Amoeba is a unicellular freshwater protozoan that gathers its food using pseudopodia. It digests food intracellularly within food vacuoles in its cytoplasm. Amoeba engulfs algae, bacteria, and small protozoa using pseudopodia, forming a food vacuole that then fuses with lysosomes containing enzymes to digest the food into nutrients, which are absorbed into the cytoplasm, while waste is excreted.
