1. 1) In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. For my media production I had to make sure
that picked a suitable film distributer so it
meets the requirements of a real social
realism films codes and conventions. I have
chosen IFC films productions as they have
previously made social realism films in the
past for example Fish tank and Boyhood. By
making sure I use this film distributor I
believe that my film uses real productions as
it is well known from not just around the UK
but global as well. It is important to show
this by placing the logo at the beginning of
the trailer so it recognisable and that most
films trailers have placed it
3. When creating my media product I
had to make sure that I was able to
conduct research into a variety of
different social realism films, the key
significance with all trailers is the
location; all social realism film
trailers use low-working class estates
and location giving the films a more
realistic representation of social
realism. I have ensured that I was
able to adapt this implication into
my own project. By ensuring that I
used a working class surrounding I
have conformed to the codes and
conventions of real media products.
4. Here it shows the location of an ally way as
most social realism films have more of
rough looking area as it would make the film
seem more realistic. Looking at this shot the
character in the hoodie looks more
suspicious and secretive as they are walking
down an ally way behind the man looking to
make some type movement for example
stealing or stabbing. Hoodies all in black are
mostly linked with youths and teens I have
made sure that I was to implication to my
own production as you know most British
social realism films have scenes with key low
locations
With my film trailer it doesn’t only include
scenes from low key backgrounds it also has
locations like schools. When researching
into social realism films there was a contrast
between working class background and
non-working class backgrounds.
5. Background music is an important in a film trailer
as it is an important key and can help tell the story
of it. It is known for most film trailers to use fast
and up-beat music as it suits the trailers best due
to the target audience it’s aimed at, keeping this in
mind I have followed the codes and conventions to
have fast paced music for the trailer as it describes
what’s going in the trailer and the audience can
create their own perspective on the production
piece. The song I chose for the trailer is “Monster”
by Professor Green as he links in with social
realism due to some of his songs/ lyrics.
Throughout the song the lyrics talk about how all
heartless things and how to turn into this heartless
person but in an up based and rapping way. The
target audience for my film is similar to the artist
as he British and from looking some of his music
videos has the same genre as my film
6. Having names of other
successful films on my trailer
would make the viewer want to
watch this film because they are
familiar with the genre of films
and kind of have an idea of an
idea on what to aspect, As well
as this as this film is a social
realism the audience
automatically aware that my
trailer is also social realism.
Having the next in white with
the red outline makes the text
stand out from the black
background.
