    Present Perfect Simple vs. Past
●

●
                Simple
● *Present Perfect Simple
●

● The present perfect simple expresses an action that is still going on or that stopped
recently, but has an influence on the present. It puts emphasis on the result.
●

● Form of Present Perfect
● I/ you/ we/ they
● He / she/ it
                                         ●

                                         ●

●
Positive Negative Question
I have eaten an ice-cream. I have not eaten an ice-cream. Have I eaten an ice-cream?
He has eaten an ice-cream. He has not eaten an ice-cream. Has he eaten an ice-cream?

For irregular verbs, use the participle form, and for regular verbs, just add “ed”.

Use of Present Perfect Simple:
- puts emphasis on the result: He had written one letter to his mother.
- action that stopped recently: My mother has baked a cake.
- action that has taken place once, never or several times before the moment of speaking: I have never
seen a monster.
*Simple past

We use Past Simple to talk about actions that happened at a specific time in the past. The
actions can be short or long. There can be a few actions happening one after another.

Form: VB + ed, or irregular verb.

                          1. Past actions that are now finished.

eg. He cut his finger last month
