother and Father are seen to be
preparing for the arrival of
Olamide’s girlfriend, Shamica.
Father has too fix his glasses
showing his preparation for the
arrival of his son’s girlfriend
Mother rearranges herself and
fixes her glasses, again, to show
the preparation for her son’s
girlfriend’s arrival.

6. Olamide introduces his girlfriend to
his parents. Father welcomes
Shamica to the house.

7. Father asks her lots of questions
regarding her college institution and
Nationality. He agrees with his wife
(Mother) that “Shamica” is not a
African name which then leads up to
Shamica saying she’s Jamaican. After
the persistent questions,The Father
explains to Shamica that they are
about to pray before they eat.

8. The family, and Shamica are now about to
pray at the table. All phones are put on
the table as requested by the Father.

9. Explicit Jamaican music starts to play
from Shamica’s phone.
She answers the phone while in a
prayer. (Showing disrespect
towards the family)

10. The parents disappoint
and shock is clearly
shown as the prayer
before dinner is rudely
interrupted by vulgar
Jamaican music.
