Ethics and Laws Governing Pharmacists
Introduction Interestingly enough, the United States "has the most expensive healthcare system in
the world, [yet] 47 million Americans have no health insurance. Healthcare is the country's largest
economic sector"¦. Four times larger than national defense"¦ yet millions cannot afford to take care
of their health needs" (Farrell, 2009, 1). If we combine this issue with the litigious nature of 21st
century American culture, we can easily see how health professionals often have a difficult time
with their ability to provide quality care and remaining mindful of their legal, moral, ethical, and
social responsibilities. This paradigm directly affects almost every aspect of the health care world:
physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, specialists, technicians, pharmacists, and even support
personnel. Each aspect of the healthcare world has different, yet similar, issues that are defined by
their individual state boards, their particular specialty's moral and legal code, and national and state
legislation. One of the medical professionals that is often neglected in major discussions about
medical liability and ethics is the pharmacist. Many people think that the modern pharmacist needs
little training because everything is computerized; cross–checked, and requires little in the way of
personalized, or intellectual, expertise. Nothing could be further from the actual truth, and the
dilemma faced in the increasingly competitive world of pharmacy sales means that many

Coaching: A Simple Formal Governing Contract
A formal coaching contract is an important instrument for both coach and employee and really
serves two purposes. Firstly it sets ground rules for the coach/coachee relationship so that both
parties know their obligations. Secondly it can keep the liabilities of the coach to a minimum. A
simple formal contract/agreement gives both parties peace of mind! This simple, formal contract
also demonstrates that the coach is professional in their attitude towards the role and the employee
they are coaching and can also assist in keeping professional objectivity in what at times can
become quite an intimate situation. A simple formal contract main contain the following, A

The loving hearts in people will start to hurt because of the way things are set up and functioning in

conduct for government officials. Over time many modifications have been made that differ from
the constitutional founders' intent. Both Democratic and Republican parties are said to be the blame
for this due to their difference in beliefs and values.
At length, 225 years ago, on September 17, 1787, the delegates of the Constitutional Convention

Review of UKSports Anti-Doping Policy Essay
"The two major justifications for the ban on the use of performance–enhancing drugs in sport relate
to the protection of the health of athletes, and the maintenance of fair competition"
(Black, 1996; as cited by Waddington, 2000)
The main objective of the U.K. Statement of the Anti–doping Policy stems from this. The aim is to
ensure that the various governing bodies of sport in the United Kingdom have consistent and regular
sets of policies and regulations in order to "protect the rights of athletes to compete drug–free" (U.K.
Statement of Anti–doping Policy). This policy, (January 2002) published by U.K. Sport, was
considered "a major landmark in the fight for drug–free sport". It was an attempt to set standards in

UK Sport's role is also clearly defined in the policy. UK Sport will have to agree an annual anti–
doping programme, consisting of testing (where appropriate), education and information, with the
Governing Bodies and also assist with its delivery. They will have to guarantee the confidentiality of
information arising from programmes except where it is required, in order to provide transparency
and accountability for public funding and the integrity of the testing programme. UK Sport will also
report to the designated official, within the Governing Body, both negative and positive test
outcomes, within an agreed timeframe. Again, they will assist, as required, with the provision of
information to the review, investigative hearing or appeal panels. Training workshops will be
provided for Governing Bodies, on operational and legal issues. Governing Bodies will also have to
be supported with advice and guidance, from the Anti–Doping Programme, team to achieve
programme delivery arising from the policy. Supporting, independent advice on complex scientific
or medical issues will also be provided by UK Sport, who will also promote an independent dispute
resolution system for sport. Finally, UK Sport will have to continue independent, high quality
collection services, as well as assisting Governing Bodies with the monitoring and reporting of
results.
Furthermore, according to the policy, Sports Councils have the power to withdraw funding from
athletes who have come

Governing Aortic Pressure
Governing Physiology
In order to provide as accurate a test as possible, care must be taken to model our system after
human physiologic conditions. There are many variables at play near the aortic valve we must
consider when making our tester. The most obvious physiology we have to model is pressure. A
successful heart valve must be one that can reliably handle the pressures found in the body. Average
blood pressure for a healthy adult male when measured with a cuff is 80/120 mmHg where two
numbers are given for minimum and maximum pressures. However, pressure measured with a cuff
is different than aortic pressure5. At max pressure, the difference can by as by as much as 20 mmHG
for systole5. This is due to the higher elasticity of the aorta. We ust keep that in mind if hoping to
get accurate pressure found at an aortic valve. Minimum pressures ... Show more content on

The pump "Siphon–Mate 35–109PC Transfer Pump for Liquid" can pump 0.12L of liquid per
stroke, and has a outer diameter of 1"8. In order to create a flow rate of 0.233L/s with this pump,
one has to pump one full stroke in: 0.12L / (0.233L/s) = 0.51s. This means one must do a full pump
about twice per second to test whether the heart valve can withstand the maximum flow rate through
aorta. According to the product description, this pump is "a combination displacement lift pump and
siphon pump with valves suitable for transferring fuel."8 So the pump itself contains a valve that
prevents backflow.
Tubing: To house the heart valves, 1" inner diameter braided vinyl tubing was used. The tubing fit
well into the PVC T–junctions and are approximately equal in size to a human aorta.

A Woman Governing Over Texas
No one would had imagined a woman governing over Texas, a state ruled by conservative white
cowboys. Ann Richards was the second woman to become the Lieutenant Governor of Texas in
1990. She became the hero of minorities, woman, gay men, and lesbians, and worked for a "New
Texas" where opportunities and power would be given to those groups. Ann Richards is known as
the most efficient person in a line of long Texas progressives who fought for control over Texas
when the state was a "Democratic Stronghold". Her loss against Gorge W. Bush after her first term
as governor, was a strong indication that the generations of Democrats ruling Texas had ended.
Before Ann Richards made a career in politics, she had a career as a mother and wife. Ann was born
in Waco, Texas on September 1 of 1933. Waco back then was segregated, had strong religious ideas,
and its people where known as being strict conservatives. Ann met her future husband in 1949 when
Ann and David where on their senior year in Waco High. Once they graduated high school in 1950,
Ann wanted to leave Waco and follow David to Austin where David was studying to become a
lawyer at the University of Texas. Ann's mother, Eleanor, didn't seem that it was a good idea for her

The Idea of Li and Governing Essay
Li, or rites, has played an integral part in shaping early Chinese philosophy, though not all
philosophers have agreed on its meaning or reason for application. Some will argue that human
nature requires us to us Li to be ethical beings, while others believe that Li will teach and mold us
into beings that will follow the norms of our society. The three major Confucian philosophers whom
used the idea of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. All three of these
philosophers used Li to shape their ideal government, but it was Xunzi who would have the most
applicable form of an ideal government. Confucius was alive and teaching during the Spring and
Autumn period. The power of the Zhou king was on the decline and the ... Show more content on

Looking back at the social norm of a man holding a door open, even though there is no direct
punishment for not holding the door open, a man will naturally feel a sense of shame when not
adhering to the social ritual that is ascribed to a man. He wanted men to do the right thing not out of
fear, but out of shame. This would lead the common folk to follow the Li and become gentlemen in
their own right. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the
society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance.
Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them "sage kings" and
praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused "peace and
security to their fellow man" (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius's teachings,
viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the
discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst
themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could
alleviate it. Mencius had a nearly identical description of Li as Confucius, yet his Li was largely tied
in with human nature and the internal struggle to be a moral person. Li was just one of the

California Governing Crisis
In 2008 California was faced with a huge budget crisis and governing crisis as the state governing
was not nearly as efficient enough to respond to changes and problems that were happening in the
state. This was due to a lot of poor laws that related to taxation and to the way our state government
worked. There is also unique differences with California than other states, like our direct democracy
system, and many of our laws are compromises that don't work well between liberal and
conservative ideologies. Our politicians are also not well motivated to serve the people and would
rather server their own special interests that benefit their own career. While there are still a lot of
problems that California needs to deal with, we did make adjustments ... Show more content on

The first is to lose the direct democracy system California has had in place. The intention was to
prevent special interests but it has been proven ineffective as most voters don't have the time to look
over complex bills. Also as Van Vecthen notes our ballot initiative system is getting over swamped
with bills that can be confusing and distracting. This year there was a bill to both keep and repeal the
death penalty and that level of nuance can be confusing to a voter who isn't paying attention to every
little detail. These can also raise issues that are not that important in the grand scheme of things like
for example, this year we had a bill to regulate condom use in pornography. The biggest problem I
see though with the direct democracy system is that it does not hold politicians accountable enough.
If we have a say in the system, when things go wrong politicians instead of blaming their own
policies can now blame ballot initiative policies. Overall I think the negatives and positives of a
representative democracy will still outweigh those of the direct democracy system. Using the
California budget challenge I choose what I'd call a quasi–socialist future for California. While I'd
still support much of free trade as it is necessary to generate capital my plan focuses on fixing
archaic and broken tax laws, and spending a ton on social services like education. The taxes I would

L.0.2 – Barriers to participation–Mr. Davies. Introduction.
In sport we have to take in a range of different performers, who come from various different
backgrounds cultures and beliefs, each of these has its own demands and regulations for
participation in sport and so it is the job of different organisations and sporting parties to overcome
this, finding ways to include and allow everyone to participate in sport.
The sports Development / Performance pyramid is an explanation of how participation and ability
can be measured in sport. It helps to highlight the route a performer can take to become an elite
performer. It includes four different sections;

Fair And Equitable Governing Mean In A Democracy?
What does "fair and equitable" governing mean in a democracy? To really fathom this question, we
must first break it down. First, what is a democracy? A democracy is a form of a government system
in which the population votes for their leaders and have impartial lives. Now, what is governing?
Governing is the act of guiding or directing someone or something. Finally, let's discuss the
meanings of the words fair and equitable. Fair and equitable mean equal.
What is next? Duh.... answering the question. In order to govern, you must follow the principles of
the government system that is currently being used(in this case democracy.) One of the most basic
principles of a democracy is equality. You have to govern in a nonpartisan manner or the population

The Hare Krishna Movement: Immigration And Naturalization...
INTRODUCTION
The 1960s saw the rise of a disproportionately large number of new religious movements (NRMs) in
America. Many of these movements were rooted in existing faiths, from Judaism to evangelical
Christianity to Buddhism, and were often populated by members of the emergent American
counterculture. Concurrently, the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 was being passed into
law, which lifted many restrictions on immigration to the United States and prompted a new influx
of skilled laborers from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Over the following years and decades,
these immigrants began to occupy a prominent role in the American religious landscape, including
many NRMs. With these events in mind, this essay seeks to situate the Hare Krishna movement–a
successful Hindu–based NRM also known as ISKCON, or the International Society for Krishna
Consciousness–in the context of immigration and the counterculture at large. Unlike other Hindu
NRMs, ISKCON utilizes contemporary English translations of Hindu scriptures and represents a
decidedly Western expansion of several Hindu traditions.

Purpose of the Declaration of Independence
Rights of the People
A democracy is a system of government controlled by the people, not by one certain group or
individual. In the Declaration of Independence it states that "all men are created equal," an idea
which leads to the concept that all citizens should have the same rights, responsibilities, and
influence in the governing of their country. In writing the Declaration of Independence Thomas
Jefferson was trying to break his ties with the harsh and non–democratic rule of the British and
begin a new, equal society and government for America.
Democracy is defined as "A system of government in which ultimate political authority is vested in
the People." The Declaration's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that it was time for America to break away from Britain's rule and become its own
nation, which could govern itself. To do this, though, it was necessary to write some sort of
document which would state to the world the basic beliefs on which the nation's new government
would be built. This document was the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson felt that Britain was
doing nothing but hurting America with unfair rules and all sorts of ridiculous taxes. The colonies
and colonists had no rights in determining the very laws which dictated the way they led their lives.
The Declaration of Independence was a formal document stating that the people of America were
breaking away from Britain and that the American colonies were now "Free and Independent
States."
The Declaration of Independence was the cornerstone of American freedom and equality. By writing
this document, the American Colonies could now begin the process of starting a new way of life and
a new government. Obviously, at the time the Declaration of Independence was written the concept
of "equality" was more limited than it is today. Certainly, all members of colonial America did not
share equal status. However the concepts of the Declaration of Independence have evolved more

Ruling And Governing During The French Revolution
Ruling and governing both have something bad when it comes to taking care of a nation, but both
have an up side too. Ruling is a hierarchical system. There is usually one main person in power who
elects people to rule over territories or a certain area in their stead if their kingdom is big enough.
When the French Revolution started the ruler was King Louis XVI. He was the final judgment call,
he was the irrefutably the king of France. Most of the time rulers would get their position through
their bloodline, and to keep their bloodline pure they would often marry other people in the

Key Legislation Governing Special Education
Key Legislation Governing Special Education The three key legislations governing special
education that affect special education are the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Section 504
of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Americans with Disabilities Act. These legislations work
together to protect people with disabilities. The Individuals with Disabilities Act is a federal law that

Act there are six principle that guarantee the rights of the student with the disability and their
parents. The principles are zero reject, free appropriate public education, least restrictive
environment, nondiscriminatory evaluation, parent and family right to confidentiality, and
procedural safeguards. Zero reject states that public education is entitled to all students with
disabilities, and the severity of the disability does not affect this. Free Appropriate Public Education
(FAPE), makes sure that the public education that the student receives is free, and a parent or other
family member is not asked to pay for their education. A student's least restrictive environment is
how they receive their education, and this means that the student with disability is educated is a

As a representative for the Constitution, Edward Randolph presented the Virginia Plan for creating a
new and strong government. The Virginia Plan introduced a powerful central government composed
of three branches, legislative, executive, and judicial, and enabled the legislative to veto state laws
and use force against states that failed to fulfill their duties (The liberty of congress, 2006). After
many discussions about the issues, including striking the section authorizing force against a state,
the Virginia Plan became in excessive part the basis of the Constitution (The liberty of congress,
2006). The difference between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution was that The
Articles of Confederation issued a powerless central government and The Constitution developed a

The Current Governing Schools Of Thought For Nations
The early 21st century, in all of its rising cultural globality, is the first period of stagnating economic
and political globalization since the end of the Second World War. The world has become more
closely knit as a single cultural entity due to the rise of social media, the expansion of transnational
business, and the strengthening of the internet as an equal ground for all people. Cooperative
cultural events such as Olympic competitions, FIFA World Cups and even international eSport
competitions have brought individuals within nations closer together, benefiting transnational
corporations, while nations themselves have become more politically and economically divided. The
current governing schools of thought for nations are a reaction to the fading power of the nation
states as the dominant entity of international politics.
The three schools of international political economics, liberalism, nationalism, and marxism, all
appear in national policies around the world from liberal blocs of free market economies like the
European Union to isolationist policies practiced by nations like North Korea which is related to the
"benign" mercantilism of economic nationalism (Gilpin, 1987). Liberal policies favor idealized
conditions for markets, and economies in general, which results in cooperative policies relating to
international trade such as the establishment of free markets and the reduction of trade barriers. The
driving idea behind the liberal school of thought is the

The Governing Board 's Role
Governing Board's Role The governing boards role is very important when it comes to discussing
what is happening within a healthcare organization and making sure things are been done to their
ethical standards. The primary role of governing boards is to make sure that the mission statement
includes things that are needed from the public and to make sure that those people hired for this
company are able to uphold to the ethnical code that is given by the healthcare organization. When
issues arise within the organization, it is left up to the governing board themselves and the CEO to

"The board's duty of assuring that there is an effective strategy process has to go well beyond
requiring and overseeing the periodic production of a strategic plan" (Morrill, 2013, pg. 14). Every

there is no steps left out of the final decision and that things are handled in the proper manner.
Overall, the governing board has a great responsibility along with the CEO when it comes to
handling things in an ethical manner. Key Performance Dimensions In order to make sure the
healthcare organization is doing everything to provide the best care for their patients and that the
facility is doing everything that they can to ensure that, some type of performance measurements
need to be used. "Performance measurement systems employed in healthcare must be capable of not
only meeting expectations of different stakeholder, but also of giving the most realistic image of the
status and the progress that are being made to the system" (Doolen, Enami, 2015, pg. 427). By using
performance measurements, the facility can see what they are doing wrong and in what ways they
can improve service the patients next visit to ensure their voice was heard by the facility. The three

Iroquois Method Of Governing Analysis
Iroquois method of governing rests on the inclusion of every voice in the tribe into every decision.
Every decision, therefore, is preceded by a lengthy public discussion, which must result in
consensus. If one cannot be reached yet, the issue is dismissed until it becomes topical again. Secret
discussions or making important decisions in a hurry are unacceptable. Unanimous agreement
between tribe members ensures that decisions are willingly fulfilled by people who have agreed that
they are needed. This approach can prevent the need to enforce decisions and, thus, render executive
governing branches redundant. Indian chiefs are appointed to be guides in a area of life, in which
they are experts. If a tribe member is competent in a certain realm,

Governing Ignorance
Ignorance is bliss James Madison, founding father, and former president once said "Knowledge will
forever govern ignorance: and a people who mean to be their own governors, must arm themselves

Therefore, education will forever govern ignorance, and whoever be their own governor. And to
"arm themselves with the power of knowledge gives." Means to practice whatever it is you want to
succeed in, and then you can govern one's life and be your own speech. Knowledge is the state of
awareness or understanding gained from experience or study and learning specific information about

The State Of California Governing Bodies Essay
The State of California Governing Bodies The California Postsecondary Education Commission was
granted puissant duties and powers in 1974, after replacing the Coordinating Council for Higher
Education (Education Commission of the States, 2016). The commission does not serve as a
governing board but as an advisory committee to the House of Representatives, governor, and
higher education institutions, with matters paramount to education policies (Education Commission
of States, 2016). The commission holds the authority to review state public and private higher
education institutions financial records, budgets, academic programs and provide recommendations
for campus expansions. However, the primary function of the commission is to coordinate practices
that prevent redundancy within the education divisions (Education Commission of States, 2016).
The focus of the commission is driven by the state's strategic work plan, for which goals are
established targeting institutional areas of concern. Members of the commission constitutes 16
people, 9 in which are selected by the public, 3 appointed by the governor, 3 by the Senate Rules
Committee and 3 by the California Assembly speaker (Education Commission of States, 2016). A

The development of anything takes time, be it a child or a global governing body. There is an
erroneous assumption in the world that the concept of the European Union, the idea of having a
shared currency, and borderless pan–European continent is new. However, the pan–European
identity present in Modern Europe took time to establish, especially after the continent was
devastated by two World Wars. The idea of a pan–European identity as it is known today through the
European Union was established after the end of the Second World War, as the need for a united

In 1949, the Council of Europe was formed in an attempt to create a European parliament that would
help aid European integration, as a means to prevent the threat of a war arising between traditional
enemies (i.e. France and Germany) and to create a combined front against a new threat in the form
of the Soviet Union . The Council of Europe was created as a forum where enemies could seek
diplomatic solutions and promote political and economic cooperation in Europe, rather than go to
war with each other . The creation of the Council of Europe is what inspired other European nations
to seek a comprehensive alignment treaty that incorporated deeper levels of cooperation amongst
European nations, this motivation led to the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, as
a means to protect the safety of workers in Europe.
The first significant step towards this was the eventual establishment of the European Union in 1993

The Movement Of Indi The Struggle Of The Power Left A...
Many of these challenges stemmed from Prabhupada's death in 1977, which "left a young ISKCON
shaken". Although the movement was growing rapidly, it still relied heavily on the charismatic
authority of Prabhupada, and his death created deep uncertainties within the organization's
leadership. As the organization scrambled to fill the void in institutional power left by its founder,
there was a significant "movement of Indians into local positions of power, which had a [stabilizing
influence on] many of the temple–level conflicts and also encouraged a greater degree of Indian
participation". As Indian–Americans continued to take on leadership roles in ISKCON, they began
to draw spiritual legitimacy and authenticity from their status as ... Show more content on

Before this period, Prabhupada distanced himself from traditional Hinduism and publicly stated that
his movement was not Hindu: "I don't want a Hindu temple. Our constitution is different. We want
everyone". However, the movement was forced to abandon this conviction as anti–cult sentiment
grew in the 1970s. By the middle of the decade, ISKCON fell under intense scrutiny by the media
and government officials. In order to protect the movement "against accusations of being a
dangerous cult, the leadership asked ISKCON's Indian supporters to speak to the movement's
authenticity as a traditional Hindu religious group". This testimony was successful in alleviating
public fears and allowed ISKCON to escape government sanctions. Without the leadership and
support of Indian immigrants, ISKCON would have been far less prepared to survive the death of its
founder in 1977 and the subsequent financial and legal issues that plagued the movement in the
1980s.
III. Hippies and Immigrants: Comparative Perspectives
Two major groups have historically populated the membership of ISKCON: first, the rebellious
youth of the American counterculture, and second, the Indian immigrant community that exploded
in the wake of 1960s immigration reform. While Indian–American devotees currently represent a
large proportion of ISKCON's following, their circumstances appear to differ dramatically from
those of the counterculture's hippies.

Buddhism and Hinduism in America
The Unites States is home to the most diverse spectrum of religions in the world. There are
representations of nearly every religion in the world. There are three basic ways religions arrive in
the US: import, export, and baggage. Buddhism and Hinduism are two Asian religions that have
made it across the Pacific Ocean and now exist along side many others in America. ISKCON, a
form of Hinduism, and Zen, a form of Buddhism, are two such groups.
All Indian movements have always had a charismatic leader associated with them. Bhaktivedanta

Temples have altars and many statues or depictions of Krishna in which one can perform puja to
Krishna. Mantras are also performed several times daily. These mantras are usually very simple like,
"Hare Krishna, Hare Rama." Like other forms of Hinduism, ISKCON holds the Vedas and the
Bhagavad Gita historically true, but does not follow traditional Indian ways. Devotees of Krishna
believe that he lives in a paradisal world and with enough love and devotion for Krishna they can
break free from the karmic cycle and enter into this paradise.
ISKCON beliefs are derived from the Chaitanya Krishnaite sect, which was started by Chaitanya
Mahaprabhu. He is believed to have been an incarnation of Radha and Krishna. He taught that with
enough love for Krishna, one could burn away from karma to achieve moksha. ISKCON and
Chaitanya Krishnaitism differs from other Vishnuite groups, because they do not hold Vishnu as
there God, but just one of his incarnations.

Lao-Tzu: Living And Governing
Lao–Tzu argues that the Tao is the ideal way for living and governing, and this argument is best
represented in verse 19 where Lao–Tzu writes, "Just stay at the center of the circle and let all things
take their course" (Lao–Tzu 25). This excerpt summarizes the Tao, which is Lao–Tzu's philosophy
of how to live. The main idea of the Tao is to remain centered within oneself and to observe the
natural course of situations without interfering in them. Lao–Tzu utilizes the principle of the Tao as
a way of life and as a way of governing. He encourages people to let go of materialistic and virtuous
pursuits and to simply follow the course of the world around them. Lao–Tzu also writes that the best
leaders should exercise minimal control over the people, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In his poem, he stresses the idea of rulers relinquishing excessive control over the people because
Lao–Tzu believes that the world will govern itself. In order for a laissez–faire approach of
governing to work, a mutual trust that people will act with good intentions must be established.
Otherwise, allowing for the world to run its course would lead to chaos if the human behavior
leaned towards immorality. While some control helps maintain order, not enough leads to chaos. If
Lao–Tzu's ideas on governing were applied today, I think it could help unite people because
individuals will be more compelled to work together in making decisions for themselves instead of
agreeing and disagreeing on what one person has to say. In addition, Lao–Tzu's disapproval of the
use of violence also suggests that he wants people to essentially act in good faith. As a result, even
when there are no rules to command people what to do, order in society is still maintained through
the lack of violence. Furthermore, I agree with the idea of taking things as they come because it
eases people into accepting changes they may encounter, which happens often in modern politics.
This mindset helps to moderate transitions in power, such as the election of new members into
office. Lao–Tzu's hands–off approach to governing may seem daunting in a time where people have
grown accustomed to excessive government regulations, but his ideas are interesting

The Constitution: Heart of a Governing Body What makes politics so important to the United
States? When hearing the word "politics", the president and first family are generally what comes to
mind. Of course the president plays an important role but there are lots of other key factors that
contribute to politics. There are three branches of government, each with its own special and specific
role. The legislative branch writes and creates laws, the judicial branch judge's laws and the
executive branch enforces these laws. The president belongs to the executive branch and plays
several different roles in office. The constitution plays a very prominent role in politics as well.

The loving hearts in people will start to hurt because of the way things are set up and functioning in
the United States. In the field of politics, the constitution essentially serves as a guideline or code of
conduct for government officials. Over time many modifications have been made that differ from
the constitutional founders' intent. Both Democratic and Republican parties are said to be the blame
for this due to their difference in beliefs and values. At length, 225 years ago, on September 17,
1787, the delegates of the Constitutional Convention signed their names to the final draft of the
United States Constitution. Less than a year later, on June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire became
the 9th state to ratify it, it became, as it states in its own Article VI, the supreme law of the land. All
these years later, few of us realize how cantankerous the arguments were that brought this document
into being. This country was founded on the articles of confederation which was ratified in 1781. A
first for a nation, it served as a charter. By those articles, the thirteen British colonies referred to
themselves as "states" to signify their autonomy and bound themselves into a Union with one
another. The main topic of discussion became the lack of a strong central. With no central authority
the confederation could not function properly. Leading to a huge meeting at the Pennsylvania

Hayek's View Of Governing Inequality
Social inequality can either be considered natural and necessary as inequalities creates incentives for
individuals to work harder, or it can be considered systematic, an integral feature of social order that
creates winners and losers. The former view would not consider inequality a public matter, therefore
does not require governing. The latter however, would consider inequality a public issue that can
only be reduced by government implementing policies to so. This essay will compare and contrast
Hayek's view of governing inequality with that of Stiglitz.
To Hayek, strong state intervention restricts the freedom of individuals. His concept of freedom is
without coercion and he is clear that people can only be coerced by other people and not by
circumstance. Those who are unemployed or those who are living in poverty do so because of the
market's function of rewarding those with certain skills and penalizing those without. For Hayek,
while these people may be suffering, they are not coerced because the market is an impersonal
mechanism. (Blakeley and Clarke, p. 353) It is only constraint of freedom by people that is
damaging. According to him, any intervention from the state to regulate society, however well
intentioned the motives, will inevitably lead to coercive government, and ultimately a loss of
freedom. Hayek views inequality as natural because they are a result of the differences in innate
human nature. It is his view that some people are just more gifted than

General Governing Principles
What should be the general governing principles of a doctoral program? That unto itself is a loaded
question. The guiding standards used to pilot a doctoral program should be both broad enough to
allow for individual academic and professional growth, but at the same time have some constraints
so as to allow for accountability. It is with this concept in mind that the following principles should
be implemented: a clear course of study; an understanding and appreciation of the roles that
students, staff, and faculty have in the process; opportunities for evaluation, and professionalism.
Once such a set of rules has been clearly established, all of those involved in the doctoral program

There are some people who would dictate dozens of such ideals by which a program should be

principles that are broad in their spectrum, but capable of being specific when it comes to color.
When a dedicated group establishes a clear course of study; an understanding and appreciation of
the roles that students, staff, and faculty have in the process; providing evaluation, and an insistence

People are motivated by self–interests and self–preservation. People are at war with everyone else,
people fear for their safety. Every individual has the right to do anything for self–preservation. Any
time there is limited resources, there will be a competition on who gets these resources. Two people
will meet and compete for these resources, the stronger one will win and the weaker one will die
out. Human beings are intelligent, have problem solving skills, we want to get the most with the
smallest amount of effort. The desires of one person will conflict with another's desire, due to the
limited resources one will never be sure they can live a well long life. Practically everyone desires to

To Thomas Hobbes the most logical conclusion is a world without a governing power. Thomas
Hobbes wanted to create a whole new logic of living. To do this we give up our freedoms in
exchange for security. If people can elect a sovereign to have the power of what is right and what is
wrong, then everyone will be equal to live a well long life. People would be willing to give up their
rights in order to not fear possibly dying every day. People must create moral and legal rights.
Creating rules that help everyone flourish. If we obey these rules, then in return we get basic rights.
It is better to live in a society than in a world where everyone is against you. If everyone is equal
and fair, then everyone has a higher chance of survival. Basically people have to decide that if I
don't hurt you then you don't hurt me. If one defies the other the sovereign maintaining the ongoing
peace will step in to punish the person disrupting the peace. The sovereign having been given the
power through the consent of the people. Thus, representing the people. Now that one person has

Governing The Commons Summary
When the subject comes to the use of the natural resources in the public space in the world, where
scarcity prevails, Elinor Ostrom, the author of the book "Governing the Commons" (1990), argues
that nor a totally centralized control of the common–pool resources is a solution, nor a full
accessibility to everyone is a way to go either. Based on the paradox, that even though individuals
are rational, by acting rationally they will likely contribute to" collectively irrational outcomes",
Ostrom critiques the three approaches that have been applied (at least in the theory) to resolve the
distribution of the common–pool resources. The first approach is known as The tragedy of the
commons, which presumes that every (common–pool) user has a good nature and does not cheat.
This approach results in the degradation of the environment as many individuals use a scarce
resource in common. (p16) The second approach is Prisoner's Dilemma, in which an actor makes a
rational choice based on cost & benefit analysis. This approach implies two strategies: "cooperate"
or "defect". "Cooperate" strategy would mean that the participant cooperates and shares the
common–pool resource equally, whereas "defect" strategy , a strategy that more likely would be
chosen due to lack of communication between the parties, implies that the participant uses/extracts
as much resource as he can sell for profit (p.18) The third is the Collective Action approach, which
suggests that proportionally to the size of the group, there is a necessity that someone (external)
comes in and regulates it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Governing Identification Evidence Analysis
In Chapter thirteen, naming the law of governing identification evidence is introduced. It begins
with the evidence needed for criminal convictions. It states that to convict a person of a crime, the
government must be able to prove it. The government must prove that the crime the person is
charged with did indeed happen. The government must also be able to prove that the defendant was
committed or was a party to the crime charged. The evidence can either be direct or circumstantial.
Direct evidence is evidence that stands on its own to prove an alleged fact, such as a testimony of a
witness who specifically says he or she saw a defendant pointing a gun at a victim during a robbery.
This means that the defendant must be identified in some sort ... Show more content on

Computers are electronic devices for storing and processing data and that is why they are a rich
place for law enforcement to search for criminal activity. There is a common expectation of privacy
when it comes to someone's personal computer, which is why the fourth amendment applies to any

a search warrant in place. Obtaining evidence from the Internet or cyber evidence includes crimes

Ethics And Laws Governing Pharmacists

  • 1. Ethics and Laws Governing Pharmacists Introduction Interestingly enough, the United States "has the most expensive healthcare system in the world, [yet] 47 million Americans have no health insurance. Healthcare is the country's largest economic sector"¦. Four times larger than national defense"¦ yet millions cannot afford to take care of their health needs" (Farrell, 2009, 1). If we combine this issue with the litigious nature of 21st century American culture, we can easily see how health professionals often have a difficult time with their ability to provide quality care and remaining mindful of their legal, moral, ethical, and social responsibilities. This paradigm directly affects almost every aspect of the health care world: physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, specialists, technicians, pharmacists, and even support personnel. Each aspect of the healthcare world has different, yet similar, issues that are defined by their individual state boards, their particular specialty's moral and legal code, and national and state legislation. One of the medical professionals that is often neglected in major discussions about medical liability and ethics is the pharmacist. Many people think that the modern pharmacist needs little training because everything is computerized; cross–checked, and requires little in the way of personalized, or intellectual, expertise. Nothing could be further from the actual truth, and the dilemma faced in the increasingly competitive world of pharmacy sales means that many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly it sets ground rules for the coach/coachee relationship so that both parties know their obligations. Secondly it can keep the liabilities of the coach to a minimum. A simple formal contract/agreement gives both parties peace of mind! This simple, formal contract also demonstrates that the coach is professional in their attitude towards the role and the employee they are coaching and can also assist in keeping professional objectivity in what at times can become quite an intimate situation. • 5. The Constitution : Heart Of A Governing Body DeJuan Isaiah Ms. Terry English 12 27 October 2014 The Constitution: Heart of a Governing Body What makes politics so important to the United States? When hearing the word "politics", the president and first family are generally what comes to mind. Of course the president plays an important role but there are lots of other key factors that contribute to politics. There are three branches of government, each with its own special and specific role. The legislative branch writes and creates laws, the judicial branch judge's laws and the executive branch enforces these laws. The president belongs to the executive branch and plays several different roles in office. The constitution plays a very prominent role in politics as well. Government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The loving hearts in people will start to hurt because of the way things are set up and functioning in the United States. In the field of politics, the constitution essentially serves as a guideline or code of conduct for government officials. Over time many modifications have been made that differ from the constitutional founders' intent. Both Democratic and Republican parties are said to be the blame for this due to their difference in beliefs and values. At length, 225 years ago, on September 17, 1787, the delegates of the Constitutional Convention signed their names to the final draft of the United States Constitution. Less than a year later, on June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire became the 9th state to ratify it, it became, as it states in its own Article VI, the supreme law of the land. All these years later, few of us realize how cantankerous the arguments were that brought this document into being. This country was founded on the articles of confederation which was ratified in 1781. A first for a nation, it served as a charter. By those articles, the thirteen British colonies referred to themselves as "states" to signify their autonomy and bound themselves into a Union with one another. The main topic of discussion became the lack of a strong central. With no central authority the confederation could not function properly. Leading to a huge meeting at the Pennsylvania Statehouse in Philadelphia. In the hot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Review of UKSports Anti-Doping Policy Essay "The two major justifications for the ban on the use of performance–enhancing drugs in sport relate to the protection of the health of athletes, and the maintenance of fair competition" (Black, 1996; as cited by Waddington, 2000) The main objective of the U.K. Statement of the Anti–doping Policy stems from this. The aim is to ensure that the various governing bodies of sport in the United Kingdom have consistent and regular sets of policies and regulations in order to "protect the rights of athletes to compete drug–free" (U.K. Statement of Anti–doping Policy). This policy, (January 2002) published by U.K. Sport, was considered "a major landmark in the fight for drug–free sport". It was an attempt to set standards in accordance with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... UK Sport's role is also clearly defined in the policy. UK Sport will have to agree an annual anti– doping programme, consisting of testing (where appropriate), education and information, with the Governing Bodies and also assist with its delivery. They will have to guarantee the confidentiality of information arising from programmes except where it is required, in order to provide transparency and accountability for public funding and the integrity of the testing programme. UK Sport will also report to the designated official, within the Governing Body, both negative and positive test outcomes, within an agreed timeframe. Again, they will assist, as required, with the provision of information to the review, investigative hearing or appeal panels. Training workshops will be provided for Governing Bodies, on operational and legal issues. Governing Bodies will also have to be supported with advice and guidance, from the Anti–Doping Programme, team to achieve programme delivery arising from the policy. Supporting, independent advice on complex scientific or medical issues will also be provided by UK Sport, who will also promote an independent dispute resolution system for sport. Finally, UK Sport will have to continue independent, high quality collection services, as well as assisting Governing Bodies with the monitoring and reporting of results. • 9. Governing Aortic Pressure Governing Physiology In order to provide as accurate a test as possible, care must be taken to model our system after human physiologic conditions. There are many variables at play near the aortic valve we must consider when making our tester. The most obvious physiology we have to model is pressure. A successful heart valve must be one that can reliably handle the pressures found in the body. Average blood pressure for a healthy adult male when measured with a cuff is 80/120 mmHg where two numbers are given for minimum and maximum pressures. However, pressure measured with a cuff is different than aortic pressure5. At max pressure, the difference can by as by as much as 20 mmHG for systole5. This is due to the higher elasticity of the aorta. We ust keep that in mind if hoping to get accurate pressure found at an aortic valve. Minimum pressures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pump "Siphon–Mate 35–109PC Transfer Pump for Liquid" can pump 0.12L of liquid per stroke, and has a outer diameter of 1"8. In order to create a flow rate of 0.233L/s with this pump, one has to pump one full stroke in: 0.12L / (0.233L/s) = 0.51s. This means one must do a full pump about twice per second to test whether the heart valve can withstand the maximum flow rate through aorta. According to the product description, this pump is "a combination displacement lift pump and siphon pump with valves suitable for transferring fuel."8 So the pump itself contains a valve that prevents backflow. Tubing: To house the heart valves, 1" inner diameter braided vinyl tubing was used. The tubing fit well into the PVC T–junctions and are approximately equal in size to a human aorta. Assembly and iterations The main parts and components of this project have remained relatively constant. • 11. A Woman Governing Over Texas No one would had imagined a woman governing over Texas, a state ruled by conservative white cowboys. Ann Richards was the second woman to become the Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 1990. She became the hero of minorities, woman, gay men, and lesbians, and worked for a "New Texas" where opportunities and power would be given to those groups. Ann Richards is known as the most efficient person in a line of long Texas progressives who fought for control over Texas when the state was a "Democratic Stronghold". Her loss against Gorge W. Bush after her first term as governor, was a strong indication that the generations of Democrats ruling Texas had ended. Before Ann Richards made a career in politics, she had a career as a mother and wife. Ann was born in Waco, Texas on September 1 of 1933. Waco back then was segregated, had strong religious ideas, and its people where known as being strict conservatives. Ann met her future husband in 1949 when Ann and David where on their senior year in Waco High. Once they graduated high school in 1950, Ann wanted to leave Waco and follow David to Austin where David was studying to become a lawyer at the University of Texas. Ann's mother, Eleanor, didn't seem that it was a good idea for her baby girl leave her hometown. Ann was enrolled at Baylor University with a scholarship that payed for her education. • 13. The Idea of Li and Governing Essay Li, or rites, has played an integral part in shaping early Chinese philosophy, though not all philosophers have agreed on its meaning or reason for application. Some will argue that human nature requires us to us Li to be ethical beings, while others believe that Li will teach and mold us into beings that will follow the norms of our society. The three major Confucian philosophers whom used the idea of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. All three of these philosophers used Li to shape their ideal government, but it was Xunzi who would have the most applicable form of an ideal government. Confucius was alive and teaching during the Spring and Autumn period. The power of the Zhou king was on the decline and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking back at the social norm of a man holding a door open, even though there is no direct punishment for not holding the door open, a man will naturally feel a sense of shame when not adhering to the social ritual that is ascribed to a man. He wanted men to do the right thing not out of fear, but out of shame. This would lead the common folk to follow the Li and become gentlemen in their own right. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance. Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them "sage kings" and praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused "peace and security to their fellow man" (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius's teachings, viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could alleviate it. Mencius had a nearly identical description of Li as Confucius, yet his Li was largely tied in with human nature and the internal struggle to be a moral person. Li was just one of the ... • 15. California Governing Crisis In 2008 California was faced with a huge budget crisis and governing crisis as the state governing was not nearly as efficient enough to respond to changes and problems that were happening in the state. This was due to a lot of poor laws that related to taxation and to the way our state government worked. There is also unique differences with California than other states, like our direct democracy system, and many of our laws are compromises that don't work well between liberal and conservative ideologies. Our politicians are also not well motivated to serve the people and would rather server their own special interests that benefit their own career. While there are still a lot of problems that California needs to deal with, we did make adjustments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is to lose the direct democracy system California has had in place. The intention was to prevent special interests but it has been proven ineffective as most voters don't have the time to look over complex bills. Also as Van Vecthen notes our ballot initiative system is getting over swamped with bills that can be confusing and distracting. This year there was a bill to both keep and repeal the death penalty and that level of nuance can be confusing to a voter who isn't paying attention to every little detail. These can also raise issues that are not that important in the grand scheme of things like for example, this year we had a bill to regulate condom use in pornography. The biggest problem I see though with the direct democracy system is that it does not hold politicians accountable enough. If we have a say in the system, when things go wrong politicians instead of blaming their own policies can now blame ballot initiative policies. Overall I think the negatives and positives of a representative democracy will still outweigh those of the direct democracy system. Using the California budget challenge I choose what I'd call a quasi–socialist future for California. While I'd still support much of free trade as it is necessary to generate capital my plan focuses on fixing archaic and broken tax laws, and spending a ton on social services like education. The taxes I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In sport we have to take in a range of different performers, who come from various different backgrounds cultures and beliefs, each of these has its own demands and regulations for participation in sport and so it is the job of different organisations and sporting parties to overcome this, finding ways to include and allow everyone to participate in sport. Before we go into further detail, I'm known as Sir James Murray and I was the first colonial governor of the British ruled Quebec. Born in Scotland on January the 1st, 1721, I joined the British Arms at just 18 years of age. At the age of 36, I was sent to North America as a lieutenant colonel, during the Seven Years' War against our arch–enemies, the French. Role Of Politics In Action: Governing In Congress Pg. 332–342 Politics In Action: Governing in Congress It has been seen that the shift of power and passing of laws can be a very slow and complicated process. o Over the recent years, there have several shifts of power between political parties and which holds majority of the house.  2010, the Republicans earned a hard fought victory to finally become majority of Congress. o Even then, Congress has so much decentralized power that it can a long time to officially pass a bill and enforce public policies.  Senators are quite known for being stubborn and independent, which often leads to a gridlock where there is no decision made at all.  It is more just one giant argument between all the members of the House and Senate. o Overall, ... One final topic that often comes up is when an incumbent legitimately loses, as it does happen. o Most challengers are simply ignorant to all the advantages that incumbents actually have in re–elections. o However, sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel comes sooner than one might expect.  This primarily happens when the favored candidates makes the wrong move, ruining his public image. o Additionally, after the census is taken every ten years, each state is forced to re–district no matter if number of seats change or ... • 29. The Hare Krishna Movement: Immigration And Naturalization... INTRODUCTION The 1960s saw the rise of a disproportionately large number of new religious movements (NRMs) in America. Many of these movements were rooted in existing faiths, from Judaism to evangelical Christianity to Buddhism, and were often populated by members of the emergent American counterculture. Concurrently, the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 was being passed into law, which lifted many restrictions on immigration to the United States and prompted a new influx of skilled laborers from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Over the following years and decades, these immigrants began to occupy a prominent role in the American religious landscape, including many NRMs. With these events in mind, this essay seeks to situate the Hare Krishna movement–a successful Hindu–based NRM also known as ISKCON, or the International Society for Krishna Consciousness–in the context of immigration and the counterculture at large. Unlike other Hindu NRMs, ISKCON utilizes contemporary English translations of Hindu scriptures and represents a decidedly Western expansion of several Hindu traditions. In the Declaration of Independence it states that "all men are created equal," an idea which leads to the concept that all citizens should have the same rights, responsibilities, and influence in the governing of their country. In writing the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson was trying to break his ties with the harsh and non–democratic rule of the British and begin a new, equal society and government for America. To do this, though, it was necessary to write some sort of document which would state to the world the basic beliefs on which the nation's new government would be built. This document was the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson felt that Britain was doing nothing but hurting America with unfair rules and all sorts of ridiculous taxes. The colonies and colonists had no rights in determining the very laws which dictated the way they led their lives. The Declaration of Independence was a formal document stating that the people of America were breaking away from Britain and that the American colonies were now "Free and Independent States." The Declaration of Independence was the cornerstone of American freedom and equality. By writing this document, the American Colonies could now begin the process of starting a new way of life and a new government. The principles are zero reject, free appropriate public education, least restrictive environment, nondiscriminatory evaluation, parent and family right to confidentiality, and procedural safeguards. Zero reject states that public education is entitled to all students with disabilities, and the severity of the disability does not affect this. Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), makes sure that the public education that the student receives is free, and a parent or other family member is not asked to pay for their education. A student's least restrictive environment is how they receive their education, and this means that the student with disability is educated is a setting as close to their peers as possible. After many discussions about the issues, including striking the section authorizing force against a state, the Virginia Plan became in excessive part the basis of the Constitution (The liberty of congress, 2006). The Current Governing Schools Of Thought For Nations The early 21st century, in all of its rising cultural globality, is the first period of stagnating economic and political globalization since the end of the Second World War. The world has become more closely knit as a single cultural entity due to the rise of social media, the expansion of transnational business, and the strengthening of the internet as an equal ground for all people. Cooperative cultural events such as Olympic competitions, FIFA World Cups and even international eSport competitions have brought individuals within nations closer together, benefiting transnational corporations, while nations themselves have become more politically and economically divided. The current governing schools of thought for nations are a reaction to the fading power of the nation states as the dominant entity of international politics. The three schools of international political economics, liberalism, nationalism, and marxism, all appear in national policies around the world from liberal blocs of free market economies like the European Union to isolationist policies practiced by nations like North Korea which is related to the "benign" mercantilism of economic nationalism (Gilpin, 1987). This excerpt summarizes the Tao, which is Lao–Tzu's philosophy of how to live. The main idea of the Tao is to remain centered within oneself and to observe the natural course of situations without interfering in them. Lao–Tzu utilizes the principle of the Tao as a way of life and as a way of governing. In his poem, he stresses the idea of rulers relinquishing excessive control over the people because Lao–Tzu believes that the world will govern itself. In order for a laissez–faire approach of governing to work, a mutual trust that people will act with good intentions must be established. Otherwise, allowing for the world to run its course would lead to chaos if the human behavior leaned towards immorality. While some control helps maintain order, not enough leads to chaos. If Lao–Tzu's ideas on governing were applied today, I think it could help unite people because individuals will be more compelled to work together in making decisions for themselves instead of agreeing and disagreeing on what one person has to say. In addition, Lao–Tzu's disapproval of the use of violence also suggests that he wants people to essentially act in good faith. As a result, even when there are no rules to command people what to do, order in society is still maintained through the lack of violence. Furthermore, I agree with the idea of taking things as they come because it eases people into accepting changes they may encounter, which happens often in modern politics. In the hot summer of 1787, delegates from all of the states ...

The sports Development / Performance pyramid is an explanation of how participation and ability can be measured in sport. It helps to highlight the route a performer can take to become an elite performer. It includes four different sections; –The Foundation stage At this stage sport practisers are classed as novices, where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is illustrated in the picture below. Health is a barrier that increases steadily with age and is by far the main issue affecting the older generation. Reasons for not exercising (% of respondents) Views on exercising more often When asked if exercising more regularly was something they wished to achieve the study found that; the oldest age groups were more likely to indicate that they did not want to exercise more: 58% of 60–74 year olds and 72% of those aged 75 or over did not want to exercise more.

  • 68. Hayek's View Of Governing Inequality Social inequality can either be considered natural and necessary as inequalities creates incentives for individuals to work harder, or it can be considered systematic, an integral feature of social order that creates winners and losers. The former view would not consider inequality a public matter, therefore does not require governing. The latter however, would consider inequality a public issue that can only be reduced by government implementing policies to so. This essay will compare and contrast Hayek's view of governing inequality with that of Stiglitz. To Hayek, strong state intervention restricts the freedom of individuals. His concept of freedom is without coercion and he is clear that people can only be coerced by other people and not by circumstance. Those who are unemployed or those who are living in poverty do so because of the market's function of rewarding those with certain skills and penalizing those without. For Hayek, while these people may be suffering, they are not coerced because the market is an impersonal mechanism. (Blakeley and Clarke, p. 353) It is only constraint of freedom by people that is damaging. According to him, any intervention from the state to regulate society, however well intentioned the motives, will inevitably lead to coercive government, and ultimately a loss of freedom. Hayek views inequality as natural because they are a result of the differences in innate human nature. It is his view that some people are just more gifted than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. General Governing Principles What should be the general governing principles of a doctoral program? That unto itself is a loaded question. The guiding standards used to pilot a doctoral program should be both broad enough to allow for individual academic and professional growth, but at the same time have some constraints so as to allow for accountability. It is with this concept in mind that the following principles should be implemented: a clear course of study; an understanding and appreciation of the roles that students, staff, and faculty have in the process; opportunities for evaluation, and professionalism. Once such a set of rules has been clearly established, all of those involved in the doctoral program will find the experience to be one that transforms everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some people who would dictate dozens of such ideals by which a program should be governed, just as there are an equal number of individuals who list just a couple of general rules of guidance. However, the pragmatist would instead advise for there to only be a few, very practical principles that are broad in their spectrum, but capable of being specific when it comes to color. When a dedicated group establishes a clear course of study; an understanding and appreciation of the roles that students, staff, and faculty have in the process; providing evaluation, and an insistence of professionalism as foundations of the Doctorate of Education, they will bestow upon the University of West Florida both the ideals that is needed for a successful program as well as the potential flexibility to make adjustments as needed. No man and no plan are ever perfect, and once that is realized and implemented within the doctorate program, it will become a model platform for other universities to ... • 72. Thomas Hobbes Pursuit Of Governing Power People are motivated by self–interests and self–preservation. People are at war with everyone else, people fear for their safety. Every individual has the right to do anything for self–preservation. Any time there is limited resources, there will be a competition on who gets these resources. Two people will meet and compete for these resources, the stronger one will win and the weaker one will die out. Human beings are intelligent, have problem solving skills, we want to get the most with the smallest amount of effort. The desires of one person will conflict with another's desire, due to the limited resources one will never be sure they can live a well long life. Practically everyone desires to live long and well. Therefore, a person will try to acquire more stuff and more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Thomas Hobbes the most logical conclusion is a world without a governing power. Thomas Hobbes wanted to create a whole new logic of living. To do this we give up our freedoms in exchange for security. If people can elect a sovereign to have the power of what is right and what is wrong, then everyone will be equal to live a well long life. People would be willing to give up their rights in order to not fear possibly dying every day. People must create moral and legal rights. Creating rules that help everyone flourish. If we obey these rules, then in return we get basic rights. It is better to live in a society than in a world where everyone is against you. If everyone is equal and fair, then everyone has a higher chance of survival. Basically people have to decide that if I don't hurt you then you don't hurt me. If one defies the other the sovereign maintaining the ongoing peace will step in to punish the person disrupting the peace. The sovereign having been given the power through the consent of the people. Thus, representing the people. Now that one person has complete control now there will be order maintaining peace allowing people to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Governing The Commons Summary When the subject comes to the use of the natural resources in the public space in the world, where scarcity prevails, Elinor Ostrom, the author of the book "Governing the Commons" (1990), argues that nor a totally centralized control of the common–pool resources is a solution, nor a full accessibility to everyone is a way to go either. Based on the paradox, that even though individuals are rational, by acting rationally they will likely contribute to" collectively irrational outcomes", Ostrom critiques the three approaches that have been applied (at least in the theory) to resolve the distribution of the common–pool resources. The first approach is known as The tragedy of the commons, which presumes that every (common–pool) user has a good nature and does not cheat. This approach results in the degradation of the environment as many individuals use a scarce resource in common. (p16) The second approach is Prisoner's Dilemma, in which an actor makes a rational choice based on cost & benefit analysis. This approach implies two strategies: "cooperate" or "defect". "Cooperate" strategy would mean that the participant cooperates and shares the common–pool resource equally, whereas "defect" strategy , a strategy that more likely would be chosen due to lack of communication between the parties, implies that the participant uses/extracts as much resource as he can sell for profit (p.18) The third is the Collective Action approach, which suggests that proportionally to the size of the group, there is a necessity that someone (external) comes in and regulates it. ... • 76. Governing Identification Evidence Analysis In Chapter thirteen, naming the law of governing identification evidence is introduced. It begins with the evidence needed for criminal convictions. It states that to convict a person of a crime, the government must be able to prove it. The government must prove that the crime the person is charged with did indeed happen. The government must also be able to prove that the defendant was committed or was a party to the crime charged. The evidence can either be direct or circumstantial. Direct evidence is evidence that stands on its own to prove an alleged fact, such as a testimony of a witness who specifically says he or she saw a defendant pointing a gun at a victim during a robbery. This means that the defendant must be identified in some sort ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Computers are electronic devices for storing and processing data and that is why they are a rich place for law enforcement to search for criminal activity. There is a common expectation of privacy when it comes to someone's personal computer, which is why the fourth amendment applies to any search of a computer. When obtaining evidence from other personal electronic devices there must be a search warrant in place. Obtaining evidence from the Internet or cyber evidence includes crimes against children, abductions, threats, abductions, and pornography. Identity theft and computer hacking crimes also fall under this category. There are different types of search warrants; there is daytime, nighttime, no knock/unannounced, anticipatory, sneak and peek, etc. Wiretapping allows the practice of connecting a listening device to a telephone line to secretly monitor a conversation. Electronic surveillance is a way of monitoring a home, business, or individual using a variety of devices. Three techniques of electronic surveillance that are available to law enforcement agencies are pen registers, trap and trace devices, and interception of the content of the message. • 78. Pros And Cons Of Governing Request Let's just get it out there. The relationships and sexuality of the elves of Elfquest are complicated. There is a lot going on. First and foremost let us go to the experts on the subject. Wendy: " Morally, they don't follow the same rules we do; they're pan–sexual, not hung–up on taboos." Many of the elves are clearly shown to be attracted to a variety of individuals. While some elves are shown to have a preference (Skywise for example). Spoilers Below. The elves also aren't concerned with being monogamous. While there are those who generally stick to each other (Strongbow and Moonshade) as lifemates; there are many who form "family units" as a group of three (Tyleet, Scouter and Dewshine). However, while elves might have their family unit or lovemates that doesn't mean that they are exclusive within that group. As elves do not have the same hangups on sex as us humans this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recognition is a way in which to have strong and oftentimes gifted children. Recognition can have fantastic results (Leetah and Cutter) or less than happy ones (Dewshine and Tyldak). As a result of the urge being almost always undeniable and with dire effects if denied (ie. sickness and/or death) it can get a bit of an ick factor out of fans. There are several instances within the Elfquest universe (implied or explicit) where recognition was not wanted. Dewshine and Tyldak are a great example of this. Tyldak is disgusted by Dewshine's true self and Dewshine feels it is a great betrayal to be with Tyldak. However, they go through with it as they cannot deny recognition. Once they have mated which resulted in Dewshine's pregnancy with Windkin they go their separate ways with no longterm ill effects. Perhaps this is an elf thing where an unwanted mating is something to forget and move on from. It is certainly easy for the long lived elves to forget humans from their past. It is not a purposeful action, but when you live so long... ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
