The Structure
• Exposition – Olamide, Father and his Mother joined together at the dinner table. Olamide and his father are caught
snoozing off round the table by the Mother so she instantly wakes up the father and warns him that Olamide is
snoozing around the table. As Olamide is woken up by his Father, his father reminds him about revising for his courses
and college. However, after the conversation about college, Olamide breaks the news with his parents that he has a
female friend coming over for dinner with the family which raises eyebrows around the table.
• Rising Action – As Olamide finishes telling his parents about the girl coming, the doorbell rings but as he goes to open
the door he begs his parents to be easy. Olamide opens the door and introduces his girlfriend Shamica to his parents.
Olamide’s parents welcome Shamica and familiarise themselves with her.
• Climax –Everyone gathers to say a prayer before dinner, however, Shamica’s phone unexpectedly rings and Olamide’s
parents react dramatically to Shamica’s inappropriate ringtone (Jamaican music). This is emphasised with the slow
motion effect (which can be seen in the video).
• Falling Action* – N/A
• Denouement* – N/A
• *In our short film there was no Falling Action or Denouement because the story ending on a heated cliff-hanger which
was at the climax. We decided to end on a climax to keep the tension at a high, to keep the audience wanting more.
