Dynamics of Destructive Polarisation in Mainstream and Social Media: The Case...
Conservative Party - Political Campaign
1. Political Party
David Cameron, Leader Of The Conservative Party
What type of Campaign is this?
This is a political campaign which tries to get the people of Britain on site so
that they are always aware of what needs improving so that they are always
successful and more people are voting to keep them. They promise to make
massive changes to; Society, Business, Politics, Climate change and Energy,
Crime, culture media and sport, defense, economy, Environment, Europe,
Families, Foreign Affairs, Health, Immigration, International Development, Jobs
and welfare, Justice, Local Government, National Security, Pension and
Older People, School, Transport, Universities and Skills, Women and Equality
and much more. The conservatives have been around since 1834 until today,
this party is the largest political party in the UK as they are very popular.
Target audience of this campaign?
The target audience of this campaign is anyone at the age of 18 and over,
the reason for this is because 18 is considered as a matured adult who can
make the right choices, however they are encouraging other young people
below the age of 18 to get involved in political so that their voices are also
heard. This campaign aim at groups of people such as; couples, families,
elderly people, young people, individuals and much more. They want many
people to vote as they believe that the more votes they get the better their
understanding of the people in the UK would be.
Strategy of this campaign and methods used to reach target
audience?
The Conservative Part is launching a new recruitment programme for
Campaign Mangers to work across the UK. Successful applicants would be
working in key parliamentary seats to manage the Conservative Campaign
up until the next General Election in 2015
Each position summary would include;
Campaign Managers would be responsible for implementing the national
Conservative Party Campaign Strategy in their areas
Campaign Managers would be in charge of formulating a winning
campaign plan for their candidate that connects them with local voters,
and promotes the key messages of the Conservative Party
Campaign Managers would need to manage a campaign budget
2. Campaign Managers would have to determine where to target limited
resources
Campaign Managers would be able to work as part of a team
Campaign Managers would manage all aspects of the campaign -
finance, local press, field, research, new media, and legal/compliance
And the methods they would carry out to reach their target audience would
be;
Planning a comprehensive programme of fundraising events
Voter contact operations
Volunteer recruitment
Managing volunteer phone banks and door-to-door canvassing
Meetings with community groups to build bridges through Social Action
and the Big Society
Ensuring that the candidate/MP maintains a high profile
Generating candidate-scheduling opportunities
Managing postal vote recruitment and Get Out The Vote campaigns
Motivating people to vote and volunteer
Organising political meetings and events
Executing Election Day operations
All this work is focused on building a well-organized and efficient
grassroots operation for Election Day
Success of this campaign in achieving its aim?
The successes of this campaign is very high as the Conservatives at the most
well known campaign across the UK have been around for 178 years and are
still up running. This campaign is very successful as David Cameron is now the
government of this country, which means he can make any changes in the
UK. Through this we can understand that many people voted for the
conservatives to run this country.
Three different types of techniques used in this campaign
The campaign has used many different types of campaigns, however I am
going to go through the three main techniques which I think is the most
important technique used. Technique number one, the conservatives have
their own official website where they give a lot of information about the
different types of policy changes in the UK, they also have different tabs
which would take you to different areas of the website and gives you much
more information on the campaign and why it is being run. The website of this
campaign looks very much suitable for its target audience through the use of
3. colours. They also have many videos based on this campaign, this is because
not everyone likes to read so instead they might want to watch a video and
get a board understanding of the campaign and any further changes in the
UK.
The second technique which they use is speeches made by this campaign,
most of the important speeches are made by David Cameron and those
which are seen as less important are made by other people within the
organisation of this political campaign. Through the speeches made by the
David Cameron grabs the listeners attention as he would use world like “you”
or “us” when using these types of words the listener is engaged and it would
also affect them if there were any changes being made. Speeches are very
powerful as they get to be heard by millions and millions of people, especially
if they are political speeches and also they would get displayed on new
channels and other website.
The last techniques which I am going to go through with you are the poster
techniques. Yes posters are very important as they get displayed all over the
country when it comes to voting for a party, in this case the Conservative
Party. There have been many posters in favour of the conservatives and one
thing all the posters have had in common were the colours used, the layout,
logo and the it also consisted of one image – David Cameron’s image on the
posters so that the conservatives were recognised by many people and that
they were aware of who was running this campaign. The conservative
campaigns were all over the country, this is because they wanted their party
to be in everyone’s faces and to look popular to highlight that people do
actually want to vote for them.
