revenues had only increased by about 2 percent, and a
$2.4 billion net profit in the fiscal year ending in
February 2013 turned into a $1.2 billion loss in January
2015.
• Dell was still selling computers, but computers alone just
weren’t enough for the company to survive.

Dell has lost its No.1 position in the worldwide PC market in the Q4
of 2006In the third and fourth quarters of 2006, Dell’s worldwide
market share percentage declined from 17.2% in Q3 to 13.9% in Q4.
As a result, HP with 17.4% in Q4 has become the biggest PC seller in
the world and Dell has lost the position which it had maintained
since 2003. However, for the whole sales of 2006, Dell managed to
keep its No.1 position, which the percentage of market share of Dell
and HP was 17.1% and 17% respectively.

How it effects Dell
• DELL, literally has no market shares in tablet and smartphone
segment. It solely depend in laptops and desktops in consumer
market for its revenue.
• Due to decline in PC sales, Dell profits plunged by 47% in 2012.
• The much hyped window 8 didn’t play any part in increasing PC
sales.
